.

My oil light came on at 100800 miles. After quickly checking the levels to make sure they were good, I took it to the dealership to be diagnosed. They told me it would be take 5 days before they could look at it.

I called another local shop and was told they could see it the same day.

After taking it over to them, I left and waited for the Call. When their service advisor called, he told me I had sludge in the engine and that I would need to buy a new ENGINE! When I ask how he determined that, he said they looked in the Oil filler cap and down the tiny lube stick and saw encrusted sludge all over. They did not suggest any ways to clean the engine or any alternative other then replacing the whole engine.

I immediately turned to the internet to read how others dealt with Sludge in their engine. the First thing I looked at is that you can't look under the oil filler cap for conclusive proof of a sludged engine because theirs always sludge build up there, even on a great engine

I also learned that while sludge is bad, there are some thing that can be done to alleviate it before spending $6700 on a new engine. At no point did the other shop Suggest any of that. When I suggested Pulling the Oil pan and Cleaning it out, they quoted me around $700 do do that.

After talking about it with my Coworker, she recommended I call Steve at NW Import. He quoted me $274 to pull the oil pan and clean it out.

I immediately picked up my car took it to Steve at NW Imports. He pulled the pan, called me to confirm that the screen was completely clogged with crud, and let me know that they had cleaned it out and the car was ready to go. He also suggested I use the Auto-RX product I read about online, to clean the rest of the sludge around the engine.

So 5 days with out a car, Dealer wanted to Sell me a new one, Big Name Local Mechanic wanted 7 grand for a New Engine, and I ended spending 334 out the door at NW Imports.

When I bring my car to a mechanic, I expect them to fix things, not act like sales people and see how much they can sell to me. NW Import was the most honest shop I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with and have turned me into a Raving fan!
