Cheap brown rice only sushi, fast service, always crowded, great eel avo and avocado salad. Servers try to rush you out when they are busy!

I went with my brother to eat sushi at this place and we sat at the sushi bar. As soon as we sat down the spanish speaking sushi chefs talked a load of shi* the entire time about the two of us. Saying extremely perverted and rude things about me especially. Not to be rude or anything but seriously how stupid do you have to be to not know that a lot of people are bi-lingual in the city. In case anyone is wondering what "suciedad" means..It means "dirt" in spanish because that is EXACTLY what this place is. Absolute FILTH. Next time I want to be sexually harassed I'll make sure to stop by your restaurant.
Besides the rude service.. The food was bland and tasted old. Gross.

Yesterday I was very shocked and disgusted to find a chunk of sand in my Lunch Don. It's pretty clear they do not even rinse their vegetables. We were even more furious at the manager's attitude--She acted like it was not her fault and blamed her employees who prepared the food.

Yes it is cheap and may taste decent. But if you care just a tiny bit about your health and the quality of food, this is not the place for you.

Shino Express on Newbury has a really great vibe and serves up delicious sushi at a price you can't beat (anywhere, let alone Newbury street). Seriously, the quality and texture far exceeds what you'd expect for the price. Note that they only serve sushi with brown rice now. This place is great for lunch with a friend or two, but because it is so small, any larger group is pretty hard because you'll end up sitting in an arrangement that makes conversation a little more difficult. Great sushi, great pricing, great vibe.

Pros: excellence taste

Cons: place little too crownded

This little hole in the wall below Newbury St. is one of my favorite places for sushi. The service isn't great, but considering the value of the food and the location, I can't complain. I've probably tried everything on the menu and I've loved most of it. The bathroom is clean (and smells nice), which is suprising for small places like these. Great place to stop by after a day of shopping or to bring friends for a casual meal, craving sushi or don't have a lot of cash.

Finally my fiance took me to this sushi place after him constantly raving about it. There were many, many times that we wanted to go but the line was longer than our patience however we just ate here 2 days ago and I fell in love with it! the sushi was fresh. service was good and best of all its cheap! Only problem its super busy and there is usually a long wait however being very busy its a good sign.

Shino Express is a fantastic sushi place. The sushi is very tasty, fresh and really inexpensive. It's a tiny place that offers takeout. It's hard to get a seat so takeout may be your only choice. The service is great. The staff are really friendly. Try the seaweed salad. It may not sound that appealing but it tastes great.

This is the best sushi for the price in the Boston area. Are we allowed to mention price? $2.50 for tekka or salmon maki. Most of the "named" rolls are $5-6.95. And there are more generous "contents" in the rolls than at other sushi places in Boston. Testimony (and the only downside): At mealtimes, the wait can be long. The place is tiny. However, you might go to other sushi restaurants just a block away or around the corner, and they are lightly patronized at the same time. Oh, and while the others might have a couple of sushi chefs working, this one always has 5-6. The restaurant also has take-out, and that moves faster than getting a table or a seat at the sushi bar.

I stumbled on this place a few years ago and have ever since been hook. The food is so good and fresh that I've even tried things that Americans would think weird like fugu liver over rice and freshwater eel. And if you like Japanese food then you got to try their seaweed salad and miso soup. I make trips there in the winter just for the soup. Beleive me you get your money worth, the most I've spent eating here is only $12 and that included the tip. The waitstaff are very friendly an opent to offer tips if you don't know what to try or if you've never had sushi before.
This is a no frills place so don't go here if your looking for high end food and service.

This is place is small and crowded, but they offer fast takeout, too, if you're unwilling to wait for a seat. Shino is known for their inexpensive sushi. Each piece is around a buck with rolls around four or five bucks, which is pretty good compared to pretty much all other restaurants. Order a la carte or just get a meal. The one thing you won't find here, though, is non-sushi items aside from the standard fare such as miso soup, seaweed salad, and edamame. If you're looking for tempura or udon, you need to go elsewhere.

The problem with Shino is how addicting it can become! It's most definately the cheapest sushi you'll find anywhere in Boston. Plus it's fresh, and the service is quick. I eat at Shino a minimum of three times a month - and I've gotten my friends addicted too!

I have been eating at Shino Express for almost two years and have never been disappointed with the quality, service, or the price of my meal. The sushi is very inexpensive especially compared to other sushi restaurants in the greater Boston area. The pieces are delicious with a newly expanded menu to include several new types of inside-out rolls among my favorite are the Crispy Eel and Newbury Fashion. It is a very small place, perfect to hop in and out for a quick, delicious and inexpensive bite of sushi.

If you want really cheap, good, fresh, fast, sushi (and who wouldn't) then please go to Shino. I go here all the time, and it has never disappointed me.

Don't go there for fancy designer rolls, but if you're in need of a quick sishi fix, this is the place to go. The seaweed salad is very good too. I've eaten there at least once a week for the past 6 years and the fish has always been fresh and tasty. Portions are usually bigger at dinner. Service gets better as the staff sees you come back again and again :-)

I stopped in here for a quick takeout lunch. The prices were quite inexpensive, and it was the only sushi place around that I knew of. I ordered one of the lunch combos and was a little worried when they handed me a takeout container of pre-made rolls and nigiri. But I wanted sushi, so I decided to try it.

The nigiri pieces were quite small and unimpressive - the rolls likewise. Nowhere near as good as most of the other sushi I've had around town. Plus they didn't have low-sodium soy sauce. If you really want sushi, knock yourself out here. But if you want a nice sushi meal, look elsewhere.

The prices are cheap but the pieces are small. The dining area is very UNCOMFORTABLE. You usually end up spending the same amount that you would going to a regular sushi place, so that doesnt seem cheap to me.

If you need a quick and cheap sushi fix, this is the place to go, if you don't live around the Porter Exchange mall (where you could go for quick Japanese bites).

My friends and I head to Shino Express whenever we need to satisfy that sushi craving fast and cheap. I love ordering by the # of pieces, you can get a ton of sushi for pocket change.

Cons: If you're a sushi connosieur and demand the highest quality or nothing at all, this is not the place for you. If you're a beginner and just want to try a few California rolls, this is a good initiation spot.

I love this little place on Newbury and Dartmouth, hidden in the ground level, you could almost walk right by it... I stumbled upon it and there's hardly a four-day stretch that goes by that I'm not in this place!! YUM!
