Fun bar with a lot of history. The old speakeasy with great atmosphere. I think I remember the environment more than the drinks or food there! Definitely worth checking out, but check the map first or you'll miss it!
3I truly miss this place. I went there when I first moved in the tri-state area and it became my "regular" spot after that. I really enjoyed the atmosphere especially during winter when they had the fireplace going.. A very cozy place. I

I heard about this place from a friend. We went and it was very crowded... The raspberry beer was very good. We didn't get to eat... but I heard that the burgers are very good here.

Pros: Steeped in history
Cons: Cold venue with a grumpy barman.
Seriously, it seems to be a trend that somehow it slips out to obnoxious tourists that there's a cool bar/restaurant that only people in the know know about. Then these tourist types flock there and stink up the place taking all the good

Great atmosphere ruined by stockbroker and tourist crowd. This means the beer prices are ridiculous and staff make "errors" with their addtion for a round of drinks. What a shame a potentially great place has gone down hill.

I like Chumleys because they began by breaking the federal laws when they opened. They do let you bring in your dog with you and are not bothered with the laws that say you cannot bring in your dog. I have sat at a table of seven people

She was incredibly rude and nearly ruined our night. Keep your eye out for her - she's the tubby one with an attitude from hell. She also spills drinks on patrons. Apart from that we go all the time and love it.

It was really packed. And took us awhile to find our own seats. After that things went smoothly. The waitress, overworked, didn't get around to us as much as we would have liked, but when she did, she was attentive (and hot-- with eyes

This is the kind of place for 4 guys or 6 girls to hang out at and talk about their relationship problems. The ambiance is very dumpy-looking and the bartender is angry. I would never bring a woman here on a date or go with a group of

There is no sign, but you can still find this West Village former speakeasy. Word has it that F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote part of the Great Gatsby here. The service is fine, the setting attractive, but rustic at the same time with sawdust on
