I started seeing Dr. Neltner after being referred to him by Peggy from ARF. I took my female Boxer Sophie to see him and he was wonderful. I have since gotten another Boxer, Boston, and a Pit mix named Ajay. I have been seeing Dr. Neltner and occasionally his associate Galvin for 2 years and I love them all. The staff are very caring, patient, and helpful. I've been given the option to buy meds at the local pharmacy when possible to save money and given a good customer discount for medications that my dog needed. Dr. Neltner spayed and neutered all my dogs and even did surgery on my dog Boston to repair his eye after it was injured. I have never had any issues with getting an appointment and have had the vet techs call to check on my dogs every time they've been seen for an illness or injury. I would highly recommend Dr. Neltner and his staff to anyone who needs caring, thorough animal care at a very reasonable price.

This is where I got my dog Macie spayed. They did a great job, they are reasonably priced. Its where we plan on going for exams and shot for now on! I read bad reviews, but from people around this area I always heard great things about Neltner.

Let me tell you about Dr. Specht. This woman let a kitten die because of her ego and ignorance. A close friend of mine found a kitten huddled inside of a car near the motor and obviously in pain. The family rushed it to Dr. Specht who misdiagnosed it, not recognizing that the poor little thing had a broken hip as well as other problems. Even her staff knew that the kitten had immediate needs and voiced this to Dr. Specht who was angry that her staff spoke up and she quickly discounted their concerns and comments about the kitten's welfare. Dr. Specht sent the kitten home and it deterioriated quickly. The family returned home from work the following day to find the kitten shivering and barely able to move. They rushed it back to Dr. Specht who refused to admit her mistake, seeming angry at the family as well as her staff. One staff member spoke up telling the family that Dr. Specht misdiagnosed the kitten and that the whole staff knew this but that Dr. Specht would not admit her mistake. This INHUMANE mistake cost the kitten it's life and forced the poor thing to endure a miserable demise at Dr. Specht's hands. Not to mention the costs associated to the family both emotionally and monetarily.

I love Dr.Neltner. I recently had my dog Big ED neutured by Dr.Neltner through the Br.Cty Humane Socioty and he was wonderful. JUST the fact that these people do these services for a VERY resonable rate which makes it affordable for people like me who have several animals is a Blessing. And to those haters out there. No one is perfect...And people have a very ugly habit of BLOWING things way out of the scope of what they really are...Thank you Dr.Neltner to you and your staff. The ONLY reason I never give 5 stars is I bellieve that there is ALWAYS room for improvment!

I just wanted to say thank you to the clients of Bethel Tate Veterinary Hospital for letting me become a part of your lives. Things deteriorated quickly after Dr. Neltner was fired and unfortunately, Dr. Specht has let all of the staff go that currently worked at the hospital. Speaking for all of us, we've enjoyed getting to know everyone and your pets. We've shared laugher, tears, and made many good friends. We will miss seeing you and your pets, but hope that you continue to have many good years together. Autumn, Dani, Summer & I thank you for all of your kind words of encouragement and wish you all the best.

I have never dealt with Dr. Specht myself, but I have dealt with Dr. Neltner and it is a shame that Bethel-Tate veterinary hospital has chosen to cut his services. I will no longer take a pet to them or recommend them to anyone. I have known Dr. Neltner for many years even prior to his coming to Bethel and I am sorry to see him go. He is a wonderful doctor and person.
I have heard many stories about Dr. Specht from friends and no one has ever recommended her to me. The stories I have heard are horrible ones. I do understand that these are rumors, but I also know that the prices are jacked up too high at this practice. I hope that Dr. Neltner can go on and possibly open his own practice. GOOD LUCK Dr. Neltner. You are loved by the patients and the families of the patients you have treated in the past. You are a world Class Doctor no matter what.

Dr. Neltner will be sadly and greatly missed. I agree whole heartedly with "jenny m." that there are other good vet's in town but they aren't Dr. Neltner. He is not only a brillant and kind vet, but a wonderful teacher, and friend. Thanks are more than due to his staff as his leaving has left them at not only a loss but the target for some very angry patrons. Don't forget folks that this is not their fault...they will miss him even more than we will. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS Stephanie, Autumn, Dani, and Summer, you are good people and I for one appriciate all of your efforts as I am very sure Dr. Neltner does. It is my sincere hope that he continues to practice elswhere as a loss of his talent and skill would be a hard blow to our areas vet services. Dr. Specht's practice will undoubtedly suffer greatly by her decision to let him go.

I myself have had a miserable experience with Dr. Specht. Yes, her prices are too high. She doesn't offer to write prescriptions to people who don't have the funds to pay her prices. I have called other vets for drug prices & she is 30% - 50% higher. She often requires bloodwork and then doesn't even call me with the results! After a week of waiting, my pet could be dead. She doesn't return phone calls. If you call the clinic with a question, she won't speak with you, she has her staff talk with you (bless them) while she stands next to them. I had my dog in for an examination and she didn't even TOUCH him! She just looked at him. Didn't look in his ears, listen to his lungs or heartbeat. Would our human doctors do that? The last time I was in, she seemed incoherent. She kept mumbling & repeating herself & didn't make any sense at all. Another time, when I went in to buy Frontline, there was a couple in the lobby upset with the quality of care they had received on their dog. They had been there repeatedly for an ear infection and were given the same doses of drugs in a two week period! One of the drugs was required to be used for a full month & less than 2 weeks later, they received the same drugs and usage instructions and hadn't even finished the first dose. Does this woman ever check her own records??? This woman said (in the lobby to the staff) that she doesn't trust her. Who can blame her? I know of another lady who took her rescued dog to Dr. Specht because it was exhibiting normal male dog symptoms & was told by Dr. Specht that the dog was neutered. After an examination by Dr. Neltner, she was told the dog was indeed NOT neutered, the testicles had never dropped. She had Dr. Neltner neuter her dog. Point in question is WHAT VETERINARIAN CANNOT TELL IF A DOG IS NEUTERED? Where did she get her license? Ebay?
Dr. Neltner and the staff seem to be trying to uphold the standards of veterinary care, but there is only so much they can do. I do still take my pets to see Dr. Neltner. He has proven to be an excellent vet. I was recently told when I called to schedule a surgery that he will not be doing the bulk of the surgeries anymore & when I stated that I only wanted him to operate was told he will be doing surgeries on Fridays now. But, if you want him, you have to request him. Otherwise, Dr. Specht will be doing the surgeries. (Another change made by Dr. Specht) For the safety of my animals, only Dr. Neltner will EVER touch them. He has been doing surgeries there for many years & after inquiring around town, Dr. Specht hasn't done many. I'm sure you can ask her yourself how many she's done in the past year. I would recommend Dr. Neltner to anyone.

The review from Barbara M sounds great---what she didn't say was--- Barbara M is Dr Spechts SISTER, and the owner of the dog was an EMPLOYEE of Dr Specht. Try getting Dr Specht to answer her phone on a Sunday or a holiday----unless you are an employee or a special pateint she won't answer it!! I have tried to get her out to see my horse on a Sunday for an emergency and she wouldn't answer her phone OR return my page. I had to call Dr Norvell ---he had me bring the horse to his clinic but at least he treated my horse. Katie

When my lab had cancer in his throat, Dr Neltner said he removed a tumor, but if he did or only some of it, we had about three weeks of aspiration pneumonia and still a tumor. Dr Neltner showed no concern for my pain or my anxiety over the decision I was facing. His attitude was totally callous. He actually acted like my decision to have him do the surgery had not been the best thing for my dog. After the fact. I depend on my veterinarian to advise me, then allow me to make the decision I feel is right for my pet. He set me up for many regrets. There were no alternative treatments offered for my dog and no support for me.

Dr. Neltner is the greatest vet I have had contact with. I use to work for the animal shelter so I have worked with lots of vets. The vet does not make the appointments-treat the animal-dispense the medications-take the money-etc. The vet does treat the animal ,other tasks are done by his staff. If the staff asked the doc about the date on the medication and he said it was ok, then it is. I would trust my animals with Dr. Neltner any time.We are lucky to have a vet like him in Bethel. I do agree that prices are high, but check out other vets also-prices are high everywhere. On line prices for medication are cheap-with no guarantees. Your animals are part of your family. Would you medicate your child with a discount drug with no guarantee to save a buck. You get what you pay for .Margie Crawford

Took our brand new puppy in for his 1st check & shots. They treated him with care, and the Dr. took time to really explain about caring, training, and raising a small house dog. I was very impressed with the amt of info for me, and the vet appointment was very reasonable. I would recommend them. It's a busy place, with a hardworking staff, so don't miss your appointments!!

The Bethel-TateVet Hospital has a loving, caring, professional staff. They take excellent care of my 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 horses. Dr Specht has helped us with numerous starved, injured, rescue animals. She has always responded quickly to emergency calls. We spent many hours last Christmas Eve and into the early morning working on an injured horse. She and her staff are well trained individuals that love animals. They go above and beyond in working with each animal to make them feel comfortable and relaxed while taking care of their needs. I have and will continue to recommend them to anyone with large or small animals. Signed; an extremely satisfied pet owner.

I do not recommend this vet. I took my dog there and was over charged for prescriptions. Then once I arrived home I saw that the prescription they prescribed was expired (one year ago). This one prescription was $25.70. Which I later found on line to be $9.15. I called the vet to explain to them what had happened and they then told me that the expired prescription would be fine the only reason they had an expiration date on them was because they were required to have them by the FDA. This vet is are trying to charge people high dollar for prescriptions that are no longer (good).

Message from Bethel-Tate Veterinary Hosp

Hey folks! I need your help. I want to focus my team on caring for our clients & patients & spend any spare time & dollars on charitable care for disadvantaged animals in our area. As you know many of us now use the internet to do our initial review of products & services. Unfortunately it is also widely MISused to disseminate false information & malicious intentions. I have effectively been black-listed on insiderpages.com by a single very negative review that I have no way of tracking, confirming, or correcting, let alone conveying my apologies if I were to find that the concern was legitimate. I hope I can count on you all to share your honest & heartfelt opinions of our practice family with the internet community as much as you have shared directly with me & my team here at the clinic. Please, if you have ANY concerns about our service, our level of care, or the basis for our prices, I hope you will contact me directly, and give us the chance to redeem ourselves with you and your animals.

Sincerely, Dr. Brenda Specht
