I'm really big on good service. Whiskey's left me disappointed with their service via the manager. I like their salmon burgers. They have Sunday brunch which does not include the salmon burger, though most other burgers are on the menu.

On a recent bachelor party, we went to Whiskeys for a few early drinks on Thursday night. However, on Saturday night, evidently the bouncers don't let Southerners in the bar. Ironic, considering I live in New York, and most my friends live in large cities elsewhere, but sporting GA and NC licenses doesn't fly here so take your "Confederate" money elsewhere to one of the many great bars around Boylston.

Pros: Good beer, but who doesn't have good beer in Boston?

.

I have been here a couple of times because of the $.15 wings. I love buffalo wings and I love them cheap. I also love the set up here with the buckets for the wings and a whole roll of paper towels. You need that ish man!

But I went here last night and got a Newcastle and chicken fingers because I was in a rush. The chicken fingers were banging. They are the kind with the kind of crunchy batter with like little pepper specks in them. I am sick of those breaded kind that dry out too much. You know the kind you find at amusement parks and movie theaters. Not a big fan of those. I also got them half priced because between 4 and 7 they have half priced apps which include the chicken fingers, boneless buff wings, nachos, quesadilla and loaded potato skins. Pretty good deal.

Only down side is the beer is pretty expensive. Well that's what you get for going out in the Back Bay.

Fun place to go in the area, especially if you are looking for casual. Very loud though, so if you going to talk with friends, good luck.

Let's be honest here, this place is a dive bar with nice tvs. The food is ok at best, the drinks are average and the service is horrible. As previous reviews have stated, security is downright rude and the servers and bartenders don't have a clue what they're doing.

I've given this place several chances, both when they were busy and when they were slow, and they just can't seem to get much of anything right.

The strange thing is that the Pour House a few doors down is owned by the same people and yet the atmosphere is completely different.

I just don't understand why anyone would go to Whiskey's when there are so many places nearby that are so much better in EVERY aspect (Dillon's, Sonsie, Cactus Club...). It's just not worth my time or money.

Pros: TVs

Cons: service, food, service, drinks, service...

Fun after work crowd. Casual place to eat dinner and relax after work or a long week. Great specials and the food is really good. Staff is a little rough around the edges but all in all a great time that is easy on your wallet.

My friends and I love going here on Marathon Monday. They have a great pulled pork and a view of all the action. The service is quick and friendly. Great bar to come with friends.

Just this past week, during a pivotal game between the Patriots and Jets, I went to Whiskeys because I knew there would be empty seats because the other great sports bars in the area (i.e. McGreevy's, Champions) were already packed. I asked for a seat by a tv which took 2 or 3 times for the hostess to get it right and finally was sat facing a nice flat screen. One problem though, the Bruins game was on. Now if someone was watching the blowout (4-0 bruins end of the 2nd period) I would have let them finish. But since no one was watching, I first asked the waitress to put the Pats game on and she said it would come on when the game started, which it didn't. Then I asked the hostess to change and she said she would get the manager to change it, which she didn't. Finally I asked the waitress again and she said that we had to keep it on since it was the only TV with the Bruins on, of which no one was watching.
I asked her to get the manager and explained to her the first rule of business, the customer is always right. Well, next thing you know, the manager comes over, not alone, but with his muscle, in case things got out of line and explained to me that I had made the waitress cry. he said he would get to it when he could which was b.s. because I saw him yucking it up with some young ladies while im trying to watch football. Not only that, but they have freakin Soulja Boy ,'Supaman dat ...' blaring in the background when clearly everyone wants to hear the game.
Basically when it all comes down to it, Whiskeys has gotten a little to high and mighter for themselves, after winning a contest put on by Maxim in which they were racked #1 neighborhood bar, whatever that means. The food has also gone downhill. The next time you will find me in Whiskeys will be when I am unemployed and can scrounge up $2.00 for a plate of 20 wings. Other than that, I was truly disappointed and you guys lost a great supporter of your bar.

Pros: Beer selection (but so does every bar on Boylston) and Big Buck Hunter

Cons: Music blaring while watching a game, staff, doormen, waitresses, bartenders, food, service

I attempted to spend a night at this bar with a few friends. After a few drinks, we were instructed to leave the bar because my friend could not handle any more alcohol. Despite his eloquent please otherwise, he was forcibly removed without reason and without explanation. He is of non-causcasian descent- draw your own conclusions.

There are other bars on Boylston St. that treat their customers with respect. You will be far better off patroning these establishments instead of Whiskey's.

I used to work here when I was in college for about two years so I'll be happy to shed some light onto things. First of all, we're almost told to be jerks with their no tolerance policy. The management is so quick to fire anyone that all the employees are on their toes at all times. There all no loyalties and the customer usually doesn't get great service. Also, how many nice bouncers are there? They're not supposed to be nice. The reason they're a-holes is because Whiskeys has been fined so much in the past that the bouncers are trained to be jerks. Some of the food is good, but I've seen the way the wings are prepared and you couldn't pay me to eat them. This isn't a place for 40 year olds either, it's a college bar and caters to the after word crowd. Service is bad because very few people are barely able to stick around to learn things. Overall, it's just a typical Boston bar (and the Pour House is owned by the same people).

On a recent trip to Boston for work, 12 of us went to Whiskeys for dinner. When we walked through the door, we were met by a bouncer who told my co worker to remove his Yankee baseball cap if he wanted to stay. He refused, laughed it off, and we went to eat. Everything we ordered was overcooked, but we were so hungry we ate what we got. We then went to the bar, and trying to get one of the 5 bartenders to serve us was tough. We are not 21 year old trouble makers, but are in our mid 40s trying to enjoy ourselves, and are excellent tippers. Approximately two hours later, my friend with the baseball cap was surrounded by bouncers and told he had to leave. We asked for an explanation why we had to leave, but they refused to give us a reason. We left without incident. We then went to The Pour House, which is next door, and we were treated like gold.

I was at Whiskey's this past Sunday to watch the Pats game with one of my friends. Now we just thought we were getting terrible service from the female bartenders because we were girls. Turns out the guy next to us could barely get any service either. The bartenders kept forgetting our requests for things like menus, etc., and they barely came over to us to refill drinks. This is even after they took the empty glasses away! In my opinion, they need to hire more intelligent and slightly older bartenders who know what they are doing and actually pay attention to their customers (and maybe even a few males). Being a former bartender myself, I know how it works, and their service was unacceptable. On the upside, the $.10 wings and other food is great! Although, the beer has gotten quite pricy. $4.50 for a Miller Lite? Seriously??? I thought I was on Boylston Street, not Newbury Street.

This place was just an all around great place. Whether you are looking for the bar scene or more of the restaraunt atmosphere, they have it all. It is great for singles but is also great for couples too. When we first arrived we sat at the bar and had a drink. The service was great and lots of people to watch. You can either sit right at the bar or there a little tables all around the bar. Then we sat a a table for dinner over on the side where it is more like a restaraunt but its still right next to the bar so its not boring. Our waiter(Ethan) was awesome. We got the loaded nachos w/ grilled chicken and guacomole whcih were delicious! The Margarita's weren't bad either, they certainly aren't the best I've ever had but definitely up there, I'd rate the Marg's an 8 out of 10. We will definitely go back soon!

I will admit right off the bat that I have never eaten here but I have been for drinks twice, BAD experience both times. I am used to crowded bars, I understand long waits for drinks, bathrooms, and everything else. I do not however, believe that door men have a right to be rude. Both times they have been snappy and acted like they were doing me a favor for letting me in. The second time the guy asked me for a back-up immediately after I handed him my ID... he hadn't even looked at it. I may be 21, but I do not look young and I never get questioned at any bar in this city besides Whiskey's and its neighbor The Pour House. When I gave him my credit card he scrutinized both and actually told me to get out of the way while he looked at it so other people could come in. Then made some under-the-breath and just gave it back to me. Whatever, there are much nicer places to go in this city, even on Bolyston St. Also they will not let you sit in the booths or tables if you are not eating. I would understand this except when it is 9:30 pm and 3/4 of them are completely empty, please don't force me to stand around your nasty bar with 40 year old men. This place is trashy, don't bother.

This bar is awful...The manager Jeremy S. is a dink. I went to the bar on a Sat. night with two friends we had all been out having fun a Lir (right down the street and much more fun) and wanted to go to another place. We get in line and then my two friends go in I was looking for my ID which I had in my bag but it took me a few minutes to find and the Bouncer said he wouldn't let me in! He said my eyes were red and that I was drunk and it was taking too long for me to find my ID. I snuck into the bar and proceeded to get a drink at the bar (I guess the bartender didn't think I was too drunk) then I went out to have a smoke and they wouldn't let me back in...not even to tell my friends I was being kicked out for no reason except because the bouncers and manager practice invidious discrimination. The three bouncer then ganged up on me and got the manager too. DON"T EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!

It was a hot nite and I have to say that the AC was not working well or maybe it was off. The door staff needs to learn some manners about gawking. I didn't expect that from a restaurant on Boyleston Street. The drinks were fair, food was prepared poorly and was late coming out. It wasn't that busy either so why did it take so looong? The fries were over done and the oil didn't appear to have been changed in awhile. The ladys room was on the dirty side, and no toilet paper!!! Whats up with that???

I went to Whiskey's last Saturday with a few college buddies from out of town. It's a dive bar but there are cocktail waitresses who seem to keep everyone well lubricated. The girls are all plastic and the men are a bunch of meatheads. We found some ladies and a cozy place to sit when we couldn't stand and then they sent a waitress over to keep bringing us booze. Our waitress was exceptional, very friendly and attentive, and after a few rounds she knew to just keep 'em coming. What more could you want?

I was there last weekend and it's just like every other bar in Boston. Most of the staff was real nice, the girls are good looking, the bartenders are quick, but the doorguys are ok. The guy with the lip piercing is a total loser, acting like he owned the place. Someone should tell him that his minimum wage isn't going to get him very far. Otherwise it's a good time, good music, and a good environment.

Obviously, Jeve's attempt to be unbiased and fair is transparent. Anyone with have a brain can surmise from his writing that he either works at Whiskeys or a friend told him what to write. In general, people don't care about the food service industry's problems. Jeve, if you don't like what your making at Whiskeys go back to school and get a REAL JOB.

The bottom line is that the majority of comments about this bar are negative. Whether they are from New York or L.A. is not important. Its their comments about what type of bar you work for! Bottom line is there are better bars in Boston and I would only go back to Whiskeys if they fumigated the place.

If you want to be treated with respect, go to any other place in the USA other than Massachusetts. People in general in Mass are arrogant........

I LOVE New York ! Long live the Yankees..........Keep on spending money Theo !

I joined City Search just to rate this bar. It is the worst bar I have ever been to and believe me, I have been to my share of bars. Even before entering any person can tell that the staff is pretentious. As an out of stater (being from New York City) I had to stand there for maybe 5 minutes while the bouncer searched through my wallet for ten forms of id. Upon entering I noticed a lack of any men under the age of 40. The drinks were ok and reasonably priced (again remember I am from NYC and reasonable to me is fairly high). I sat down with my friends for about 5 minutes and we ordered drinks. I am still waiting for that drink. My friends at another table received their drinks from a supercilious waiter who refused to tell my friends the correct cost of their drinks. After 15 minutes of waiting I fought my way to the bar and got a drink myself. The bartenders were friendly enough. After returning to my table I was greeted by an arrogant bouncer who asked me to sit down because apparantly standing in a bar is not allowed. The highlight of my evening was when previously mentioned haughty waiter claimed he saw me thrown up (I had almost two sips of beer at that point). The manager handled the situation fairly well (giving me a $15 gift card), but I am still waiting for my apology. In conclusion, Whiskeys is full of arrongant staff members, who should probably not consider any sort of job that requires social skills. If you enjoy being harassed by waiters and being bossed around like you are at day camp, then this is the bar for you. Next time I am in Boston this is one place I will be sure to skip (even with the $15 gift card).

Cons: Staff

It is very tired looking inside. The atmosphere is claustophobic. Food is not geared for vegetarians with no selections.

Whiskey's is good after work and Friday and Saturday nights. Good crowd, a lot of singles, cheap drinks for Boylston St. On mondays $0.10 wings, which are pretty good (good enough for $0.10 at least). I recommend it to meet people on the weekends or after work, not for watching a big game or dinner.

I've read posts stating that it was overcrowded for it's size. It's A BAR I want overcrowded, there was plenty of room to walk aound always able to get a drink when I needed one. The waitstaff/bartenders were very friendly, and several hot ones mixed in. The patrons were also very hospitable to us out of towners, Southerners. Great place I will definately be back in 2 years when the Clemson Tigers play Boston College in Boston again!

Well, after whooping the Red Sox and spanking Boston again, I thought my bud and I would check out the local watering hole. After going to Fenway which is depressing enough, I went into this bar that I thought was a little drab and dreary. Crowd was depressed because we spanked the Bosox fans again so we left........

Pros: Good place to find depressed Sox fans

Cons: Too small bar area, you might as well be in a phone booth if they still have em!

I thought the food was awful and the women that were there was nothing to howl about. Door person was arrogant and more interested in talking to his buds.

I brought a couple of people from my office in for lunch and they loved it. I had the burger and it was great. I also realized they have half priced apps at the bar mon through fri. I think the people who dont like this place are stuck up; "the decor was drab" you dont go to a place like this for the "decor" you go for the great food and to tie one on. If your looking for "decor" go one block over to newbury.

If you like pre-made burgers with tons of spices on it to cover up the taste of the fatty burger, then this is the place for you! The only difference here is you can get a beer to wash down the grease sandwich.

If you want a REAL BURGER then I suggest Fuddruckers or even the Hill Top. At least you can see what your getting and to me that is more important!

I found the decor drab and worn and the mens room had the smell of urine...... I judge a restaurant on how their restrooms are for cleanliness. Usually, if the restrooms are clean then the kitchen is clean and so it goes to the staff. Whiskeys flunked that test for me. Hey the college crowd probably doesn't care about how clean it is and that is ok for me, but their reasoning for not spending any money in these areas is apparent.

We found the barbeque to be doused in sauce and the meats themselves had little flavor. I would recommend Red Bones in Somerville or Daves barbeque for some more authentic cuisine.

The staff was friendly and attentive, the only plus.

Drinks were a little watered down for my taste.

I wouldn't recommend a return, unless they change the menu ..........

You would think that this bar just serves bar food. For the most part you would be right. However, their blackend burger is THE best burger I have ever had in boston. The meat is covered in a black peper mix. Once cooked they cover it with a white mayonase based sauce that no one else has. If you consider yourself a burger expert you must try this. I reccomend eating it WITHOUT cheese or bacon or anything else.

Whiskeys is by far the best bar in America. Probably in the world. The Bartenders are hot and friendly; I'm currently trying to date one of them. Talk about a great pick up scene, if you can take your eyes off the bartenders to notice other people, you're sure to meet that special someone (for the night). There are alot of hotels near by, so there is a good "transient" population at Whiskeys; perfect for one-night stands
If you're looking to see hot people, drink good drinks, and probably hook-up...Whiskeys is the place for you.

Whiskeys is like TGI Friday's without the jalapeno poppers. Everyone who goes here is either underage or well overage. The uniform at Whiskey's is khakis and a tucked in button-down for the guys and Coach bags (and little else) for the girls. If that's your scene, then you might really like this place. Oh, it's also really really crowded and you have to slide past snotty nouveau riche18 year-olds and creeepy old men on your way to the bathroom.

Whiskey's is at best okay. The drinks are a bit watered down, the staff is very rude, and the food is disgusting, at best. The crowd also tends to be pretty young.
On weekend nights, the place gets so crowded that you can't move, and a lot of fights tend to happen, because of this. It's pretty good, though, for right after work, if you don't care too much about the ambience.

Whiskey's has a nice selection of beers on tap, and an excellent pub grub menu to go along with the beer. Whiskey's offers one of the best burgers in the city, done many different ways, and they often have wing specials after work. It offers a nice atmosphere, if you like laid back sports bars. This is the one place where I take out of town friends and I am never disappointed.

It's not really a bar...it's a crowded hallway. There's barely any room to chat with friends so you're constantly moving through groups of people. Forget about meeting anyone, ladies...the best you'll get is an old sleazy man trying to grab your hand as you squeeze by. Plus, the bouncers are rude...prepared to be asked for 7 backups as they shine a flashlight in your face.

Food, drink, music, good crowd...what more could you ask for? This is a great place to meet after work when ya just need to unwind. Friday and Saturday nights usually attract college kids and the younger crowd. There are TVs usually showing one sporting event or another. Grab a booth and chill, but if you get here too late you'll probably have to cram around the bar area and tolerate the frequent pushing of people trying to check out the scene. But hey, a great way to meet people!
