Wake up, students!
They ripped off students and are the most disgusting people I've ever seen in my life. All they do is to collect your money and cause you many headaches. They try to take every penny of your security deposit and it would take them forever to reply to you.
However, if you are unlucky enough to rent an apartment from them, just do the following:
1. Communicate via email, keep all emails! As long as you find something not in perfect condition, email them to come to fix it.
2. Take photos especially when you move in and out: every room, everything you can see, even walls, corners, floors and carpets, receipts. You'll need them.
3. Reread the lease. You must feel regretful enough to sign the damn lease with them when you reread it. But it is helpful especially before you move out.
4. You have tons of rights. Tenants' rights and free legal help link: http://www.masslegalhelp.org/housing/lt1-pullout-5-rent

These people are unjustifiably rude and impossible to deal with. If you present them with an issue, such as mice or a broken stove, they find a way to blame it on you and take forever to fix the problem. They've sent me and my roommates harassing letters regarding issues that weren't there. Anytime I would confront them with something they would be extremely rude. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HEATH PROPERTIES TO ANYONE. I'd rather live in a basement apartment filled with cob webs, mice, and a leaking ceiling then rent through them ever again. If you rent through them, good luck. You will regret it.

These people are awful. Their response to fixing things has always been a hassle. It culminated about two months before my lease ended, when they took 3 weeks to respond to leak in my ceiling. Unfortunately, it was AFTER an estimated 30 GALLONS of toilet water came down and totally everything of value to me. I have had to take them to court over this non-sense. Beware the office manager Keith Beardsley (sp.???). He is very cunning and almost talked me into signing a legal waiver in exchange for $360. Hopefully, the courts will right this injustice and they will be exposed for what they are: Soul-less money-grubbing fools. Don't rent from them unless you want a year-long headache. Also, subletting is a pain in the ass. Any sub-letter must make $30,000 (even if it's only for two months) anually and you pay a $250 lease break fee; even though the landlord collects another "move-in fee" from the sub-letter. In a word: Crooks

Is Edward D. working for Heath? The other posts are more accurate--Heath is completely inattentive and rude. My girlfriend's apartment had a rodent problem that was never taken care of. The landlord would send a maintenance man to patch holes in the wall but the mice returned. Got so bad they had to call the city inspector. Heat was off for almost an entire week in the heart of winter and they had to fight to even get a few dollars off the rent. As a property owner myself I find it completely deplorable that a company can get away with being such cons artists. Is it too much to ask to have a comfortable place to live when you're paying these people $2100/month?

Heath properties has served me very well considering it was my first time renting out an apartment. My lease ends at the end of this month and so far I have been pleased with their service without any complaints. Since the economy has been so bad, it has been hard for me to pay my rent on time and they have been very understanding and did their best to help me get through on my rent. I had a great overall experience with them and would definitely rent with them again.

THIS MANAGEMENT COMPANY IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST! They are fraudulent & rude & completely lack morals. Good luck getting your security deposit back (a full month's rent), not only will they not explain why they charge you all of this money but they ignore your call all together. Also, the entire bottom floor flooded from "mystery causes" which were never explained and they failed to take responsibility for the hundreds of dollars of damaged personal property.

Heath Properties is in my opinion a very subpar realty company in Boston. Living in one of their units going on a little over a year has been anything but a joy. In the winter, you begin to notice how poorly the windows are sealed due to the overwhelming cold. Between seasons, they turn off the heat too early. When it rains, the bottom floor floods and it takes them a while to respond. Also, don't plan on doing your laundry in the building because the washers don't wash and the dryers don't dry. I would not reccomend getting an apartment from this realty company in any way, shape, or form.
