They have a great happy hour and the drinks are strong. Eat the mac and cheese, it's excellent. When it's busy it gets a little cramped, but who cares?

Horrible service!!!
It was supposed to be a happy dinner with my friends on Thursday night, unfortnately, we had a waiter, ruined our evening.
First of all, since that was our first time to try that restaurant, my friends and I had some questions about the menu and the restaurant, he gave us the look and answered only 'Yes' or 'No'. During the dinner,my friend was talking to us while eating, the waiter, came to our table and took my friend's plate away because he thought my friend was done. Even he apologized immidiately, my friend was pissed off. After dinner, I used my credit card to pay, and I only tip him 10% coz the service was terrible. Two days later, I found my credit card bill that the restaurant charged me 27% more than I agreed to pay on that receipt. So I called my bank immediately to dispute that transaction. (I am not sure if the waiter added the tips amount on the receipt after I signed??)

The food is average, so I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I won't go back to that place ever again.

I'm a big fan! I went here for the first time last Tuesday eve for a friend's b-day. I didn't get any food so I can't comment there but the atmosphere was good, music was super swank, and the beverages were tasty. Drink prices were totally average and great for doubles. I'm a Makers fan. The bartender, Will was a rockstar--there were so many of us that it seemed pretty chaotic but even when I wasn't first up at the bar, he made eye contact and let me know my turn was coming. I've been in the service industry for years and was pretty impressed how unflappable he was. I will definitely be back for some more tasty beverages. Glad I discovered this place.

Rosebud Restaurant & Bar has been a favorite of mine for a number of years. I "discovered" it in 2002 when on a hunt for a good, value-oriented weekend brunch spot. Well, the French Toast at brunch captivated me and soon I was inviting friends and clients to join me for dinner. The portions are just right--Euro-styled. The menu fare, creative and tasty. And the wine selections are far ranging. If you haven't tried this little jewel -- do so. Because of the economy, Rosebud is posting some incredible specials during the week.

I have been coming to Rosebud for years mostly for drinks in the bar. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I've eaten their a couple of times and the brunch is always wonderful but the dinner menu has been a miss for awhile. I heard about the new kitchen staff and menu and decided to give it another try. It has taken a huge turn for the better!!!! They have really stepped it up with the new menu and with more vegetarian options! My only complaint is with the crappy glassware. I dine out alot and I dont understand why a nice restaurant with a menu of this level would serve wine out of diner libby glassware. bleh! Any respectable seattle restaurant serves out of riedel or spiegelau or anything but libby. Please consider stepping it up to meet with the great new menu!

The Rosebud Restaurant is a nice stop for drinks, happy hour or dinner. It's nestled in and feels like a little New York restaurant, with style and ambience. The food is classic, with interesting, beautiful preparation, sauces and flavors. Very romantic on a date, or good to socialize with others.

Food was disgusting, waiter was totally rude. It was a complete waste of money and I would NEVER go back. This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in Seattle.

I eat at Rosebud all the time, the last time I was there I was suprised that the food was not as good as it had been. So I thought I would go back and try it again, last night. Tehy have anew mwnu and a change in the kitchen staff. Well the difference was amaizing, the new menu was so different and so many good things to choose from, and the flavors incredible. If you tried Rosebud in the past, try it again the food is great. Of course the service cannot better.

I?ve been a big fan of Rosebud for almost as long as it?s been in existence because of the service and the great food. Plus, you can?t beat the generous happy hour. The ambiance is sublime and romantic with the music and decor. If you?ve never been, try not to be put off by the rabid negative remarks found below. No restaurant is perfect, but Rosebud would not have been around for as long as it has if it was really all that bad.

I went to Rosebud expecting a lovely meal. Instead I received polenta that ran across my plate in a river of muck. Chicken that was so dry and tasteless and bread that felt leftover from the previous day. This was quite literally the worst meal I had in 2006. I filled out a comment card, including my email. never heard a word. The service was great in the restaurant, but don't expect your voice to be heard when you are dished up the meal from hell.

I adore this restaurant. It's charming ambience entices me from the moment I enter the pretty little place. And the cuisine never disappoints. I especially appreciate the modest portions and do not at all mind paying whatever for well prepared, beautifully presented, unique dishes. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly, making me feel like I am being entertained in a private home. The Rose Bud is a never fail dining room and I am always proud to take my friends there for any meal, day or night. Try it -- you'll love it as I do.

A couple of friends of mine introduced me to Rosebud Restaurant & Bar several months ago. From my first visit, I was so impressed with the quiet, cozy, unpretensous atmosphere that I knew I'd be back! Not only do I return on a regular basis, but I've introduced scores of others to this "little jewel" and I have always received a gracious "thanks for the introduction" from my "Rosebud Virgins." The dining room is perfect for chatting with friends...lovers...or business associates. The food is stellar. I understand that Rosebud has a new chef whose last gig was with Wolfgang Puck. I loved the food before the new chef arrived; I love it even more now. It's a combo of art and gastronomical delight. Servings are "Euro size." The service is friendly, professional and unhurried. The chicken breast is amazing; and the chocolate brioche is magic. If you haven't tried this remarkable establishment, do so. I can see why it was voted "Most Romantic Restaurant in Seattle."

Be sure to ask your server about getting on Rosebud's newsletter list for complimenatary recipes, special events and wonderful offers. I was hesitant to sign up at first, but I'm glad I did. Rosebud doesn't share its e-mail list with others.

Pros: Excellent dining experience and friendly, professional service; check out Roman, the Fri/Sat night bartender!

Cons: Can't think of any

This is my new favorite restaurant in Seattle! Very stylish and romantic interior, with an informative and friendly staff. The menu had many tempting offerings; but I went with a mixed green salad with yummy yummy walnuts, and stuffed chicken breast for my entree. Both were well prepared and absolutely delicious! I plan to return soon to try out a few more things. . .
And save room for dessert- the flourless chocolate cake is the best I've ever had.

This was the worst dining experience that I have had recently in Seattle. Please think twice before spending any money on the poorly prepared menu items at Rosebud.

The beet in my "Roasted Beet Salad" was so salty I had to drink an entire glass of water after the first bite. The "salad" was HALf a very salty beet decoratively placed among 3 canoe shaped goat cheese parcels. This was no salad- but rather goat cheese with unedible beet and an artful, but burnt artichoke leaf garnish.

Being an optimistic person, I was hopeful that my "salad" was just an annomily- alas, the entrees were just as disappointing- if not more. "Wild mushroom and Squash Risotto cakes" had no discernable mushroom or squash and were so mushy, bland and textureless that I gave up even before I attempted the tomato and cannolini bean concoction that as far as I could tell was the result of the kitchen opening a can of tomato chunks and heating them up with uncooked cannolini beans and dumping them over the mushy rice patties. The chard that was hidden between the two mushy rice patties was overly peppered and again had me reaching for the water.

It is so utterly frustrating to have a menu with such potential, be such an unforgiving dissappointment (Roasted beet salad and mushroom squash risotto cakes in any semi-professional kitchen- or even at home with a novice cook-could/should be very flavorful dishes without much diffculty).

My word of advie to Rosebud- START PAYING ATTENTION TO THE FOOD COMING OUT OF YOUR KITCHEN- from the looks of the reviews you are getting here- the message is clear- Your food is far below the standard your menu and prices indicate it should be. Pity the fool that spends hard-earned money on such slop.

I dont mind paying a lot for a good meal, but when I go to a restaurant and see an ambitious, though slightly schizophrenic, menu and then get served something I cannot even eat after waiting forty minutes between salad and main course it leaves me wishing I had stayed home. In particular, I ordered the gnocchi and asparagus. The asparagus was o-kay, but at the price to value ratio was way off. There was nothing particularly special about it (unless you could being served with a runny egg..); it did not warrant the price. Then, the gnocchi was so poorly prepared I wondered if the chef even knew how to cook. Pan fried, it showed up at my table hidden under a pile of greens burnt on one side, and tough on the other. As someone who has always said I have never met a potato dish I didnt like; I cannot say that anymore. When the server asked me how everything was all I could muster is I am sorry but this is gross. The scallop my friend ordered was fine, but also ridiculously priced for what she received. The booze was good.

Overall I still think the Rosebud is a good place for a stiff drink, however, that the waiting staff could really use a wake up call in what is service and what is just attitude. The atmosphere needs deep cleaning (especially the fabric on the booths steam clean them!). I would suggest spending your food dollar elsewhere and stopping in the Rosebud at the end of your evening for a nightcap. Just keep it at that.

I loved the intimate, romantic atmosphere and the wonderful service, but the food was just ok and the prices too high. We went there twice. The first time I was more impressed but the second time was very disappointing. The problem was that we went there for Valentines Day, thinking it would be the ideal place because it is so romantic. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, there was a "Valentine's Day Special", where you only had one price and just a few choices for your appetizer, entree and dessert. Basically we were forced to pay over $100 for two people for a 3 course meal, with few choices, and frankly just average food. I felt we were robbed and suckered into it simply because of the holiday. And at that point, I didn't feel we had much choice but to stay and let them rob us, because where else would we even get a chance to eat anywhere on Valentine's Day at that point? We have never gone back since. It is a terrible, greedy, underhanded way of doing business and I have lost all respect for them.

The Rosebud has a great happy hour with very cheap drinks from 5 until 8 (or 9?). It's one of the rare spots on Capitol Hill where you can acutally hear the person next to you when they talk to you! The place is very comfy and inviting. . .if you're looking for cheap food to go along with your drinks, don't look here, the food is very very expensive.

PROS: Cheap drinks, nice atmosphere

Im conflicted about Rosebud. The space is darling and the food beautiful and generally delicious. My beef? The service! Met there last week post-work with girlfriends...ours was one of the only occupied tables. Despite the slow evening, our server seemed reluctant to deal with us. I waited 20 minutes to place an initial drink order, and when we ordered food, the server rushed away after two of three people at our table had ordered! We actually had to call him back. Nevertheless, I was impressed with the wine selection and word is the mac & cheese and scallops are both great. My cheese plate was finethe cheeses were delish and the spicy nut brittle unique. Skip the accompanying fig concoction. Of note was the gorgeous presentation of the food...elegantly dressed scallops and a precarious macaroni tower were impressive. Ill go back, but I wont rush...the service wont, either.

I like Rosebud for the drinks. They have food, but i have never eaten here. I'm sure it is good, though, because the place has quality drinks and a nice atmosphere. The bar is the place to be here - a great place to meet friends or begin or end a date. In the world of bars that is capitol hill, this one stands out above the crowd for its beauty and glamour in an intimate setting.

this bar serves the best cosmopolitan that i have ever tasted in seattle. i have been to every bar and nightclub imaginable in seattle, and the cosmopolitan that i remember the most is at the rosebud. i have to say that the bar itself is quite a cosy, artsy atmosphere. i mean, there are couches inside, as well as barstools and chairs with tables, while outside there is a patio. unfortunately, for the smokers, this is one of the rare places in seattle by which you must smoke outside. but still, the drinks are the absolute greatest made.

A friend and I went in for Saturday brunch before Stitches opened next door. I had huevos rancheros and my friend had the eggs florentine. The presentation was beautiful for both, I found the serving size to be just right for the price. I did not find the prices to be any higher than I would pay for breakfast at a chain restaurant. We were seated by the windows which gave us the always unique view of Capitol Hill residence going about their Saturday morning.

My boyfriend and I loved this restaurant. Frank Sinatra was playing the entire time we dined and since I'm a fan of Ol' Blue Eyes it added to the experience. The lighting was low and mystic and every part of the decor cooperated to create a perfectly romantic interior. Service was impeccable and the waitress was very helpful with suggestions, all of which were delicious. The best thing about this place is that it offers the same dining package (food, ambience, service, etc.) as high end pricier restaurants, at a much lower price, and honestly the experience was better than some other places that were higher. Go to Rosebud!

This Capitol Hill restaurant is always a favorite of mine whether I'm entertaining friends or dining on my own. The atmosphere is great and the service is impeccable. The food is wonderful! They always have creative and delicious specials for brunch and dinner. There is no comparison for any brunch around on the hill. They offer the best prices and they never seem to settle for anything less than the best where quality is concerned. I also love the intimate service. I never felt intruded upon by the wait staff in any of my dining experiences. Hospitality is the key for restaurants in my opinion and this restaurant continues to exceed all of my expectations.

I recently went here for brunch. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The huevos rancheros was small and tasteless although very pretty in presentation. The atmosphere was cute and quaint but didn't warrent the price tag.

I've been to the Rosebud a few times and I know what makes me keep coming back (besides the $2 well drinks)-it's the atmosphere. You don't feel like you're on Capitol Hill, but instead in some cafe in Nice or Avignon, dining on international cuisine and abosrbing the fine ambience the restaurant has to offer. Plus, the male bartender is extremely hot to boot. :)

Pros: non-smoking, reasonably priced, cheap drinks

.

I must admit that I will probably go back when I save up enough money. The food is awesome. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was charming.

Cons: price, PRICE, price

For the longest time, I went to the Rosebud to have a good time over some drinks with friends. But, everytime I stepped foot into your restaurant, my mouth would start to water from the aromas of the food drifting about the entire place, both restaurant and bar. So, I finally made it there for dinner and it was fabulous!!! The Rosebud is so quaint and cozy, with the plush couches, the friendliest staff, and the best outdoor (LITTLE!) patio in Seattle. This is a great place, and I hope it stays for a long time!!!!!

Along with Chez Shea and Lush Life, this is my favorite of Seattle's restaurants. Knowledgeable and professional service, well-prepared dishes and excellent value take place in a room that is comforting and -- if you are lucky enough to be in one of the window-side two-tops -- a constant source of interesting people watching.

Recent hits include a roasted beet in horseradish appetizer and a special pan-seared (I asked for light oil and got it...) Petrale sole with pea vines. I have not had one of their desserts yet. Wine list is not deep but has good range from fruity to oaky whites and some bigger reds, which I prefer.

A great place for friends, romance or a book and your own bad self... :-)

Very impressed with this neighborhood American Bistro, The food and drinks were excellant, I was happy to find out that they did not allow smoking in the bar, just outside on the back southern insprired brick patio with lots of tables under a beautiful tree. They have a $2.00 well happy hour from 4pm-12am which my friends loved. It seems to attract a diverse and cute group of people. check it out !
