Monterrey Mexican Restaurant

I love the mini bar in this place. While waiting to be seated we had a couple of cocktails and the bartender helps us so assuring. The food is also great.

Been here a few times for lunch and really like the food. Tastes very good, well cooked and the service is pretty good too. I would tell my friends.

Monterrey one of the best , university

Food was OK, but way overpriced. Most meals contain a red sauce reminiscent of italian pasta sauce, cheap ground beef, and tortillas. Don't eat here unless it is the only option. I would suggest Mexicasa in Harrisburgh!

this place must have a new chef. food really sucks and it seems that i never even get offered a refill. gave it few tries and i have to say i will never go back. on the other hand the Monterrey in matthews is excellent, SO MUCH different. chips are always fresh and they have really nice staff.

If only there were 10 stars! Put it this way, if you havent been u havent tasted mexican food! Everything I've had is delicious!

I've eaten there many times for lunch and always have excellent service and great food. Their lunch specials are a really good value and you get just the right amount of food. The chips and salsa are still served free of charge and they are fresh and tasty. Service is quick and food is always hot and fresh with excellent flavor, never too salty like some chains. I could eat there every day.

The fresh chips and salsa are awesome, they have some of the best quesadillas I've ever had, and they make a great Mojito.

I haven't had anything there that I didn't like, but being a college student I have to say that it is a little pricey to be so close to the university. If it were cheaper I would go a lot more.

I have been coming to Monterreys for 10 years with my boyfriend. It become my favorite mexican restaurant quickly. We moved away from Charotte but go every time we are back visiting! I get the Super Vegetarian Quesadilla and my boyfriend gets the chicken fajitas and they are amazing every time! The queso dip is so delicious! I usually smother my quesadilla with the queso dip and it makes it AMAZING! I love cheese though so that's probably why I keep coming back! The staff is extremely nice ans attentative. As you can imagine, they know us very well since we have been here many many times and they always greet us like we have kniwn them for years! They remember us! Its a MUST!

My Husband and I love to eat at MonterreyI am not a big mexican food fan but this is one place I really do enjoy. I love their taco salads and their chips are wonderfulI can always find something good to eat there.

When we lived in Charlotte, this was our favorite restaurant! We ate there at least once a week. Great chips and salsa, great service, food was excellent and the prices were great!

The margaritas were fantastic too!

Nice, clean, quick restaurant. Every item on their menu is good. The chips and salsa are at your table before you can open the menu. Very friendly people. We eat at one of the Monterrey's in town at least once a week.

Best valued mexican food in charlotte.The food is amazing and the service is very speedy. Also the cheese dip is to die for.

being in college im a pro at finding the most for my buck. that being said, i usually think twice before going to monterrey's. everytime i go its super slow for refried beans and rice. the menu is okay. nothing special. just tacos, burritos, etc. typical mexican fare. i didnt try the sangria but apparently i should..maybe next time. staff is really nice and thoughtful.

The chips and salsa are the best in town. Food is great- HUGE menu. Service can be slow. Great atmosphere. One downfall- We usually go with coupons we found in the paper- and they never honor them, for one reason or another. Still love the food though.

I went to Monterey's based on the recommendations found on CitySearch. It reminded me of an average type Mexican restaurant with average food, and average atmosphere. In other words, I was slightly disappointed. The staff was friendly, however the food was bland. I ordered a comination plate which was plenty of food, and I can eat a lot! Unfortunately I had to eat a lot of bland food with little to no spice or flavor to speak of. I had the Sangria which was again, nothing better than average, and I'm almost positive I could pull a recipe off the net and do as well. Also I drank 3 or 4 glasses of it and I felt no buzz. Hmmmmm... Anyway, if you are looking for a restaurant with good prices and boring food this place is the place for you. If you are looking for a ""WOW!"" than keep looking.

NOT ONLY DOES THIS PLACE HAVE WONDERFUL MEXICAN FOOD, IT ALSO HAS GREAT SANGRIA THAT IS MADE WITH FRESH FRUIT CUT UP INSIDE THE GLASS. IT IS SO SMOOTH, YOU DONT REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH YOU'VE HAD UNTIL YOU STAND UP. PLEASE TRY IT!!!

The portions are great. You definitely get enough food. They have great chips and salsa--the chips are not too greasy. The salsa is chunky. I like the fact that you can get a combination platter. I like the two enchilada and one taco. They are very accomodating to allow you to change out your hard taco for a soft and to change the types of enchiladas you get.

The authentic mexican food here is scrumptious... I reccomend everyone try Monterrey's.. they also have Pineville and Matthews locations.

My husband and I are fanatics about Mexican food, and this restaurant is one of the best out there. The food is wonderful everytime we have gone there, (I'd say twice a week for a least two months now), the service is great (they won me over by paying more attention to making my 4 year old happy than me), and the prices are reasonable. My family can eat for about $20.00 and that includes a 15-20% tip. Everyone in here is always willing to get you whatever you need (I perfer the mild salsa because I am pregnant) and they are very precise when it comes to making sure your order is fulfilled correctly. Allover...don't go anywhere else...the WT Harris Blvd location is spectacular! Plus, they meet and greet you at the door within seconds! What more can you ask for?

If you like authentic mexican food, and not the tex-mex crap, go to Monterrey. They have locations in the university area and south charlotte. I'm new to Charlotte, and I'm glad I found a great authentic mexican place! The meals are priced right, the plates are hot, and the service is fast. Plus, the margarita's are really good - I recommend the JUMBO.
