I have lived here for almost three years, and it has been nothing but a hassle. Management is great when you move in, but more for quick fixes than resolving household issues.
Have had multiple issues with a variety of insects. Have exterminated, but just continue to say this is just how the buildings are.
Also issues with heating and gas. They continue to mask problems opposed to fixing the right way.
Two of my neighbors have had similar issues.
Apartments look great from the outside, and even somewhat on the inside, but once you move in you will quickly realize there are many things that could have been done better.

I lived at Hathaway farms four years ago in 2004/5. They were under a different name then, but the staff and service are still excellent. Good enough that when I moved back (in 2009), I am renting from them again. While pricey (But it IS Northampton) they are located in a great spot. Near everything, but not in the 'thick' of everything. Yes, the Heights is right behind some of the units, but I have not had a problem with neighbors or the staff.

The handle problems quickly, and make their expectations of the renter very clear. I wish there was more parking, but that's my only real complaint. Raising prices keep them in line with other rental communities, I don't like it, but it happens everywhere I have ever rented.

The vast majority of the folks near me are working professionals, or Grad (Masters and Doctoral) students. Not the partying kind. Sure there are some kids (I back up on the playground) but it's not like they are better or worse than kids anywhere. Sometimes they wake me up as they are running from their apartment to the playground, but I just go back to sleep.

Clean grounds, helpful staff, large apartments, great appliances (My unit was renovated right before I had moved in as a trial for some modifications), couldn't ask for much more. The things I don't like are dictated by the location. Price is on the higher end, parking could be better (but the property was built in the 70's), and I'd prefer soundproof windows (but that's kind of unrealistic)...

No kids for us personally, but the cultural offerings in Northampton alone are worth it.

All in all, it was good enough the first time that I didn't look anywhere else when work brought me back to the area. It will be from here to a house.

Just wanted to write a review as a family with two young children that transplanted from NYC to Northampton this past summer that Hathway Farms has been a wonderful commynity and place to live. The townhomes have been updated recently and are well maintained and comfortable (at least ours), the grounds are really well kept and quite beautiful, particularly in the flower seasons, and we have plopped into a wonderful, supportive community of other families and people. I don't have any complaints. The staff has only been helpful and we are particularly appreciating them this winter, as we don't have to lift a shovel with all this snow (and that is something to appreciate).
So, not sure what the experiences of other folks who have written reviews have been and why they are so bad (maybe if you don't have young kids, the experience would be different, but if you do, it is quite heavenly). I have to say I was startled when I read them and we were considering moving here. But, again, it has only been positive. We specifically wanted our daughter to start kindergarten at Jackson Street school because, as a multi-ethnic family, diversity is important. Jackson Street School is by far the most diverse in Northampton, with a wonderful leader.
Overall, I very much recommend Hathaway Farms.

When searching for a place to live make sure you check out Hathaway Farm Townehomes and Apartments. It is such a pleasant, clean, and friendly place to live. The spacious homes and apartments have recently been rennovated to make your living space comfortable and cozy. The staff are very professional and knowledgeable.
