This is one of the best places to bring your children! Everything is very interesting and captivating, it makes for a great experience. It can get a little crowded on the weekends so I would suggest trying to get there on a week day.

i remember as a child going to the Franklin Institue on field trips and being awed by it all - especially the beating human heart you walked through !!

30 years later that heart is still there -plus so much more .

Your child will have the experience of learning while having fun doing it all by touching and trying things out themselves not by just watching a film etc.
Learn about electricty - aviaton - gravity - how the early scientist did what they did and so much much more.

The planetarium is also very exciting to go to !

It can be a bit on the pricey side but well worth it for what you get to experience !!

i have found a year long family pass can't be beat especially if you are like me and have a larger family .

i wasnt too impressed with the food so if you can bring a picnic lunch i would do that and save some money !!

This museum is one of Philadelphia's treasures. It is very hands on for children and very educational. There is always an exhibit which will spark interests for young and old. There are two things I think are most recognized in this museum and that is the locomotive train which really moves several feet and the heart which you can walk through.

There is also a planaterium which is additional in the cost but so worth it.

THis is a really cool museum. In the front yard, a real Wright Brothers airplane. Inside, lote of neat stuff, and an IMAX theater, and a planetarium. Also be sure to check out the neighborhood. THe huge Philadelphia Public Library, and art school/galley, the Please Touch Museum (scheduled to move to Fairmont Park in a few years) and in the middle of the circle, a really huge, historic fountain. On hot summer days, dozens of toddlers and kids wade in here. The place to be!

We love this museum. Everything is hands on and you learn a ton while you have a great time. My sons love the replica of the heart that you can walk through!! We went into a great big maze the last time we were there too. There are always new things to try and the older exhibits are fun to try again and again!!

This museum is a great museum for all ages to learn about science and technology. they also have an imax program and different halls for different science field. such as aerospace, railroad, space, mechanics, etc. Also theyre coming out with a new exhibit, something about Bones. Supposed to be very interesting. Oh I forgot to add about the weather room in Franklin Institute. Thats a great thing to see.

This is a cool place to take kids of all ages. There is so much to see you can't do it all in a day. There are a lot of interactive exhibits and updated features.

There is so much to do here from looking at bugs, learning about electricity, dinosaurs, or walking through a human heart. A friend of mine even had a wedding here. So much fun, so much to do.

PROS: Fun, lots to do, huge.
CONS: Parking is expensive.

Learn about electricity, walk through a human heart, ride a steam locomotive, learn about Africian culture, see a HUGE pedulum clock, learn about bicycle history or have a hands on lesson about photography. There is so much to see you need an entire day to see it all. Also there is a planitarium DONT MISS THIS. You can also go on the roof and look through one HUGE telescope and actually see planets (if weather cooperates). Parking is underground near museum.

PROS: Nothing
CONS: nothing

The Franklin Institute is good family fun. If you don't mind sleeping on the hard floor, the kids love going to the campins. The Imax theater always has a good selection of movies to choose from as well as the changing exhibits.
