I recently decided to learn knitting and this is where I chose to do it. I signed up for a class which was taught by a very patient instructor. The store has everything you need to learn to knit and you can even sign up for a newbie knit

Pros: everything you need to knit, great teachers and classes
Every knitter has a favorite LYS and mine just happens to be Hilltop Yarn on the top of Queen Anne! Their old location (across the street from their current location) was just amazing. It was an old house converted into the perfect little

Pros: location, customer service
Cons: the old place was so CUTE!
I love the staff and selection at Hilltop. The teachers are excellent and prices are fair. If you are a student in their classes, you can get discounts on store merchandise.

Pros: Parking, cozy atmosphere
Located in an older home on Queen Anne and renovated adorably into a yarn store. Inventory veers toward high end yarns, and did not offer as large a selection as many other yarn stores. Did not feel staff was as helpful as they might be, but all in all a good experience.

If you're looking for some unique yarn then this is the place to go. Keep in mind though, that sometime unique yarn means more expensive. The prices here are definitely higher than a lot of places. And in some cases I found the same quality and selection at Michaels for a lot cheaper price.
PROS: Unique Choices
CONS: Only for Expensive Taste

I took a beginning knitting class here and had a great instructor. The yarns here are beautiful and even more beautifully displayed on the main floor on an old house. They have samples on display and the staff is helpful. The location is not terribly convenient unless you are living on Queen Anne. It is worth going just for the experience.

Hilltop has a good selection of both yarn and classes. The store has a homey ambience and the staff is helpful. They have a good selection of books and a good community connection.
