After the incomparable Hong Hing sold in Westwood, we were hard pressed to find top quality Chinese food. Zagat's led us to Lotus, and we've been going back ever since. While not quite Hong Hing, it comes pretty close. Their sauces enhance each dish and the service is welcoming and warm. Delicate wantons enhance their soup. Sizzling Beef and Scallops and Twice Cooked Pork are recommended, but no matter what you order, Lotus is a cut above the average.

Most of the times I've been there, the place has been pretty crowded, but the wait isn't unbearable. The food is pretty good, though. They have a variety of dishes (most reasonably priced), and you won't be able to find food like it elsewhere.
It is definitely a place to recommend to others.

Lotus Caf is located in a quiet strip mall and boasts a beautiful lotus on its front entrance. The restaurant has a lovely fountain and boasts a wide range of asian cuisine. Foods such as pot stickers, pork fried rice, mei fun, and even Peking duck splatter the menu. There is truly food for everyone at the Lotus Cafe!

It's hard to find a Chinese restaurant in New Jersey that doesn't "Americanize" its food. I know this because I've been very critical with the places I've encountered. However, when my wife took me to Lotus Cafe, I could already tell that it was going to be different.
There's nothing fancy about the place. It's small and manageable, yet there is a good feeling to the restaurant. I knew I was going to be in for a treat, and I was right just looking through the menu. There were items on there that I hadn't seen in other Chinese restaurants and I knew at once that I was going to get more than what I bargained for.
I was impressed with the food that we ordered. I actually wanted to try more but my stomach can handle only so much. I liked the selections and liked what I tasted. Won ton soup actually looked like won ton soup instead of a perogie dumped into a soup bowl. I was glad to have some good noodle dishes and even more impressed with the cost of everything--all reasonable prices.
This place was a good find and my wife says she and her co-workers come here when they can. I can't fault them at all . I would be here everyday if I could as well.
PROS: Graet authentic dishes
CONS: Far away from me
