This restaurant is the perfect combination of casual atmosphere and amazing food. I came here for lunch several times when interning in Houston, and even brought my sister here when she came to visit. The little things like fried plantain chips, and specialty salad dressings were really nice touches.

I love having a place where I can get great food and my kids can have popcorn chicken or pizza, or the greatest dessert of all time-tabletop s'mores! (and mom can get her pastel de tres leches with its incredible topping!) Might be a bit pricey, but I am willing to do so for the opportunity to make everyone in my family happy in one restaurant.

You need to go and check out the Amazon Grill in Houston Texas on Kirby Dr.

Robert the Manager and his Team is outstanding!!

If you haven't experienced the Amazon Grill then you need to stop what you're doing and head on over. The food is out of this world, and you'll love the prices!! You must try for desert the tres leches, or the smores. The service is first-rate, and fast.

We dined here after receiving a $25 gift card from their sister restaurant, Americas, after dining there on Valentine's. This appeared to be essentially the same menu, except without the elaborate decor of Americas, and obviously you order at the counter instead of a server coming to your table. Hence the prices are quite a bit lower in comparison too. And self-serve plantain chips. Those things cannot be good for you, but I can't stop eating them, and I love the pesto sauce. Mojitos are good, atmosphere is as expected. Appeared to be a great place for club meetings - we noticed several separate larger groups with nametags and such. Will definitely go back soon.

I called the restaurant asking if they still have the happy hour and what the specials were (I have been many times before, but not for approximately a month). The person related they did and had peppers, pitas and chips. We arrived and all they had were the plaintain chips. I asked the manager, Anna, and she said the happy hour was Mon-Fri. I told her it was Monday and she said Uh-Oh. It was 6pm. Good thing we hadn't ordered entrees yet. We all left. And we were very disappointed - see below!

I am extremely disappointed that the salad bar is gone. We would have preferred a cost increase and kept the salad bar. This was a very POOR business decision and the four of us will not return. It is akin to a Mexican restaurant deciding to no longer offer chips. They will lose business and so will your establishment. This decision should be rescinded and you should revert to the salad bar. PLUS: I filed a comment and the customer rep related that management would be contacting me...not a word yet!!! I returned once to see if things changed and found the food to be of a poor quality. I will NOT return.

This place has good Brazilian style food. The prices are good for this type of food. Not on the same level as fogo but, good. The only thing is the adult drinks are undrinkable, they put too much lime juice in all the drinks. If you like cold lime juice for $4 buck, SOLD! Good food, bad adult drinks!

This place is terrible. The day I went I ordered beef fajitas, and they said they were out of beef. I couldn't believe my ears. Out of beef? In general, no beef at all? What kind of mismanaged restaurant oversells beef? Maybe out of some weird type of sauce, but to run out of a staple in half your foods in unacceptable. If you want good tex-mex, go to armando's instead. It's pricier, but worth it.

Amazon Grill? This restaurant is truly what I call a Houston typical restaurant. Build it and they will come. Exactly just build a restaurant that looks great from the outside and people think that the food and service is as good as the cover. Well you are wrong! This restaurant aka Cafeteria, is a joke amongst food conneiseurs. Bad food, freshness is questionable, ambience is terrible sounds like a theme park with all the people screaming talking, and kids running around. The restrooms are dirty, the service is run like a Burger King joint, and the meat served is nothing but low grade meat. This is a joke and I believe the people dining here are too. Tank Top wearing, Armpit showing, shorts wearing, beer bellied clientelle. Just by looking at the clientelle did I lose my appetitie. The food is overcooked especially the bean soup, the salad bar is disgusting, as well as the area where to fetch the plantain chips. Kids grabbing chips with their hands, eating straight from trays. Parking is terrible. cleanliness is extremely questionable. Just another Marketing Scam. If you have no taste and no class, this is the place. If you want ambience, a true enjoyment of food this is not the place.

Pros: location

Cons: Quality of Food, Freshness, Cleanliness of restrooms, Quality of Clients (trashy trying to fit in), Terrible service, Salad bar and chips bar absolutely filthy

The Amazon Burger is great as well as the Latino and lets not forget about the Margaritas which are $3.00 during happy hour =)

When Amazon first opened, we loved it and thought it was the best place for our "family date night". The steak was like America's for a fraction of the price and the kids loved the elegant popcorn shrimp served in a tall martini-style glass on top of popcorn. So after going about dozen times, we have seen the price edge up and the quality decrease tremendously. The last time we went will be the last time we ever go there. My parents were in town and love Churrasco's, so we told them that this was a convenient, inexpensive, mini-Churrasco's. Well, the food was terrible and the service was worse. After getting the wrong food, my father didnt get his order until we were all finished eating. Also, the food seemed especially oil-ladened and the salad bar was unkempt. We thought about returning but my brother had a similarly bad dinner there said he never plans to return. It is a shame, because it started out so great.

personally, i see nothing special about this place - yes, the food was good (it will satisfy your palette), but not spectacular (it didn't seperate itself from all the other restaurants similar in theme), and the ambience was not quite the south american treat as i thought it would be. if any, it felt a bit on the commercial side - no personalized touches to a dining experience. not a great place to bring a date, more of a family type atmosphere or a big group of friends to celebrate a birthday.*

I remember when Amazon first came out and the place had great quality at an affordable price. Now the price has remained the same but the popularity has gone to the heads of the owners, as the quality is almost gone. Some of the dishes can be very very good, yet most either leave you wanting more or as my friends after the last visit, in bed with a stomach virus. Not worth it anymore.

Where else do you have the opportunity to have cafeteria style, relatively cheap brazilian food? Actually, while their entrees are great, I recommend just getting the all you can eat plantain and salad bar (and all the churrasco sauce you want) and then getting Tres Leches for desert - yum!

PROS: cheap, fast, casual good menu
CONS: entrees can be hit or miss

I love this place!!! All you can eat salad, wonderful plantain chips, and tasty main courses. I highly recommend the tilapia or the salmon. I love taking all of my out of town guests here. They have a great out door patio if you can handle the Kirby traffic.

I went into Amazon expecting good value based on all the reviews and that was a mistake. Yes, we did enjoy the complimentary plaintain chips, etc, but that didn't make up for the fact that we paid ~$10 for the Latino which was basically fried chicken breast that had no flavor. By fiancee got the shrimp, fish and chips (~$11) and that was pretty flavorless also. The best part of the meal was the plaintain chips, unfortunately. Also, we expected a full-service restaurant and were sad to realize that you had to order your food deli-style and have them bring it to your table. Wouldn't go back unless we were pretty desperate.

This place is a bargain for the QUALITY and quantity of food you get. They had all the special sauces from Churrascos to go with the (unlimited) salad and plantain chip bar. We didn't have a go at the desserts, but the Tres Leches for $4, funnel cakes and S'mores (flame included) looked fantastic.

The atmosphere here was perfect. It has upscale decor, but you could go dressed down or dressed up and not feel out of place. Plus it has 3 different areas to eat: inside, out on the patio, or in the sun room. It's nice enough for a date, but best for a group of friends or families with children.

So to anyone who likes Chili's and Bennigan's type places, but want to try something different, I HIGHLY recommend this place. For the quality and quantity, Amazon Grill is VERY well worth your money.

The cairpirinha could have been better but the bartender was not hesistant to fix it to my liking. The Peru dish was heaven-sent. All in all the patio dining was great and the noise level was decent. The crowd varied from young trendy scene to a relatively old crowd. The tres leches was great too. Great food for a cheap price. The variety of South American salsa at the salad bar was enticing as well. Nice decor too

Great food, good value, fun atmosphere. The meals come with all you can eat plantain chips (which my child loved) and salad with AWESOME unique salad dressings. The cost of the meal includes tax and tip, so it's not as pricey as may initialy appear. The salmon was some of the best I've had here. The side dishes are also scrumptious.

Even better in their new Kirby location than they were on South Post Oak, though parking can now be a bit of a challenge. Consistenty great food, beautifully presented, and in a great "quick food" format. A good compromise for those dining with kids who prefer a nice decor and a cool adult beverage to fiberglass clowns and watery soft drinks! The tabletop Smores are a novelty and fun, but don't judge the value of Amazon by them. The serious dishes are worth repeating time and time again.

as soon as you walk in the front door, you know there is something quite interesting about the amazon grill. the menu has variety of dishes...and all of them have a "flare". almost everything is low-fat and full of flavor. the salad with the mango, yogurt and cilantro, and garlic dressings are to die for! the sweet, fried banana chips compliments well with the spicy salsa. the atomsphere is great for casual dates or going out with your friends. :)

Stopped here Sat night for dinner and was really pleased with everything. This place is from the owners of Churrascos, and the food was great. It is a limited menu of interesting dishes in a self serve type atmosphere. Best thing about it was it was very affordable. All the main dishes cost $10, and that includes salad. They even had a decent wine list to go with the great food. Saw some people eating "Table Top Smores" and it looked great. I will have to venture back for dessert another time. This place is very casual (and loud).

I had heard that this is THE place for West U families, so we tried it. What a great find! Our kids loved it - who would blame them? There are two items, each $5, for kids: popcorn chicken and pizza. Kids also get cotton candy. A great dessert for the whole family (only $6) is the D-I-Y S'mores (roast those marshmallows at the table).

The entrees for the adults are just $8-10, and what we tried was very good. They include soup, salad and fried plantain chips. Both the soups last night were delicious - a spicy chicken soup and a tomato cream.

A family of four can have a fantastic meal for under $40 (before alcohol and tip)

Kirby is such an overcrowded street that it's easy to drive right past this place - across from River Oaks Chrysler, and next to Tortuga. Amazon Grill features an attractive industrial stlye dining area, and it's bright and casual. Walk in and order from the front counter, then food is supposed to be brought to you - but you must watch the service counter to make sure you get your order in a timely manner! Crispy fried plantain chips and various dipping sauces serve as an appetizer. Menu items include unusual but delicious corn-crusted or potato-crusted chicked breasts. The tres-leches dessert cake is so rich and moist I was almost tearful with pleasure! I highly reccommend this place! NOTE: Closed Sundays.

We've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and we are glad we did. The food is exotic & fantastic. The chicken dishes are wonderful. We totally recommend the Apoyo and Latino chicken dishes. Free fried plantains & salads as appetizers while you wait for your meal. We went on a Friday and it was really busy. You have to seat yourself- it's first come, first serve. That got to be bad because you basically had to vulture around the tables waiting for someone to leave so you could beat the other 10 people already vulturing around the tables. Once we sat down and got our food, we enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere is nice and the food is fantastic. A definite place to try out. We recommend going, just be prepared to wait for a table if you go on a Friday or Saturday night.

Four words...Try the S'mores Tabletop! My boyfriend took me to this restaurant a couple weeks ago. The atmosphere is very nice. This place looks like it's always busy, so it was a bit crowded. The food was really good, and for the price I paid I didn't expect so much. What I really loved though was the dessert S'mores Tabletop. It's so unique and it brings back memories of campfires and marshmellows. Overall, wonderful restaurant for a nice get together with a friend or a nice date.
