To John L... You are wrong and should remove your review!!! I work there, of the 12 or so full time employees inside the food store we have 6 (as you call) minority employees working full-time.... What a jerk... what is wrong with you... Come in and look around, in fact ask to see them.... Although we don't' consider each other minorities, we consider ourselves part of the family that takes very good care of us..

Who's being prejudice? calling people ugly sounds pretty bad to me..

Meanest bunch of son of biches in town. You want condescending? you want rude? Pemberton farms is for you! Overprices selections as well as a patronized 'what you looking for huh's are all around. Maybe they just that way towards minority customers. You wont find non white employees anywhere all year round! Hence Pemberton Farms!

I am not sure what previous reviewers are talking about when they say the staff at PF are rude. I have found them to be nothing but considerate and helpful. I have become friends with members of the staff. One garden center guy remembered after six months what plant I had bought the last time I was in and even asked how it was doing. Note, of course, the there are two Pemberton Farms, one sells liquor and is across the street from the one with produce and a sandwich counter. Perhaps these people were going to the wrong location.
As for their quality, everything there is very good and they carry often hard-to-find packaged foods, but you will pay a premium for that (as would be expected). I have one minor gripe about this store, and that is that their cheese (sadly) doesn't last as long once you get it home as other stores' cheese does. I actually blame this on the FDA's terror of bacteria, their ridiculous legislations banning raw foods, and the resulting poor quality of most domestically available dairy products. Whole Foods sells the exact same cheeses, for the most part, but they move a larger volume and so have younger items available for purchase. This is not to say PF's cheese is bad, because it isn't. I would just like to see them keep it in a colder cabinet. (For the record, Wine and Cheese Cask has a similar quality problem, and they suposedly specialize in cheese).

The selection of flowers and food at Pemberton is excellent; however, you pay a premium for this selection and do not receive the courteous service that should go along with it. I have been discussing the rude and often condescending treatment with friends and acquaintances for years; finally I am writing a negative review online. Perhaps if the word gets out, they'll finally realize that it pays to be nice.

The food and the selection is great, kind of like a mini Whole Foods. The only problem is the staff, very rude. I have been going in there about once a week for the past year and I think someone has smiled and or said thank you maybe twice. There is a really angry woman behind the deli case most days; she really has no business working with the public. The cashiers for the most part won't utter a word unless absolutely necessary.

I have been a big fan of Pemberton Farms for a number of years. They offer spectacular gift baskets on the web site www.pembertonfarms.com as well as amazing foods in their stores.
Once inside the store you will find fresh conventional and organic produce, prepared foods, amazing sandwiches, specialty and regular grocery items, cheeses, chocolates and more stuff than you'll ever need. My favorite, Boars Head Cold Cuts are sliced to perfection in the deli. I have also used Pemberton for my catering, reasonably priced and very good! Chef Mike always delivers perfection!

This store combined with their award winning Garden Center makes Pemberton Farms my favorite store in town.

I've always used Pemberton Farms for buying my flowers to plant in planters and windowboxes. They have beautifully grown flowers, a nice variety, and are helpful in letting you know how to care for them. You'd get better prices at Home Depot but the quality is so much better at Pemberton. It can get very crowded on the weekends, making it hard to navigate the aisles with your wagon - but it's a great place. Check it out!

PROS: good selection, helpful staff
CONS: a bit expensive
