Arrived at the Inn with a conformation number and was told they had no record of my reservation. I was told the inn was full, but there might be a room across the road at their annex. Got the key, opened the door and there were bags and groceries. The CN Railroad had booked the entire place and I was shut out with no heads up. Desk clerk and manager both unhelpful.

Rented a room for one night. Took one look at the room, turned around and asked for a refund. The owner waived his NO REFUND policy written on the bottom of the receipt in my face and showed me the door. Called the police. The owner asked that we be removed from his parking lot. Police Officer said this happens all the time. If it weren't for the oil companies needing motel rooms so desperately in this area this man would be out of business.

We booked our room three weeks in advance at the Oakwood Inn for our visit to Minot earlier the day of our stay. We informed the staff at the Inn that we may be arriving late that evening as we were attending a concert and would not be arriving until after midnight. The lady who took my reservation said that wasn't a problem but the front door would be locked at that time so I had to ring the front doorbell for an attendant to let us in. She also requested that I call the day of the concert before 6:00pm to confirm that we were still going to arrive for our stay. I called at 5:00 as instructed and everything was a go. After leaving Minot at approx. 12:30am we headed for Rugby and the comfort of good night's sleep which was still an hour and a half away. By 2:00am we arrived at the Inn to find that the lights in the lobby were off and the door was locked as expected. I rang the bell as I was told to do and a voice on the intercom told me that there were no rooms available. I paused and proceeded to ring again. The result was the same response to which I responded "I have a reservation and was told to ring the bell after hours". The same voice repeated "there are no rooms". I rang again to make sure she heard what I had said. She eventually came to the door in a huff! She seemed very angry and told me to my face that they gave away our room. I asked why and got no answer. I was a little in shock as well as angry. At this point I knew it was a lost cause so I made sure the Inn didn't charge my credit card for a room I didn't use and we left only to drive home. Over four hours later and no sleep for almost 24 hours we made it home. That's my story. I would not recommend this Inn to anyone!

Stayed there 3 weeks - clean, quiet, friendly and helpful owners and staff. Good breakfast every am. Reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Nice place, friendly people, and a free continental breakfast in the am. Nothing fancy but you get a good nights sleep for a good price. This is the better place to stay in this town.
