Interesting fare -- from wild game to a vegetarian's delight. Boasts a mammoth bean burger. Great atmosphere in the heart of Kennett, fairly upscale for downtown. Parking is a bit tricky, but side streets are available.

The Half Moon restaurant serves delicious and creative food. Their menu is interesting an encourages diners to order beyond their usual preferences. I've eaten at Half Moon only once, but I can't wait to go back again.

I love the Half Moon Cafe, upstairs in the evening, plants and a warm summer breeze. A big plate of crab nachos and a Dirty Ho (a mixed beer that tastes of berry) and good company. The menu has a good variety ranging from apple spinner salad (yummy) to buffalo. My recommendation is the crab nachos. They have gotten a bit light on the crab but still yummy. The downstairs bar can be noisy and the downstairs restaurant has uncomfortable booths (no padding just high wooden booths) but that's a minor complaint.

Belgian beers, wild game food, Chilean wines and a glass enclosed roof top atrium for watching the sunsets is an awesome experience. Highly recommed dining experience.

I found my repeated visits to the Half Moon exceeded my hopes. The menu is incredibly varied from simple to amazing. The seafood is perfectly prepared with unexpected wild game and casual fare. You get what you want from this restaurant, whether up or down scale. A great mixture of cuisine with a genuine local tap. Those Belgian beers are a journey alone. Just when you're tired of the area's mushroom theme, check out what they do with a range of mushrooms . The art displays add to a relaxing atmosphere. I would send anyone here for a great food and mix of atmospheres. Half Moon is a great break from the Brandywine stiffness and immediately feels like home, or better.

Like the moon itself, the restaurant has two sides to it...the loud, sometimes smoky bar and seating area downstairs featuring Belgian beers, tin ceilings, and roomy booths and the airy rooftop non-smoking deck filled with plants and views of the countryside (and surrounding buildings). Best bets are the requisite crab nachos that put other bar-variety nachos to shame, and the daily menu specials featuring very fresh and generally well-prepared wild game and seafood items. Make sure to save room for the luscious desserts from Sweet Somethings Bakery in Wilmington, especially the chocolate silk pie or white chocolate raspberry cake.
