I love vintage stores. I've been shopping in them for years. You can almost always find an original unique dress, top or shoes. I found a dress I liked at Cream but it had a hole in the material at the bottom and I wanted it hemmed to my knees any way. So I purchased the dress, had the new hem line measured and went on my merry way very excited about my purchase. When I picked up the dress I was horrified. The material is a very light fabric and the original hem was probably an inch maybe an inch and a half. The new hem was tiny and when I tried the dress on it fold over from the inside and had a pucker-wavy certainly not the way it was or should look. Beside that the stitching was uneven all the way around. It sucked. I point it out to the alterer and she said it just needed to be pressed. I pressed it when I got home and that definitely is not the problem. The problem is the fabric is too light for such a tiny hem. Now I can either adjust the hem and the dress will be shorter than I want it or I can leave it as it is and have the hem showing. Likely I'll never even wear the dress and in six months it'll go to Good Will. My advise, if you shop at this store definitely don't have them alter your garment. Or don't pay before you see the altered garment, the shop has No Refunds and No Exchanges. Go figure. This was my first and last time at that store.

I think Cream Vintage is one of the best vintage clothing stores in town. Every week i go in a find something new, you just have to ask what they got that week. The prices are great and everyone working there is super cool. Ive seen some of the coolest shows there and they are always fun and under the radar. The south 1st location is really cool also.

cream vintage has the opportunity to be a good vintage store in austin, but i have a few complaints about where they are now. it seems there is never any attention payed to the appearance of the store. i know it's on the drag, and it's supposed to be "funky", but it just looks rather trashy. the inside of the store is jam packed with an array of over priced lame vintage finds. i would rather go to feathers and pay more for a gorgeous real vintage piece that seems special in a store that excludes bad clothing than dig around at cream for that one good piece at the same price. if i wanted to do that, dig, i would go to saver's. also, it seems like they have new items once a month rather than once a week... this is very sad. vintage shoppers expect new and exciting things often at a vintage store.
i wonder about their claims of music events... it seems that only happens during SXSW, and everyone in austin has a band at their store during that.
the one good thing, the alterations. the seamstresses are sweet and detail oriented.
overall i suggest not wasting your time at cream, there is better, and classier vintage to be had in austin.

My husband and I love this store. He goes there to find vintage pearl snap shirts and well worn wide leg jeans. They have mens and womens fashions. Besides carrying vintage wear, they remake and customize vintage clothing into more updated styles. Very Hip!

This store had lots of 'vintage' clothing. But here 'vintage' seems to mean 'used.' It had some cool stuff, but seems like they charged a little too much for me to buy someone else's 'hand me downs.'

Cream Vintage clothes are something you cant find anywhere else! Although their inventory is constantly changing, this is the place to go for vintage clothing. There is a pretty good selection of 50's-80's clothing. Great place to shop if you want to be different, with a style all your own!

PROS: Something for everyone!

If you love vintage you will love this store. Lots of good clothing at decent prices. I usually don't wear vintage, but I even found a piece or two for myself.

I love this store. Everytime I walk in I find something that I ended up wearing until it basically falls off my body. The owner of the store is a really cool guy, and all the employees are always extremely friendly. Definitely check it out.

PROS: Good Selection, Fun Environment
