This is by far the best tattoo shop in Austin. I have been getting tattooed here for years and will never go anyplace else!! Craig Sheets has done both of my custom-designed sleeves and I could not be any happier with the design outcome

I would highly avoid this place. I went in to get a simple tattoo. Not only was Jason rude, but looked like he had a hangover. He spent more time stopping what he was doing, which was work, and spent more time txt messaging on his phone. He work is shoddy at best. He really need to also clean himself up and look at little professional. His ego is big but his work is horrible. Go elsewhere.

In 2000, I moved to Austin the & wanted to mark the occasion by getting my 1st Tattoo. I drove by Atomic North dozens of times and finally decided to check it out. I looked through a portfolio by an artist named ""Tim."" (He's not there anymore thank God!) His portfolio looked respectable and I had a picture of the exact tattoo I wanted, a tribal Shark Circle. I thought it would simple enough and paid $90.

""Tim"" then proceeded to deface my chest deeply and tattooing his square version of my drawing larger than the drawing, off center without even stenciling or drawing on me 1st, Being a 1st timer I thought this was normal. There was so much blood, he cut deep,a and it was on my chest so I couldn't see what he was doing. It hurt like hell.

When ""Tim"" was done I had a square tattoo instead of a circular one in the drawing i gave him. I was in shock that this jerk would deface my body so badly rather than refer me to someone who knew what they were doing. The owner of Atomic North saw the picture and theTim's horrible results the next day. None of the shark fins or tails were the same size and it looked nothing like the drawing. The owner actually gave me a full refund because ""Tim"" did such an awful job. But I've had to live with this monstrosity for 10 years now, and it sadens me whenever I look at it.

There was no L.A. Ink show back then. Kat Von D & Cory Miller, 2 of the best tattoo artists in the world, will DRAW FREEHAND on someone occasionally, and then OK it with the client, but they never ever TATTOO FREEHAND. If only show like L.A. Ink existed in 2000.

I ran into ""Tim"" at the old Ritz Club on 6th months later and he tried to talk to me. I said simply, ""I recognize you. I don't ever want to talk to you. You ruined my life.""

I hope ""Tim"" is out of the tattoo business am disgusted with Atomic North for hiring someone so inexperienced who has scarred me for life with an awful tattoo! The only reason I didn't give them a 0 rating is because it wouldn't let me.

I went to Christ a little over a year ago and got my husbands name tattooed on my rite inner forearm. HE DID AN AMAZING JOB on it...totally exceeded my expectations! It was only my 3rd tattoo so I was a little nervous but he totally made me feel at ease shooting the s*@t and cracking jokes and was NOT unprofessional ONE TIME!! My brother in law stayed with m while I was getting it done and he LOVED the work so much he is going to Chris when he is ready for his second. My best friend and I are going in next month to get matching tattoos and using Chris. So is my husband when he gos in to get our 4 kids names done. I have had SO MANY compliments on the quality of work on my arm and I always recomend Chris when someone I know is looking for an artist. I cant wait to go back and get MORE!!

I recently finished a two tattoo project with Mike Pain at Atomic Tattoo & Body Piercing on Burnet. From the time I started to explain the idea until the finishing touches, this tattoo was a great experience. \r
\r
When a person wants a tattoo, they don't realize what it takes to put the design idea onto paper, and then onto skin. Mike was clear on exactly what was possible and took all the print outs and randomness of my idea and turned it into something really beautiful. \r
\r
The lines are so perfect, and the fill is even and bright. I have strangers comment on how cool it looks. In fact, I'm not planning on going to any one else anytime soon. \r
\r
If you're looking to get a tattoo, do yourself a favor and prepare the idea before you go in. Go look at tattoo books, print out ideas, write up a list of whats most important. In short, know what you want -but BE OPEN to the artists suggestions. You will have a much more positive experience. \r
\r
If you want the best, go to Mike Pain!\r

I got my first tattoo at the Burnett location tonight. Dallas was the artist I worked with. Walking in at 9ish, being kind of a yuppy-looking late 30s guy, I wasn't made to feel unwelcome or ""what are you doing here?"" He worked with me on the vague idea I had in my head for what I wanted and sketched out a great design. He could tell I was nervous (or maybe I came out and told him, I don't remember!) but he gave me a good idea of what I was getting into, kept me informed along the way to let me know how close to being done he was, and in general was quick, skilled (as far as I can tell so far), and professional. The place was clean, well lit, and in general pretty approachable. He even took a picture of it for me with my cell phone before covering it, geek that I am. He said he was new at the studio and didn't have written instructions for after-care, but he went over them verbally several times. He covered it with saran wrap, which I guess is a personal preference, but there is where written instructions would have helped allay my concerns when the first thing I read after googling ""how to care for my new tattoo"" said ""saran wrap....bad!""\r
\r
All in all, I'm pleased with my experience there and my new tattoo. I would recommend them.

I've had several tattoos and ear stretchings done at the Burnet location, and while I can understand why some people might feel intimidated... you should know that a tattoo is not going to help your self esteem if you're already having issues:( I have had nothing but great experiences here, and I have referred many of my friends and coworkers. I just read some of the not so shining reviews and I noticed that each one specifies that' the person ' giving the review was dressed like a dork and 'wah-wah-wah' was treated like crap. Not to mention they each strategically put the name of a competing tattoo shop in their reviews. Kinda dooshy if you ask me. Yes there are a ton of good shops around Austin, but from my experiences, I haven't seen anything out there that makes me want to switch shops. I recommend you only go to Atomic if you want a serious tattoo, not if you're looking for someone to blow hot air up your rear to make you comfortable.

Pros: Artists all have extensive experience & backgrounds

Cons: Other tattoo shops are jealous;)

I read all the reviews here before chancing it at Atomic- but I figured I would check it out anyway. I walked into the Burnet location, and yes I admit I looked a little like a deer in headlights- I had never been in a tattoo shop before, and there was all kinds of flash to look at, so it was a little overwhelming. But regardless, instead of being helpful- the guy at the front took it as a chance to jump all over me and be a total jerk. While I was talking about what I wanted, the woman sitting behind the counter was rolling her eyes, because apparently I'm not quite badass enough for them. Then I watched as a tattoo artist talked to another customer like they were a total idiot. At that point, I knew i wouldn't be choosing them. So, sorry to say that those negative reviews probably AREN'T made up. Really- don't waste your time here...there are MUCH better tattoo shops in Austin (I ended up going to Southside, and it was a totally different experience...in a good way!)

I'm working my way up to getting my first tattoo. All I need to do is turn 18! While I was at work one night, me and a co-worker of mine were talking about tattoo's, and she referred me to her tattooist. We called him up, and he was pleased to hear that I wanted a tattoo. That next weekend I went down to see him, and he worked with me to help me find the perfect position and everything that I want. After our first meeting, I have been going down there every few weeks, and the pictures that my tattooist has come up with for me are absolutely breath-taking.
Every time I walk in, I am professionally greeted, and I receive excellent service.
So far, making the trip down there has definitely been worth my time. I'm extremely excited to see what the outcome of my tattoo will look like.
The price is definitely fair, I think, for all the detail that will be going into my tattoo.
With the way I have been treated so far, I'm sure the after effect of my tattoo will be tremendously great.

I have six tattoos and wanted two more, to celebrate this year for me. First of all, I turned 21, and secondly, I got early admissions to Yale Law! For my 21st, I knew exactly what I wanted. I'm 1/2 Greek and was raised by my Greek grandmother, so I got Greek characters for 21 on my inner arm. But I didn't know what to get to commemorate the other, so a team (that's right!) worked with me to learn more about me and my perspective/attitude/reasons for going to Yale and working so hard to get there, and we decided on ""de iure"" on my heart, since it is so important to me. ""de iure"" means ""according to the law"" in Latin, and legal jargon is chock full of Latin, so it was perfect!

The staff is friendly and they charge a decent price for what you get. I went to a different place and they were so dirty I had to walk out. But atomic is fairly clean and the instruments look well taken care of.

I wanted to commorate my 50th birthday with a tattoo, but I didn't have a clue where to start. I met a girl at Kerby Lane who showed me her new tattoo, it was beautifully detailed, the lines were thin and the colors bright.I didn't know a tattoo could be such a work of art. Scott at Atomic Tattoo on Burnt Rd. was the artist. After breakfast we headed there. When I walked in Scott greated us,(my husband & me), he was very nice, told me to look around to get an idea what I wanted,I decided on a humming bird. He drew it out several times untill it was exactally what I wanted. He was very patient. He put the stencil on me, had me look at it to be sure I liked the placement and explained how it was going to feel.We also talked about the colors he would use.It came out beautiful, I am so pleased with it, I show every body I know. Two days ago I went back to Scott and got a flower to go with the bird, it's gorgeous,I love it.I waited a long time to get a tattoo and I am glad I found such a profesional to do it.

I got my first (and only) tattoo at Atomic's MLK location. I thought I'd feel awkward in the shop, but everyone in this place was laid-back and friendly. Seriously, the negative reviews have to be bullshite. I never write reviews, but I felt like these negative feedbacks had to be discredited. The guys at the MLK location were genuine and friendly people. Just stop by and talk to them if you don't believe me. I'd make a fawkin infomercial for them. My girlfriend and I went into the shop with a design, and the artist, Silver, sketched something up pretty quick. He gave me a price quote and then asked if I wanted to continue. I said yes and he finished the sketch. Silver knocked it out of the park. I told him to use his artist senses for the coloring and he did. Thanks to Atomic, I think I might be addicted to tattoos. My girlfriend really liked the work Silver did. So much that she almost considered going in the next day to get her first tattoo too.

Honestly, one of my better piercing experiences. I just came in to browse with an vague inkling of getting a piercing (haha) The guy was super nice, friendly, answered all my questions w/ no pressure. I ended up getting my tongue pierced, painless by the way and I still have it 4 years later. These guys are great and I recommend them all the time.

I read them online first, and picked out my artist. When I went there, I got the weirdest look from the guy at the desk (I think it was the pink Longhorn jersey I was wearing). I told him I had read their website and had picked out the artist I wanted. He said the artist wasn't there, but anybody else could do it. I said I really liked that artists' work. He said call around 5. So, just to be on the safe side, I called at 6 and talked to the artist. It was horrible! Talk about the cold shoulder! This guy might have just as well hung up on me! I tried to tell him about the tattoo I wanted, and he said he would have to see what it looked like because he had never heard of a dream catcher. I said what time can I come by? He said anytime. I'd name a time, and he would say he had an appointment at that time. I'd name another time, he would have an appointment. I started naming other days and times, and he either had appointments or was off. I once again asked him what would be a good time. He said anytime. At this point, I decided to give up. I was tired of the runaround. If they didn't want my business, that was fine. I would go elsewhere, and I did.\r

Pros: Colorful

It's immediately obvious to anyone who has been into an Atomic Tattoo that the last two reviews are bogus. Total fabrications. Probably by someone at another shop as a lame attempt to lure away business from Atomic. I have been tattooed and pierced at three of the locations and I can assure everybody reading this that the staff at Atomic are very friendly, very professional and very clean. I have always been made to feel welcome every time I have been to Atomic and can't imagine ever trusting my body to any other tattoo shop.\r

I went to Atomic on Burnet Rd to get a small tattoo and a nose piercing. I walked in and waited 10 minutes until someone came out from the back room. Since I brought a small design of what I wanted for my tattoo, I showed it to the person Mike?? and he said he could do it for $60. And the piercing would cost $80. I was nervous about getting both done at the same time and agreed. While I was signing up, he asked me if I had gone to any other shops in Austin, I told him I had visited three different shops. He was quick to tell me what was wrong with every one of them. This should have been my first clue about this place. The shops I had visited were not at all like he described them. In fact, if I had it to do all over again, I would have (and should havewalked out then). The place was dirty, the artist was rude and they all made me feel uncomfortable. I let them do my tattoo which needed a touch-up. I didn't let them do my nose piercing. When I called back three weeks later, they wanted to charge me another $60! At that point, I told them I would get it fixed somewhere else. They said ""Go ahead!"". So I did and now it looks great. They left several spots blank and the lines were not straight. Makes me wonder what they were doing in the back room! Went to another shop in the area to get my nose pierced and told them of my experience with Atomic. They were empathetic and did not ""bad rap"" them even thought they could have. That's class! Or, should I say professional?\r
Either way, my experience with Atomic was horrible and will never recommend them to anyone. I have since talked with other people who have had that same experience at Atomic. \r

Cons: Bad Work, Dirty, and Overpriced

I got a tattoo by one of the guys there. Can't remember his name, but I believe he was one of the newer guys. I was getting an open book on my wrist, covering up a little heart I had on there. The artist told me it would be difficult since it was so dark, but he could do it. At first he tells me it'll be $80. Then just before we're supposed to start he says actually, it'll be $100. I should have stopped him right there. So I get the tattoo, it looks...weird. The heart is still clearly visible. People ask me if I have a moth on my wrist. It's full of wonk. I figure maybe it will look better healed. Nope. Looks worse. Iffy shading, wobbly lines, and that damn heart is still as bright as ever. I called back to see if I could get it touched up...and they said it would be a minimum of $60. Right. I'd rather go to someone who actually knows how to tattoo and pay THEM then this stupid shop who ripped me off.

Pros: Reasonable price

Cons: Poor communication, terrible work

This is about the new Atomic on research that used to be Tattoo Zoo.\r
DO NOT USE CHRIS!!! He only works there on mondays. I brought my own art in and he made one side very lopsided (No matter which way you move your arm) He also went very deep to the point of almost scarring on part of the design. and one of my small e's is filled in. He also had to stop and smoke a cigarette like my time is not important!!\r
Thats All!

So, I am not a pierced person by any stretch of the imagination, but decided to get a discreet piercing. . . I was pretty nervous, even though I had researched for a few months prior to going. \r
\r
When I went in to look at the location, I decided right away that I felt comfortable there. I met with Jay. She was awesome. Answered all of my questions that I asked. . . twice. And after the piercing, she turned on a fan and gave me water to cool me down. She was super nice and attentive and a week later the piercings look great and clean! Plus, there is a totally cute boutique there too :)

I visited Atomic Tattoo almost 3 weeks ago to discuss buying jewelry and having a piercing Gauged up. I have 7 tattoos and 1 piercing from shops where I went to college in Savannah, GA, So i'm familiar with how shops work and what constitutes good service. I was referred to the shop owner, who discussed the piercing with me and said he'd have to order my jewelry. Okay, cool. A week later I still haven't heard from him, so i call, and I'm told he's out of town. A week later I call, and get him on the phone and he says he hasn't had time to order my jewelry. A week after that I call again, and get his personal email, which I emailed on Monday and still haven't heard a reply. If they don't want to serve me, they don't get my business. And they probably don't deserve yours either.

Pros: it's a local tattoo shop

Cons: they could care less about helping many people

I have been trying to create a tattoo for over three years and have been to many shops and spoke to many artists. I have even paid some of the artist for their time and drawings. Many of the artists that I spoke to and worked with only wanted to draw their vision and what they thought my idea should look like. \r
This was not my first tattoo so I would not and could not be persuaded to do it their way.\r
It was only when I met Mike Pain that my vision of my tattoo came to life. \r
Mike took the time to sit down with me and go over all my ideas and give me great advice on what would work and would not. \r
Tattoo?s are forever and I would only let a TRUE artist create something so personal and so permanente on my body. \r
Mike took my vision and created something far beyond what I had imagined. Mike Pain will be the only artist that I will have for my tattoos. If you want great work and something you will be proud to show go see Mike Pain!!!\r

Mike Pain, Mike Pain, Mike Pain...............There is not enough I can say for this man.... I have had Mike do 5 tattoos and NO ONE will ever tattoo me other than him. Yup, PHXSON is the name, I live in Phoenix, AKA, $400.00 flight to get Atomic Tattoo (including the $15.00 per bag fee) I will gladly fly for a weekend tattoo when Mike is involved. \r
\r
The largest of my tattoos was a full back piece, that I NEVER intended to get. He was brutally honest in telling me I would not like the results of my initial idea, rather let him show me what I really wanted...I was floored, it was more than I had hoped for. He is simply amazing.\r
\r
Take nothing from the rest of the staff, they are all top-notch. Justin has taken great measure in the assembly of this staff... For that matter, they have done the piercing and stretching of my ears (great jewelry selection as well).\r
\r
You will NOT find a better staff than what you will find at Atomic Tattoo, and NEVER have to worry about the piercer seeming a bit too excited about piercing your female friend's nipples ( ahemmmmm, Platinum)\r
\r
Stop thinking about the tattoo you always wanted as a kid, go get it at Atomic Tattoo on Burnet Road... Ask for Mike Pain and tell him PHXSON sent you, he will appreciate it.\r
\r
Enjoy

When I decided I wanted to get a tattoo I wasn't sure exactly where to go. A friend HIGHLY recommended Mike Pain at Atomic Tattoo. Man am I glad he did!!! Mike drew up exactly what I wanted and did a GREAT job. I am so pleased with my tattoo. Mike is a great artist and made the whole experience so fun. Atomic Tattoo is the place to go get a tattoo and Mike Pain is one of the BEST artist out there.

About six weeks ago I got my first tattoo at the ripe old age of 46. Mike Pain did the work for me at Atomic Tattoo on Burnet Road. I had a design I had drawn up and played with for several years. Mike took my so so art work and made a masterpiece. The piece covered most of my upper left arm. I am extremely pleased. I was so pleased I went back for my second tattoo on my right upper arm (another large piece). The work is exquisite and the artist (Mike Pain) is a great guy. Mike is a true artist. I like his professional demeanor and the fact that he is honest with his feedback on what will make a great tattoo and what would not. Maybe that is where some people get pushed out of shape (when someone is honest with professional feedback). I would want to know if the tat was going to look average or bad. I am getting my third tattoo next week of my best friend who died last year (Buddy the bulldog). My background is I am in management for Cisco Systems and as a technology professional I have high standards (somewhat a perfectionist). Atomic Tattoo (Justin) and his staff are very professional, and Mike Pain is just one of the best tattoo artist I have ever seen (on TV or in person). One small negative, watch getting in and out of the parking at the Burnet road site. ;-) Otherwise, I just don't believe you will find a much better Tattoo Shop or Tattoo Artist (Mike Pain) in Austin or Texas, and maybe US. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MIKE PAIN AND ATOMIC TATTOO. You won't regret it! At Atomic Tattoo you are not just treated like a customer, you are treated like family.

I went to the Atomic on Burnet for my first tattoo. I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted and also feeling a bit nervous and squeamish. The atmosphere didn't help. First of all, I don't really look like a girl who would be interested in tattoos. I know that, but when I walked into the shop, I felt that the peoples' attitude towards me was basically, ""What is she doing in here?"" It was very off-putting. I was kept waiting for an hour, even though they weren't particularly busy. When I showed the guy what I wanted (I don't know his name, since he didn't introduce himself.), he took it and made a bunch of other designs that were NOTHING like what I wanted. Fortunately, I stood my ground and he (grudgingly) agreed to do it. The tattoo itself came out fine and only took a few minutes, so I am pleased with it, though I did feel it was over-priced. But he wasn't very nice about it and I did not feel comfortable there at all. I'm going to get another tattoo soon. I will not be going there.

I recently got a new tattoo and chose to go to Atomic on Burnett because I had heard great things about them. Everything I heard was true. Mike Pain who did my tattoo, drew up a design and it was beautiful. The tattoo turned out great and Mike was very nice and friendly. I now have a great tattoo and a new tattoo artist for LIFE! I will be going back.

ok as far as tattoos go i am very picky, i don't want to walk around for the rest of my life stuck with something i didn't really want in the beginning, cause our tattoos are a reflection of who we are,so i will not go to just anyone on 6th street like so many of our partiers do,if i don't know you or your work it will not be done,at least not on me i have been to different tattoo shops looking for the right place to get my work done and have seen what they do as far as not only the work they do or the art they have but from how they run their buisness to how they treat their customers, for myself being a hairstylist people skills are far more important than anything cause without that there is no art to form, and i say that i have never felt more at home than Atomic..it was not my first time visiting Atomic because like i said i am very picky and not very trust worthy of people so yes i visited EVERY shop there is in Austin, including the so called awesome Platinum Ink ,yeah right, there was no greeting at the door,no how was i doing,i have known many people who walked away from that place so disapointed and what else could they do but live with it,Hello, tattoos are permanent, and when i finally found the RIGHT place i called Mike Pain, why because he greeted me when i 1st walked in what i wanted was not just a tattoo but one that has a meaning(isn't that what we all want from a tattoo)i told him in description what i wanted..he asked a few questions and drew a pic...perfect..to what i had told him i wanted...i was a bit nervous being the tattoo was one my upper back and i was unsure of what to expect but he was very reassuring and in no time he was done...as for me it was the best tattoo experiance i have ever had and i will not be afraid to go back to him or the place for that matter, and if you have had a bad experience with Mike Pain then you have never been tattooed by him.....so heres to you Atomic thanks,i love my new tattoo....and so will my friends,mandy-jo

I just got some work done with Scott at the Burnet location! He was really nice and very talented. I went in with a drawing that i wanted, but i wanted it changed a little bit and Scott just went straight to work on it. It came out better than I had expected because of Scott! I will surly go back to him for more work!

I walked into Atomic (on Burnet) and had my design in hand. All the artist had to do was transfer it onto a stencil and put it on me. I had Mike Pain as well and he was extremely rude to me. He made me feel like the tattoo which was a cross on my back was not a good design and that I should get a different one. After trying to talk me out of my tattoo for several minutes I finally said that I wanted the cross, and that I was going to get it. The entire time he was tattooing me he made rude comments and made me feel bad about my choice of tattoo. After being ridiculously overcharged I left and I will NEVER return. I recently went to Platinum Ink and the entire staff was incredible. Atomic Ink needs to work on their customer service skills. Maybe they should take a lesson from Platinum Ink.

I got a pretty simple tattoo: a cat's head, to be done in solid black with another color detail for the eyes. I came in with the design on a paper so that all the artist had to do was transfer it to my foot. The tatooo came out nice and I still enjoy it, which is the important part.\r
\r
However my tattoo artist was Mike Pain (the name on his card), and he made a couple of rude, off color comments to me while tattooing me. I let it go at the time, because hey, I didn't want him to screw up my tattoo and I just wanted it done. If you like your tattoo artist to be a pig to you, then be sure ask for Mike at the drag location. A gal buddy of mine had the exact same experience. This was probably three years ago though, i'm not sure if he's still there.\r
\r
The parlor in general also gave me the impression that they didn't really care about our business either. I'd suggest AMillion, I heard good stuff about them.

Went in on Monday - early afternoon, and I was the only customer there, but the 2 guys working there was more interested in watching DVDs on their computer. I was directed to the racks of drawings without any recommendations or questions as to what I was looking for. When i chose a design I liked, I was taken to a room with the tall guy with the dred-locks, so he could finish the customization of the design. He literally spent more time watching the movie on his PC than working on my drawing. After 5 minutes of being ignored, I walked out.\r
\r
They did NOT seem interested in me as a customer or my business.

I went to Atomic for my first tattoo on the recommendation of a few friends, and thought I had a pretty good first experience. Mikey tattooed me, and she seemed pretty nice, even though she never shook my hand or introduced herself. \r
When I returned a month later to get a second tattoo, Mikey was working again, along with another artist. My boyfriend and I were the only people in the shop, so I figured it would be another short wait. Mikey asked us to wait so she could eat a quick bite, and we obliged, since it looked like they had just gotten Sonic and I would rather have a happy tattoo artist than a hungry, grumpy one. Twenty minutes later, we are still standing around waiting while she is gabbing at the front desk with the other artist, slowly eating her lunch. I understand that people need to eat, but telling someone to wait for a few minutes and then having a drawn-out social lunch is not my idea of customer service. We took off and went to another tattoo shop where we were treated much better. I relayed this story to the artist at Amillion and he told me that people come into their shop 3-4 times a week complaining of poor customer service at Atomic Burnet.

I went to the location on Guadalupe for my first tattoo. Derek did it and I have to say that it was a fun experience. You wouldn't think that getting poked with a very sharp needle could be fun but it was. He is a very talented artist who truly cares about his art and makes you feel very comfortable. The shop is very clean and sanitary and they take the utmost care to keep it that way, so if you're looking for a place where you don't have to worry about it being clean I would definitely recommend them. This was my first tattoo and I absolutely love it. I'll be moving soon but when I decide to get another tattoo you can be sure that I'll be coming back to Derek, I would recommend him to anybody and everybody.

I understand that being a tattoo ""artist"" is a really AWESOME job, but it is still a service. I'll be the first to admit that they can be intimidating for anyone who's not covered in em'. I have never felt more uncomfortable or treated so rudely in my life. When I walked in and up to the counter the woman couldn't have been more annoyed that she had new customers. They were not very busy, nevertheless we waited for over and hour perusing thru unimpressive portfolios. ( I should have left, it only got worse). When the bald guy with the faded spider web skull tat finally came up to see what we needed, I handed him my original, ( an accurate hand drawn rendering of one of the most famous book covers of all time). He took it to the back to work on it, and came back with something that looked like a gangsta angel. I tried to explain what I wanted. Although, it would be my money and my body art for the rest of my life; somehow what I wanted would have insulted his ""artistic integrity"" and he wouldn't do it. eff you dude.

Jason has done my full sleeve on my left arm and we just started on my right arm last night. We did a space scene with f-ing amazing sky-scene on the left. The right is an underwater scene. This dude rocks.\r
Oh- he's the manager of the new shop (where World Famous used to be). After getting tats from Jason, I will never see anyone else.

I went to Atomic to get my nose pierced (very first piercing) about a year or so ago during the presidential debates. The woman who was to do my piercing was really into it and asked us very nicely to wait until the debates were over and she would also give me a reduced price. I was fine with that. I waited. When the time came to get it done she was very nice. She explained how to take care of it, when I can expect to change it out for a smaller stud, and she let me look at the mark she put on my nose before she pierced. The piercing didnt hurt at al - didnt even make my eyes water and it was very very quick. This place is very professional and the individual rooms are very clean and sterile looking. \r
\r
After a while I was cleaning my nose-hole and I lost the stud and the hole closed up before I could get another, so I just recently got it pierced again, but went to Platinum Ink because they have a deal on Sundays. It was awful! They didnt explain anything to me at all. It was very uncomfortable there because of that and the gentleman was rude. It just made me realize what an awesome place Atomic is. From now on I am an Atomic girl!

I have been a die-hard Atomic fan for about 4 years now. After getting several 'scratch' tattoos over the years, I needed a LOT of help with cover ups. Craig is by far the MASTER!! I can now look at my skin and love my beautiful artwork instead of cringing with embarassment! I love the whole staff..they are all very professional and easy to talk to. I've been in many shops where the artists make you feel stupid, but these folks are NOT like that at all. If you're into piercings, you'll love Justin too. He'll walk you through every step he takes to make you comfortable. I have happy ears because of him :) He's awsome. Even if you are not as knowledgable about the whole 'tattoo or piercing' world...you will definitely feel at ease with these cats! As a matter of fact, my tattoos and piercings are so awsome, HALF of my coworkers have been in ,and have all been MORE than satisfied with their new body art!!!!

Oh, Jason M. is so good. I just got my first tattoo from him and he is so talented. I told him what I was thinking about and he drew it for me right there. I'm hooked now. I want more and I will definatly be going back to Jason.

Pros: Jason Masarik- highly talented artist, very clean

I can't believe anyone would have a bad experience in this place. They have so many artists that work out of there surely you could find someone to mesh with your personality and get you the design you wanted. For the person with the ""bad experience"" and the tattoo they don't like ... did you approve the design before they put it on you? If you didn't that was your mistake. If you did and there was another problem, did you let Larry or Justin know so one of them could improve it to your satisfaction? These people are easy to work with at Atomic. I have 3 large pieces from here that Larry did a few years ago. I'm in the sun alot and the colors are still very bright even after 10 years on one of them. I wouldn't trust my skin to any other shop in town.

Cons: none to speak of

I have been to many tattoo shops in Austin and it is scary. I would not go to a place where they discount tattoos and piercings. Think about what you really want, research, and invest! If I wanted cheap tattoos with disregard for sanitation, I would have gotten tattooed in Cancun at a shady little quickie shop. Think about it, ""nice tattoo""....""thanks, i got it on sale.""

I've been tattooed by Jason and Evan at the Burnet shop, and Paco at the Guadalupe shop. I've seen the work of the other artists and would not hesitate for a second to use their skill. I've also been pierced by Justin. This place is a value. What is value...it is what you get for the money. All I have to say about this shop is...CLEAN, skillful, and true to the art! Keep it real Atomic.

The talent and skill of the tattoo and piercing artists is absolutely incredible! If it's your first time getting a tat or piercing, they take the time to show you the tools they will use and explain how they are sterilized. You could probably find cheaper prices elsewhere, but I wouldn't recommend going elsewhere. I will pay whatever price they charge at Atomic, because I know the quality of their work and I trust the safety measures that they take. I've gotten 3 tats and a naval piercing at Atomic and have never had a single problem!

I have a full sleeve by Craig Sheets at Atomic. My Wife has a chest piece by him also. We absolutely love our tattoos. Almost all of friends go there, thats how I heard of it. Craig was courteous, He drew my entire sleeve in about 2 hours! Every tattoo i have seen from there looks great. I think the only 2 people to post bad comments probably work for the competition, because there is no way they could say what they did otherwise. In Fact I just clicked on one of the names and low and behold they wrote a good review for a place down the street. Hmmmm? Highly recommend them. LOL

After writing a not so good review for another Austin area shop shop i felt the need to write this review. All I can say is I could not be happier. My expierence was just top of the line. I will NEVER go anywhere else. I plan on getting a tattoo soon and after seeing the pics of the work that comes from there i don't know why anyone would ever go any place else.
