The idea of this farm is a very nice one. They have actual weaving demonstrations and other examples of pioneer life. We were fortunate to have two very good historical interpreters on the site, but the reason for the poor ratings above are due to the very rude and hostile nature of two other historical interpreters. Specifically, the cook and the schoolteacher. Whenever they were asked any questions, they responded with sarcastic comments which showed that they were in fact trying to cover up for their lack of knowledge in the subject matter. For example, when someone asked the cook what she was going to do with the leg of lamb she was cooking she responded with "Well, what do you do with the food that you cook?" As the afternoon proceeded it turned out she couldn't serve it to anybody because of regulations and she was just going to give it away to some of the other workers if they wanted it, so her retort was severely out of place. After all, an educational facility such as Hale Farm and Village is supposed to foster an environment of learning and inquisitiveness into the past. Not a hostile one where people are belittled which was in fact what the cook and the schoolteacher seemed to delight in doing.

I recently took my younger cousins to Hale Farm and Village. I do not recommend it for younger children because there was not that much interaction activities that they could do. However, the land and houses are beautiful if you like to view antique things. I enjoyed myself but I do not think my younger cousins had a great time.

PROS: Relaxing
CONS: Not for young children

Fall is a great time to visit Hale Farm. The scenery is fantastic, and they have tons of activities for everyone. They have colonial days where you can view the making of candles and how people lived back in olden times. Admission is very affordable - especially for what you get. I recommend a visit at least once!

I enjoy driving by Hale Farm - if you're going to go, the best time is of course fall. The trees in that whole area just EXPLODE with color, and make fantastic backdrops for pictures.

It's fun, easygoing, pretty inexpensive. I recommend.

This is a wonderful way to show your children how the mid-19th century people lived in the Western Reserve. You can watch them spinning and weaving, demonstrating glassblowing, making pottery and more. You can see all the crafts and how the farmer takes care of his oxen. People are in costume and talk about the mid-1800.

They have Civil War Reenactments also that are worth seeing.

Visiting Hale Farm & Village is like taking a step back in time to the 1800's. After you leave your car, nearly everything you see is appropriate for the way things were in colonial times. There is a farm as well as period houses and interactive exhibits such as brick-making or metal-working. Every person working at Hale Farm & Village is dressed in period clothing, and that makes the village definitely feel as if it were plucked straight from the 1800's. It is great to take children on an outing to this village as they will have a lot of fun while learning about life in the colonial period. Hale Farm & Village is quite inexpensive, so you may even decide to pick up a souvenir of the day at their shop.

PROS: Inexpensive, great for kids, everything is appropriate for the 1800's
CONS: None

living history museum. A visit to Hale farms will transport you to a time gone by. Costumed pioneers telling the story and bringing the time period to life. Learn the culture, beliefs values and lifestyles of these people. See crafts people demonstrating their craft, farmers tending their fields and the lady of the house going about her daily chores. Prices and hours of opperation are reasonable.....fun time for the whole family

in the Western Reserve is a must do for all families. If you or your children don't know the earliest of Ohio history, this is the place to go. Costumed guides demonstrate the skills needed to survive during that period of time.

PROS: Large area of land, animals, etc..
CONS: cost unless you buy a family pass, weather can hamper a visit
