Awesome school! I am now a guitar major at Berklee College of Music in Boston and my first year here I tested out of several music courses because I was ahead of most other students. I attribute this to my many years at the Royal Academy.

I switched both my kids to the this program from another school in Worcester and the difference has been night and day. I'd like to "kick" myself for not switching earlier. Everthing about the school is wonderful and they are so friendly

I have been very impressed with the Royal Academy. Frustratingly enough, my kids have been to three other schools in the Rhode Island area prior to switching to the Royal Academy. Despite the long commute, it is well worth the trip. My children love their teachers and the quality of instruction and communication truly is something to marvel at. I only wish we had found this school sooner.
It is ironic that when researching music schools, I read so many wonderful things about the Royal Academy, and here I am writing my own review about them. I only hope other parents can benefit from my experience with this school. They truly have so much to offer, at least that is my experience. My kids look forward to their lessons every week and they actually enjoy practicing with out me having to keep harrassing them..... they are learning so much.....Yay!

After reading all these other reviews I felt compelled to offer my own "two cents". After moving to Westborough from Virginia about 15 months ago, the hunt for a good new music school for the kids began shortly after we arrived.

I asked many new colleagues, neighbors and friends advice about music schools in the area and practically every one of them referred me to the Royal Academy.

We first attended one of their student recitals which was held at a college in nearby Worcester, and that is where our love affair began. I was in complete "awe" over how some of the students of this school played. There were children that looked no older than 5 or 6 and embarrassingly they played better than my children ages 9, 11and 13, and my kids took lessons for several years back in Virginia.

After the concert we met a nice guy everyone called Mr.T who told us a little about the school and invited us to meet some of the students and parents.

I only wish a school like this existed in Virginia where both my sisters and nieces and nephews live.

So, add me to the list of awesome reviews! I never thought I'd see my kids so excited about their music lessons.

Great Job Royal Academy!....Thanks for The Continued Awesome Experience!

The Frazier Family and LuLu (our dog) Thanks You Too!

I have two children ages 9 and 11. They began to play piano for 3 years ago my son and for 5 years ago my daughter. I play piano (mother) for almost whole life but can not teach my kids, they are not interested to me.

My children take piano lessons in 2 different school before we go to Royal Academy, I see no progress when they learn from other school.

They learn very well at Royal Academy and I am very happy about their progress. I have told many friends from church and work about this very good program.
I recommend them, don't waste money in other place like me.

My husband and I are both musicians, he plays the guitar and some keyboard and I grew up playing flute and piano. We tried in the very beginning to teach our children but it did not work. They never quite took us seriously enough.

Being musicians actually put us in an awkward position because as musicians, we had high expectations of a school and teacher for our kids. Max, my 9 year old showed the most potential and Sabrina my 7 year old daughter showed the most interest and Ethan, my 5 year old showed the greatest ability to copy either one.

We tried teachers that came in to the home but it never quite "panned" out. We also tried two schools, but found the teachers were either in-experienced or not very reliable or consistent.

A friend of ours who is also a musician referred us to the Royal Academy. We knew from the first lesson, we found the right place for our kids. From a musician's standpoint, they are awesome! They teach everything exactly how any musician would expect to be taught. There were teaching methods that I even picked up from them while I sat in with my little one Ethan.

What was also important to my husband and myself was that our children enjoy their lessons, we did not want it to be a chore for them and the Royal Academy had a great way of working with each of my children on an individual basis. Each lesson for my children was customized differently to suit their personalities, interest and goals while they maintained all the music fundamentals. A juggling act if you ask me!

We love the Royal Academy so very much and it is so refreshing to be able to voice that with other parents considering music lessons for their kids. Don't waste your time..."Pass Go" and go straight to the Royal Academy!

Thanks Royal Academy!

My children and I have attended the Royal Academy for several years.
We are initially from Montreal and have been to the Royal Conservatory
program and have had a great deal of experience with different schools
and teachers.

My impression of the Royal Academy at first was they were a very upscale
and classically oriented school from the credentials of their teachers
and the "museum-like" appearance of the schools. It then occurred to me
much like their obvious obsession with detail, organization and attention
it was obviouslu reflected in their teaching and care towards how the school was
run and especially the education we received.

We have been long term fans of the school ever since and we have all
progressed incredibly since becoming students. I only wish there was
something available like this school in Florida where we will be moving
in June. Please consider opening one there...=)

My kids will carry on what they have learned from their teachers for the rest of their
lives. "Mr. T" and "Li-Ching" and all of our friends at theRoyal Academy we will always
remember the beautiful recitals and concerts and most of our special friendship.

Thank you for giving our children such a great opportunity and growing experience!
I recommend you to the world!

Pros: The best a everything they do!

Cons: Zero

My three children have attended their for over 7 years now. Although I must admit there
have been incidences where teachers have moved on, but lets face it, this happens in every
profession and happened at the last two schools my kids attended. In defense of the
Royal Academy whom I felt the need to defend, whether they read this or not, I have
never experienced a school, (music or not) that offers so much to their students.

My kids do not just have an "end of the year recital" they have been in over 7 recitals every
year, not to mention the school requires their teachers give us parents a written student
evaluation after every lesson (I love it!). Their facilities are breathtaking and from what I have seen
they use only real piano's, no keyboards or digital piano's. When my children attended
Robinson music in Westboro, they learned nothing, and were taught on a digital piano. When
they studied at the New England Piano Academy it was the same. I assume it is because digital piano's
and keyboards are cheaper to learn on and require no maintenance. In my book, it is called
"cutting corners". The main reason I first chose the Royal Academy was because they used
real piano's for all their lessons in all their studio's and required teachers to have high credentials.

Parking is sometimes an issue, I would say due to the popularity and demand of the school's
services. I have met many other parents and students at the school and have only heard
great things about the Royal Academy not to mention the awards they received and community service
they offer.

Therefore, I would recommend this school (as I have to all my neighbors and friends) a hundred
times over. I also would compare their fees with other major schools in their category as I did, their rates are the least expensive yet they offer far more.

I love the Royal Academy and can't fathom anyone writing a bad review on this school!

Pros: Great staff, very accomodating..Great school!

I recommend that you never let your children go there! My kid was studying there for a half year, and they changed 3 teachers for her, each time with the reason of the teachers' sickness or unexpected thing... except this, the parking is so crowded, sometimes I could not find parkings. Also, they charge high tuition fees of a $25 for a half hour and $50 for an hour, there is also registration fees... They also charge you with some situations of the studentss' absence.....Anyway, I found a private tutor of in home lessons that only costs me $18 dollars, I am very happy with it! Find a teacher at home or you can go to their house! they are a lot of better than the teachers at the Royal Academy!

Teaching is good depending on the teacher but communication can be a problem regarding lesson time changes/cancellations. Turnover seems to be high in instructors. Parking can be crowded.

Working in the Medical field and having a demanding schedule for both myself and wife activities for our children have been difficult. I wanted to write about the Royal Academy as they worked very hard to arrange times for my two children to attend music lessons at the same time. They are very courteous and the hours are very flexible and convenient. The school is very elegant and everyone seems so polite and helpful. My kids love their lessons, especially the beautiful recitals, and most of all, they seem like people who truly care and work hard to ensure students and parents are happy and continually follow their progression. We receive student evaluations from our their teachers after every lesson. I am not one that usually has the time or patience to write anything online, however these people deserve it. I strongly recommend them to anyone.

I have studied at the Royal Academy for over 6 months now. Prior to this I was at another school in Worcester. There really was no comparisonce. The Royal Academy knows their stuff. There were things I have learned here that I never received anywhere else. My teacher is from Japan and she was is very good. The hours are great as I work late and the facilities are breathtaking. most of all they are professionals.
