Many of my friends have used Dr.Jane's services. They love her because she shows so much tender loving care for their pets. Her staff is top notch, professional and caring.

The staff at this hospital have always been very forthright with me and don't try to blow smoke. They really seem to care a lot about what they do for animals. I judge people by their character and Dr. Flathers is a credit to her

They treat me and my pets with respect, kindness and courtesy. I just hope when I need medical care as I age that my caregivers are of the caliber you will find at this hospital. Dr. Flathers often calls in the evening with lab results and has even delivered medication to me on her way home. How many doctors do you know that will do that? They tell me what my pets need when I take them in for an update and always answer all of my questions spending as much time as I need to understand why something is needed. I really like this and find it is very helpful. I especially appreciate how they make sure I know about the latest options available to help my pets. Even though I would never switch hospitals, I invested a little time the past couple of days to call around and check on some prices. I actually found I'm getting a great bargain on the care my pets receive. Just like a lot of businesses now days they are running some great specials each week that make some things an absolute steal. If you don't believe me, I encourage you to check for yourself. Dr. Fathers and the folks at Angel Animal Hospital are doing a terrific job for the pets in our community.

The staff at this hospital have always been very forthright with me and don't try to blow smoke. They really seem to care a lot about what they do for animals. I judge people by their character and Dr. Flathers is a credit to her profession. Her husband is also ex-military and a straight shooter. They support our Toys for Tots program every year and seem to be all around good people. I recommend them highly. God Bless those that sacrifice for us!

Let me tell you about how I got to know them everyone at Angel Animal Hospital. My best friend Billie got very ill late in the day recently. Our regular veterinarian was out of town so I called Angel and spoke with Dr. Flathers wanting to get some advice about his symptoms. Very concerned, she advised me to bring him right in. Although Dr. Flathers had never seen Billie before, when I brought him in she treated him as if she had known him all his life. Dr. Flathers and her entire staff are very compassionate people and treat their patients with love and tenderness. Unfortunately, I lost my friend because of how sick he was. I truly appreciated the care they provided Billie and the tears they shed with me over his loss. A few days later, I received a very nice card in the mail and it was signed by everyone at the hospital expressing their sympathy. All I can say is they really care about their patients and families. When I'm ready for a new companion I will be entrusting Dr. Flathers and her staff with the his care.

We were visiting Springfield when our little girl got ill, she was even discharging blood. Being from out-of-state we didn't know a veterinarian in the area so we had to rely on the internet to find a hospital. After calling three other doctors we were becoming very discouraged and more concerned. Not one would take us on an emergency basis and only wanted to schedule an appointment. That is until we contacted Angel Animal Hospital (their name says it all) for the staff were indeed Angels!
We were at their office within the hour, just before closing on a Friday night. Our little girl was promptly examined, x-rayed and diagnosed. She received loving care from all who came in contact with her. Not to mention her parents and our other hairy child were treated just as kindly. The staff went out of their way to be sure we understood the procedure, financial obligation and aftercare that she would need from us. Our little girl was diagnosed with Pyometra, a serious and life threatening infection of the uterus and needed immediate surgery.
The entire staff staid for hours after closing on a Friday night to tend to our family. We also received a call at 10 p.m. that night from Dr. Flathers to check on how our little girl was doing after her surgery. Now that's definitely the personal touch that truly shows how much the staff cares.
Without the expertise, efficiency, knowledge and loving care provided to us by all the staff of Angels we certainly could have lost a very special member of our family. Thank You!

I had my two cats declawed and spayed/neutered at AAH. The staff was professional and caring. Pepper and Pita have done exceptionally well after the procedures and I couldn't have been happier. I adopted Pepper from the local humane society and the adoption fee included a basic spay procedure. I opted to have it done at AAH because, by the time you added in optional services to the basic procedure at the humane society's vet, the cost was similar to what AAH charged with all those options included. In response to the criticisms of other clients. Could I have had the same procedures done for less elsewhere? Sure. But would my pets have received all of the same treatment as they did at AAH. No. With any business out there, you can go with the bare bones, low-cost option, or you can spend more to get the best. All the Hollywood horror stories of plastic surgeries gone wrong comes to mind. Do I want to take a chance with my pets' health and choose the cheapest care for them that is considered the minimum acceptable level of care? Or do I want to ensure their comfort, well being and longevity by spending a little more? Each person has to make this choice for their pets, but a business can not be criticized simply for providing a higher level of care for your pet. Higher quality care comes with a price, just like in any other service industry. The DVMs at AAH will fully explain all procedures, costs and rationale for them. If you choose to spend less, then that is your right. But educate yourself prior to getting treatment for your pet and do what you think is best for your situation instead of utilizing AAH and then complaining about the cost.

AAH has good service just much more expensive. I brought my bulldog to them with Cherry Eye. They Charged me 600 dollars and found out other places charge 50. I am in college so that was a hit. If you don't mind paying a lot more than AAH is a trustworthy vet.

I have never used Angel before but it sounds to me like they have your pet(s) best interest at heart .I had a French bulldog years ago and since they are a breed that doesn't tolerate heat well i took him out early and late eve in summertime and mosquitos never got to him well i left town for a family emergency and was gone two weeks left him with family who let him drink water that had mosquitoes in it and he got sick and i ended up paying $400.00 for treatment that saved him so for those of you who complained about the blood test it is not extra it goes with preventative care.So i say BRAVO keep up the good care and work there at Angel and to those who have a vet that dispenses heartworm prevenative without bloodwork up test shame on them if your dog has heartworm and you adm meds it could kill them.

After reading all these reviews, it saddens me deeply to hear what negative things people can say about each other. Pet care has, like everything else, evolved. Technology has greatly improved, therefore providing pet owners with a guarantee on a better life for their animal. 20 years ago a gallon of gasoline was 60% less than it is now, so what makes a person think that they can get quality care for their pets at the prices they payed 20 years ago? I can't say that i have ever met Dr. Snow, but i am sure he is a wonderful person and doctor. He, however, ran this business 30 some odd years ago, therefore his prices reflected the time period. We are in a modern world now with greater technology. And i'm sorry to say, better care comes with a price. However, it does NOT mean that Angel Animal Hospital is only out to get your money. Their mission is to provide the BEST care for your animal, and if what your animal needs costs you more than expected, so be it. At least you will know that the care provided was excellent as well as NEEDED!! They will not do anything that your pet does not need!! Dr. Flathers and her staff are the most amazing people i have ever met. They will go out of their way to make sure you and your pet are comfortable and all your needs have been met. They even help you out to your car for crying out loud. Just the other day I saw Dr. Flathers carrying out a dog that had to have been 60 pounds! (And this Dr. is cute and petite!) So for all of you out there that only have negative things to say, why don't you stop in and discuss these issues instead of slandering their name through the dirt, and giving out false information? There is no other place in this town that i would trust to take care of my animals. To the doctors and staff of Angel, i salute you and wish you all the best!!!!

I couldn't leave this site after reading some of these reviews without putting in my two cents worth. These doctors and staff took INCREDIBLE care of my 4 doxies, Including saving the life of one of them in an emergency surgery. AND THEY TRULY CARE about me and my family. They have taken care of my dogs for three years, and while expensive, you cannot put a price on the kind of service and commitment they gave to me and my dogs. I am having to relocate with my job, and it truly breaks my heart to not have my animals cared for by Dr. Flathers, Dr. Harders, Jeannene (sp), Linda, and the entire staff. I hope to find something close to this environment when I get to Ohio!

After reading some of the reviews on here I sometimes was to second guess myself about taking my two 'babies' to Angel Animal Hospital. Then I stop and think back to how wonderful the doctors are there and how well they take care of my little ones. I understand where some of the people are coming from when they say the prices are high. They are WAY up there but I feel that I would rather pay a higher price and know my children are being taken care of instead of paying a smaller amount and worrying about them. I see that he has said on here that high quality medicine has a price but I feel there is a limit to the amount that a spay or neuter costs. It has been explained to me about all the "extra" things they due such as fluids, etc. But I feel there has got to be a way to provide the service without charging an arm and a leg. Great job to the Doctors that are there now, you are wonderful! And to the staff, I do not feel you are pushy in any way. I understand that you are just trying to inform me of what my little one is due for. As for that goes, I always have the option of refusing a portion of the service I do not feel is necessary.

As a mother we always want the best care for our children; giving them a lot of love, seeing that their tummys are full, washing their clothes, and buying them toys, most of all we want to protect and see that they get the best in health care. Have you ever thought about your pets health care in this way? They need the same. My children are grown now and on mother's day this past May, they surprised me with my 1st puppy, Zoey Laine. I thought "oh my" what in the world am I going to do with this little white fur ball? I have completely fell in love with this dog, she goes everywhere with me. My daughter told me of her veterinarian Dr. Jane Flathers- I can only say great things about Dr. Flathers, her office staff and associates. Everything you would expect to receive from your personal health care provider; professional care, cleanliness, prompt services, call backs and accurate diagnosis/record keeping. Angel Animal Hospital has the best "bed side manner" of any care provider that I have ever been associated with. Recently Zoey was spayed, the staff gave her so much love and attention and kept close eye on her all day. Thank you to Linda, Jennie, and a special thank you to nurse Amanda and Dr. Jane Flathers. I recommend ths staff of professionals for your pet! Thank you, LaVonna Smith & Zoey Laine

After 12 years of patronage neither myself nor my family will be taking our pets to Angel Hospital. After recently returning to the area after military service I was disappointed to find out that Angel was under new management. Dr. Snow and staff were always friendly and caring. The new management never informed their patrons that they were taking over and instead let them find out the hard way. First by charging my parents for services not requested during a simple grooming. It was like dealing with the shady mechanic on the wrong side of town. You go in for a tire rotation and return to find your engine was rebuilt and a large bill. Second by overcharging for services. I read the comments posted by the staff trying to defend their practices (win back your patrons with actions not words). They ARE one of the most expensive clinics in the area, I checked. $350 dollars to neuter a small dog is three times the cost of other vets in a 15 mile radius. The question has to be asked, "Is the 'extra' care being provided really necessary or is it a way to have caring pet owners pay more by tugging at their heart strings?" Future pet owners or current pet owners looking for a new vet would be best served by skipping over Angel and finding a vet that is more concerned with his or her relationships with their clients not their wallets.

My little Yorkie was badly injured in a fall. He had life threatening head trauma and a fracture in his neck. (He only weighs about 7 lbs). He spent the night at the emergency hospital on Glenstone on Sunday night, and Monday morning I took him into Angel Hospital. I was there on their doorstep by 7:30 am and they don't open until 8:00 am,but they let us in anyway. He was seen immediately and she began his treatment without any hesitation. The other people who were there with appointments were kind enough to let me in ahead of them. I was told by the emergency hospital that they did not believe he would live through the night and the prognosis for a normal life IF he lived was not good. When we arrived he could not hold up his head, move his back legs or control the rapid eye movement caused by the brain damage. By that afternoon the vet called me to tell me he was showing some improvement. She was honest and informative about his condition, not giving false hope but we decided to give it some time and see how he would do.We were able to take him home that evening. We followed the instructions for meds and care to the letter and he has steadily improved. This was about 2 weeks ago. This little miracle is nearly back to normal thanks to the dedicated and caring people at Angel. I have had a phone call almost daily to check on him and even after his follow up they continue to check on him. I am sorry that some of you feel you have had a bad experience, but I feel you should hear the other side of the coin as well. When I was ready to give up hope-they wouldn't let me, I don't consider that as pushy in any way.
My husband and I would not even for 1 minute think of taking any of our animals anywhere else!

Hello all. I grew up in Springfield and have lived here for most of my life. I am currently a RN at St. John's hospital and have spent several years as a traveling nurse and have taken my 16 year old yorkie (Baxter) with me to numerous veterinary clinics around the country. I have had my fair share of good, bad, and indifferent experiences. I am extremely pleased with Baxter's care and the new policies that are in place. I am saying without hesitation that Angel is one of the best clinics I have ever been to. I had brought Baxter to Angel way back when Dr. Snow was running it and had been pleased. Since then I have returned to Springfield and I figured I would go back. I immediately noticed that they are providing much more beneficial veterinary care then what was previously offered. I have been reading these posts that others have put on here and am absolutely appalled. People are comparing it to a used car lot. What? That is not the case at all. They are merely trying to inform the many different pet owners of what is needed for EXCELLENT quality care. To the person talking about the $65 spay: If the average going rate for Lasik eye surgery was $2500, would you go to someone offering it for $650? NO! You would have many questions as to why they were charging SO little. You would know that they were cutting corners somewhere. The same things apply to veterinary care. You are absolutely ridiculous! It's one thing to be misinformed, but it's another thing to be completely ignorant. If you want legitimate and thorough care, I recommend Angel and I tell everyone about them. In fact I'm going back for a dental cleaning for Baxter tomorrow. I was even shown a treatment plan with everything they were doing. I am thoroughly impressed! Keep up the great work!
5Hello all. We have taken our animals here for 3.5 years. This last time, we took our dog in for his two vaccinations. We walked out paying about $200. They were so pushy, they did all these unnecessary tests and even took blood. I did say no to a couple of things and then they brought in someone else to talk to me about how important it was. I felt like I was at a used car lot trying to buy a vehicle! Today I called to get shot records so our dog could go get groomed and they told me that it was $9 fee. When I asked what for I was told the time that it takes and for faxing it to the groomers! When I talked to the manager and told her this was absurd, and that we had taken our dogs to the office since we moved her she did not care at all. This place has been a joke since there new Dr. came. It's all about the money, and how they are going to squeeze it out of you! I'd stay avoid this place like the plague! I have gotten excellent reviews about Dr. Fanning's office in Republic and suggest giving them a call.
IN RESPONSE TO DR. NIE'S POST. If he had read my first blog, it said that I walked out spending about $200...it actually was $181.97. So sorry for that being off a whole $18.03! However as he said yes our dog did have yeast in his ear. Something we already knew about and had medicine for at home. They still insisted that we needed something else for it. Even though the dog is nine and we had been dealing with this since he was little. Yes we did get a heart worm pill, something else that I was talked into...$7.62. What Dr. Nie failed to respond about was how pushy his staff was. How you are bombarded with all these useless things that your pet must have. One of them even tried to use our daughter as getting me to get something else done (by saying your kids health is at risk). I personally think that is pretty sleezy! It never use to be this way. As for his comment about not being able to get the care that they provide for cheaper, well I not sure he honestly knows what he is talking about. If you go on the Internet and research this or even talk to some friends that you know I guarantee you will be able to find someplace cheaper, with out having to sacrafice the kind of service you deserve! It's rather unfortunate that this is the direction they want the practice to go in, from the looks of most of the reviews it's heading in the wrong direction!

Hey everyone I just found a great deal for saving on my vet bills this year. My annual vet bills are usually pretty high because I do all the preventative stuff to make sure my dogs stay as healthy as possible. Like heartworm testing, senior blood work, dental work when they need it, etc. Well Angel offered me a membership for my dogs that lets me save a lot on their care. Basically I bought a discount on everything for a whole year. The discount includes anything I get at the hospital from regular vet services to grooming or even if I board my dogs with them. Its a 20% discount off of everything including heartworm, flea/tick or prescriptions if needed. What a deal!

I recently moved here from out of state and was a little apprehensive about finding a veterinary hospital in the area that my boys (two beautiful chocolate labs) would be comfortable with. A new friend told me she goes to Angel Animal Hospital and is very happy with the care her pets receive. My last veterinarian and her staff were superb and I thought I would look long and hard to find another hospital that would measure-up to what I was accustomed. To my surprise the searching is over. The staff at Angel Animal are so kind and helpful. They truly live up to what I expect my veterinary hospital to provide me and my pets. I met all of the doctors and they are simply delightful. They are very knowledgeable and share a philosophy of practicing the latest and highest quality medicine. The staff appear happy and truly seem to enjoy what they do. That's important to me because I don't think they can do it well unless they enjoy doing it. I certainly recommend Angel Animal Hospital to anyone that cares deeply about their pets and medical they receive. Oh and I was very excited to hear about their plans to build a new hospital in the near future.

The wonderful staff at Angel Animal Hospital saved my dog's life. I'm a student at MSU and he lives with me and my roommates. While I was at class yesterday he got into the trash and ate some rat poison. I panicked when I got home and found what had happened. I called Angel and even though it was late in the day and they were getting ready to close they told me to come on in. They made my dog vomit to get rid of the as much of the poison as possible and treated him for what he may already have digested. I've got a bunch of medicine to give him too. They told me just what to watch for in case he did already absorb some of the poison. I'm scheduled to take him back in a few days for a recheck to make sure all is going well with him. He is doing great today and I'm sure he will be fine. The doctor and other staff at the hospital were just great. They were very polite and professional. I hope to go to veterinary school some day and want to do good work for animals like they do at Angel. I recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary hospital with great and caring staff.

I have a little poodle mix. She is so adorable. She is like one of our children. Anyhow, her breath was really starting to smell pretty bad. Our doctor at Angel said we needed to have her teeth cleaned because the tartar and bacteria around the teeth were causing her breath to smell bad. Now that sure makes sense but they also told me something I didn't know. They said the bacteria can cause infections in her gums and eventually the bone that holds her teeth in will decay away. I tell you when I heard that a light bulb went on. We had another small dog several years ago and she had pretty foul breath as well. By the time she was about 10 years old she had lost probably half the teeth in her mouth. Our doctor also said the bacteria can get into her blood and cause infections other places like in her liver or kidney. Well she didn't have to tell me twice. Obviously we had them clean her teeth. They take such good care of our little Mitzi too. Since they had to knock her out to clean her teeth they made sure her blood looked good before putting her under. They also ran fluids while she was under so her blood pressure wouldn't fall unexpectedly. I sure like the way they do things. Seems like they watch every detail. Mitzi is doing great and no more bad breath, Yippee!!!! They have my vote for vet of the year!

I moved here from a pretty rural area and was use to vets that must have only done the basics. I lost a dog a few years ago while another vet was doing surgery to get something out that it ate. They told me it would be a routine surgery. They didn't do they things my new vet at Angel Animal Hospital does.
Last year my dog had a terrible accident and needed surgery. I took him to Angel. At first what they told me it would cost seemed like a lot of money. They wanted to do blood work and some kind of iv fluids. I asked if all that was really necessary. The doctor actually took the time to explain why we needed to do it. Seems the tests help them know if there is a problem before surgery and the fluids help avoid what probably happen to my other dog. Makes sense and they really seemed to care about his welfare.
Well he made it through just fine. I'll have all the confidence in the world in the folks at Angel and will always take my dog there.

I was shocked to read some of the reviews found at this site about Angel Animal Hospital. I too have been taking my pets to Angel for many years. While we all loved Dr. Snow and his way with our pets, I recognize the new owners have take the hospital to a higher level. Their staff are caring and compassionate people and I feel my pet is in very good hands every time she stays with them. She always seems to enjoy the time she spends there. I know things cost more now but they do a lot more for my pet than she ever got done before and I know it costs to provide that kind of service. I don't hesitate to highly recommend Angel Animal Hospital to anyone looking for Great Veterinary Care.

I took my pets to Angel Animal Hospital for 15 years. However, when they changed hands their philosophy on pet care changed as well. They are simply interested in your money rather than your pet. To obtain any necessary medicine your pet may need, they require unnecessary tests as well an unnecessary check up every six months. They use the guilt tactic to obtain more money from your pocket. Therefore, I would not recommend this vet!

I've taken my pets to Angel Animal Hospital for 15 years. However, when they changed hands, their philosphy changed. Their pricing went sky high. They use the guilt tactics to sway you into spending more money. They require unnecessary tests as well as a wellness check up every six months to simply obtain any perscriptions. Therefore, I would never recomend them. This used to be a great vet. It's sad to see it go. We miss you Dr. Snow!

Pros: location
Cons: long waits, rude and pushy vets, high pricing.
After taking our pets to Angel for almost 20 years, I was shocked and saddened to see what has happened to the facility. Not only did they change their procedures, prices, staff, etc. without any notification to patients/customers, they also run much less efficiently. It shouldn't take 1 1/2 hours to get a Bortatella inject! Our pets have moved on to a much more caring and efficient vet in the area. I'm sure Dr. Snow can not have imagined this happening to the practice he built up!

Angel was a great place to take your pets before Dr. Snow retired. Now their prices are high and they pressure you to buy all kinds of services. When I went in they tried to sell me a microchip, teeth cleaning, some new dental vaccine, various teeth cleaning products, their "new wellness plan", and flea and heartworm stuff that I already have. If I say no to one thing they are trying to sell me another. It's like a used car lot. I had to wait forever to get in and checkout is a whole other story. The vets are nice but unfortunately the manager is not and the girls up front obviously have no idea what they are doing.

They are practical and honest. They care very much for your pet's well being and are very thorough in their care. Their pricing is fair and honest. They are the most practical and inexpensive vet in town - but that should not be and indication of the care received because it is excellent. Our pets are a priority and we would not take them anywhere else!

Dr. Snow is an awesome vet. No Frills, clean, walk in appointments except for spay/neut & scheduled surgery. Check, cash only but it keeps their cost down so they don't pass it on to customers. Will bill for care, Nonpretentious.
PROS: Likes what they are doing.
CONS: No week end care

We have used Dr Snow and Angel Animal Hospital for years. Dr Snow is no frills. He cares about pets, is very thorough, and very knowledgeable. He is also willing to try to help you over the phone. The office itself is old and no frills, but it is clean. One thing I don't like is that they are cash or check only. I don't carry cash or my checkbook, so they will bill me or I just write down the total and send them a check when I get home. I also use the groomers and Angel. They book several weeks out, but we have always been pleased. This is a very professional, no nonsense, no frills veterinary hospital.

I had an emergency with my dog one morning and had to take her somewhere fast. Angel hospital fit us in and took care of us as quickly as possible. All employees were very helpful and they were very sympathetic to both myself and my dog.

This is a great affordable place to take your animals to. They are polite with you, and very patient with your pets. When my cat was neutered this was the only place that didnt insist or require extra shots before performing the surgery.
