Avon shows an excellent variety of independent and foreign films. The location on Thayer Street is very close to local restaurants and stores... you will just have to park off-street somewhere and walk over. The seats are comfortable and the screen is clear from anywhere in the theater. Definitely check out the films they have to offer. You'll find movies you won't find anywhere else.

This gem sparkles on Thayer St. A true escape during Wintersession Blues in snowwy Prov. They show great artsy flicks and watch out for their special midnight showings! Once they showed "Reservoir Dogs."

An old time feel, complete with red velvet seats (albeit a tad uncomfortable) and a pretty front lobby, where the ticket seller will surely provide you with a crisp two dollar bill as change. The movies shown here are first run and not the kind you'll find at the multiplex. Keep an eye out for the weekend midnight shows which can range from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" to "Some Like it Hot" to "Fight Club".

Pros: Movies, two dollar bills (who has those anymore?), vintage concession reel at start of each film ("Let's all go to the lobby...")

Cons: seats are not all that comfy and the rows are narrow, so if one is slighty larger than your average bear it can be a bit snug. On street parking can be tough to find on a weekend night.

This theater has been a staple on the Eastside of Providence. Showing lots of limited run and indie films. Prices aren't too bad, but be prepared to have a struggle to find some parking. I spent many nights in my teen years here watching indy films and classics. It will always have a fond spot in my heart.

One of two truly great theaters in Providence, the other being the Cable Car. The seats are exceptionally cramped... evidently the owner believes his customers to be mainly sardines... but the movies you see there are worth the strange combination of numbness and shooting pain that will travel through your legs for two hours.
