After so many years, Wild Ginger is still one the best places to dine in Seattle.

Fragrant Satay's and expertly prepared vegatables along with a very thorogh wine list guarantee a great meal. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

This place is always one of my first stops when I'm in town.

Pros: Satay, Vegetable dishes, wine list

Cons: 90's Interior

.

This is one to try! The menu has a huge selection- mostly known for their satay- that could satisfy most people. We started with the scallops and ground lamb satays and then seabass lettuce cups...each unique from the other and delicious. We also ordered some noodles and seven flovor beef as entrees- Yum! The flavors are wonderful, presentation was pleasing and the service was very good. I'd like to go again next time I'm in Seattle.

Pros: Selection, Flavors, Atmosphere

Cons: Loud

I've been going to Wild Ginger for a few years now and without a doubt, know they serve the best black pepper scallops in town. The service is excellent and highly recommend sitting in the bar taking recommendations of the bartenders and servers. If you ever have the chance to sit in Elena's section, consider yourself lucky! She is the best server in Seattle.

Just celebrated a friend's birthday there and had a great time. As usual the floorstaff was accomodating and unobtrusive and very well versed on the menu. We had a couple of picky eaters and our service person was attentive & made helpful comments!
The prixe fix menu, especially the Dragon is the best deal in town costwise and flavorwise as well. There is a great variety of wll prepared and presented food. Definitely a place not to miss.

Pros: Great food, Excellent serive

.

This used to be a fun place to go so I decided to throw a small party here recently. The food was horrible, scarce and cold. The service was even worse. They overcharged for what they did serve and all of us left hungry. I will never spend another dime at this restaurant again.

Pros: Location

Cons: Overrated food, Horrible service, Over priced

The food has nothing special: no taste, too cooked.
The atmosphere is noisy and fake yuppie.
The waiters are pretentious.
The check is the cherry!

In other words, if you want to be ripped-off, Wild Ginger is the place!

I went to Wild Ginger for lunch and had a pretty good time. Not great, but nice. I most likely will not go there again unless someone else is paying as I thought the food was very over priced. Everything that I ate I had ordered for more than half the price from take-out restaurants. The service was average. The drinks were very good. I recommand going there for drinks and going somewhere cheaper or more exotic for food.

This is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Seattle. I haven't had a dish I haven't liked - and my boyfriend and I have been there several times, and go with the recommended tactic of ordering a few appetizers to share and then one entree (portions are of regular size, not the super-American-huge size so many diners are accustomed to). The service is great - attentive, friendly and accomodating - and the wine recommendations always complement the food perfectly! Seattle has a lot of restaurants with great Asian cuisine, but Wild Ginger is the best of the best! If you're looking for a romantic evening, try a two-top upstairs!

I moved here from Denver 3 years ago and can not believe how bad the asian food here is in general. I would not recommend this place, unless you like spending to much money on below fair/average asian food.

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Wild Gingers. Our waitor was very friendly and recommended delicious items. We had a varitety of complimentary flavors. Their mango mojitos were delicious! My favorite item was the Salt and Pepper Calamari which is not featured/listed on their menu. The dipping sauce was outstanding!

My wife and I recently came to Seattle to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. On the recommendation of our hotel concierge and several friends at home in NYC, we elected to dine at Wild Ginger on our last night in town. Upon our arrival, the charming and gorgeous hostess, Alyssa, graciously offered us an intimate booth. This came as much of a shock, as we had heard it is near impossible to get in without a reservation. Our service was superlative--both Eric, our server, and Chris, the sommelier, were equally charming and knowledgeable. Our food (lamb chops marinated in cognac, seared ahi) was nothing short of spectacular. My wife and I travel and dine out quite frequently, and Wild Ginger is now at the top of our list. We can't wait to come back to the Emerald City again to visit this rare gem.

My favorite place to take clients. Service is always professional. My all time favorites are the seven flavor beef, black pepper scallops, and of course the schzechuan green beans. Beautiful place, can be loud at times, but my favorite lunch spot.

I made a reservation during a birthday trip. Upon arriving, I was seated immediately and served efficiently. The food was spectacular, and truly Asian in authenticity. I had excellent chicken potstickers, along with prawns satay followed by a really spicy clam and basil dish, the spiciest I have had in America outside of any Chinese restaurant. Having recently returned from Thailand and Laos, and having previously visited Singapore and Hong Kong, I can say that this restaurant is the best American representative of Pan-Asian cuisine.

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in the city! Great food, great drinks, and wonderful service. It's spendy for panasian food, but worth every penny! The bar is great to. I have never had a bad experience here.

Some of my friends and I stopped in last week for dinner but the dining room was full, so we added our names to their waitlist (trust me, it goes by fast!) The bar was full, so we sat in the lobby. The hostess, Lisa, took the time, when the lobby was over-crowded, to get us some drinks and to order some appetizers for us. After about 20 minutes, we were seated at a table by the window where Nicole was our waitress. She was so polite and helpful and gave us great suggestions (rice noodles with mussels, 7 spice beef and pork with mango, all to die for!). With such a busy restaurant, it was a nice surprise and a treat to receive such great service. Although the food was unforgettable, it is the service will keep us coming back! Thank you Wild ginger!

Was just in Seattle for the weekend and Wild Ginger was the first place we ate at and I have to say the best of all the places we ate that whole weekend. Food very reasonably priced and DELICIOUS. I live in Vegas where we have every type of restaurant you can imagine and Wild Ginger matches if not beats most of them. I agree that the 7 flavor beef was the best. Service was good also and we walked in at around 7pm on a Friday night and had no problem getting a table.

This is probably my 6th time to Wild Ginger, and every time I find the service good, if not great...and the food....fantastic! Our reservation was for 7pm and we arrived around 6:30. We ordered a drink at the bar, and before it was delivered our table was ready. Our waitress (Shandra) was excellent and her tips made for an even better experience. A must is the 7 flavored beef. I was wondering if the recent negative reviews held any truth....and they don't. Wild Ginger continues to impress and until proven otherwise it will be one of our favorite places in Seattle. Enjoy!!

I had lunch here for the first time with a large group and so was able to sample many dishes. From what I could tell, certain dishes were stand-out while others were pretty average. The Thai noodles, herbed chicked and Spice Traders beef were nothing special. BUT....the seven flavor beef, duck, and especially the lamb were fabulous and highly recommended. I'm will definately go back for these dishes. The service also I found to be good and the waiter very knowledgable about the menu.

We just returned from Seattle and the one place i was told to eat came from a customer that is a chef in a fine dining restuarant formerly from Seattle and as he said "best food in Seattle" (I didn't try everywhere obviously, but it was great) - great food and fantastic service. Had dinner with my husband and 2 year old - Jennifer and Rich went out of their way to accomodate and make it an enjoyable meal - despite me spilling my drink (they replaced no - charge) bringing toys for my son and just excellent service. It was very busy - so I was not expecting to be out in 45 minutes, however, the service was pretty prompt - what I would expect from a busy popular restaurant. The duck and 7 flavor beef were great.

I just returned from having lunch there and was reminded yet again why I can't stand this place. It is completely overrated. We were seated right away, greeted by a server who took our drink orders and then ignored us for over a half-hour while we waited for the drinks to arrive. These were not difficult drinks to make - I ordered a DIET COKE. When the server finally brought my drink, she took our food order and - surprise surprise - took another half-hour to bring me a bowl of tasteless noodles. We then languished at our table for God knows how long before finally being brought the bill. When I looked at my watch I realized that we had been there for two hours! These people are slow, ineffective, and far too full of themselves. Hate this place. Hate it.

I love this place. Very nice atmospere, great service and outstanding choice of dishes. Asian cousine is so broad, but especially I love Thai. They have a great list of wines including my favorite locals from Chateau Ste Michelle. Dishes are not big, but they are so good with unforegetable flavour! Waiters knoledgeble and very helpful. They help you with choice of wine and would guide you through their huge menu. Someone here said good wirds about chairs - it is true - they are so comfortable you are just resting in them. The only one disadvantage - it is very crowdy place, but it signifies that people love it.

I just had the most incredible experience at Wild Ginger. When I called for a reservation, the girl at the front desk was very helpful in getting me and my date in for dinner. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the front desk by three smiling young women and were seated at a nice table by the window in the most comfortable chairs! Our server was very polite and helpful, suggesting a great wine to compliment our meal and helping us pick out dishes to avoid my allergy of peanuts. Since it was my birthday, he brought out a piece of cake with a candle in it!! Upon leaving, out jackets were brought to us and one of the workers even had our car brought around from the valet so we wouldn't have to wait in the cold! Thank you Wild Ginger!

As someone who makes restaurant recommendations and reservations for a living- I have a complaint about Wild Ginger. What is the deal with the hostesses? They seem to be the only restaurant in their price bracket that has a consistenly disorganized host staff. They are not particularly polite, or helpful either on the phone or in person. One would think that the busiest restaurant in Seattle would make a good first impression by making patrons feel welcome and attended to- not in-the-way and forgotten. Outside of this, the Wild Ginger experience is typically a good one, the service staff is polite, sometimes even friendly, and proficent. Lets not forget that food is great at lots of downtown restaurants, but bad service can leave a bad taste. I have decided to gently steer my patrons toward restaurants where I feel confident about their entire experience not just parts of it.

We went there on our visit to Seattle as reccomended by our hotel, and really enoyed it. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive--he offered to bring me tastings of the two wines I was trying to decide between. The upstairs two tops are very intimate and romantic, and they also have rooms for large parties. The satay vegetabes and mahi mahi were a little bland, but the soups and main stir frys were great. Portions are not huge, and I would reccomend getting one main dish and numerous appetizers and little dishes to share for two people.
My only disappointment was that we were looking for a trendy, young crowd, and this was not it.

The service was fine, however, the food there was very close to asian food but more expensive. There are better asian places in the international district where I could have gotten better, cheaper food for half the price that I spent at this restaurant. Overall, I thought that the food was ok, but the food is overpriced and the place is overhyped.

The setting is real nice, I would go back for drinks, but dining is another story. We went in a party of 12, so we had a chance to sample a wide variety of dishes. None of the dishes stood out, the portions were extremely dissappointing considering we had our waiter recommend how much we should order. We also found it humorous that some of the dishes were the EXACT same as what you could get at a casual Chinese restuarant, but it was given a different name along with a heftier price tag here.

What stood out from the night was not the food, but the service. We had an unexpected arrival to our party and asked the waiter for an extra chair, his reply. "Get one from the table behind you," those were his exact words. Go there for the drinks, but don't stay for the dining.

On my birthday, I had reservations to eat here. Even with reservations, they made my friends and I wait 45 minutes to be seated! To make matters worse...they had no explanation to why I had to wait so long. They were completely disorganized, unprofessional and uncompromising in a situation like this. They also waited 10 minutes before they stored my icecream cake in the freezer. They did not offer anything in return for my inconvenience and simply said "We lost your reservation." Very rude.

Visiting Seattle for a weekend for a wedding, I only had one night in which to try out a great restaurant. I was hesitant to go to Wild Ginger after reading some of these reviews here but upon hearing a friend's recommendation, I took the plunge. The hostess and waitress was not rude AT ALL. In fact, the hostess seated us early. Everyone in our party was extremely satisfied and the food was delicious. Two of my friends who moved to Seattle 2 months ago said it was their best night in Seattle yet.

I loved this place in its old location, when the kitchen was daring and the staff was friendly. After its move, I still ate there once a month. But I'm giving up on the place. Its food is the same old stuff and the staff is insufferable. They can't answer even simple questions about the food. Even worse, they constantly treat customers rudely by asking if you know how to use chopsticks, know how to eat whatever you ordered, etc. I suspect they will eventually ask if I know how to use a water glass!

We were seated in the bar area and our waiter approached us asking for what we'd like to order, I said "I was thinking about the chicken"...he promptly said to me" You "were" thinking about the chicken? That's like saying you were (so and so) but now your not, that's past tense". I wasn't aware that food service included grammar lessons! The whole experience went downhill from there. Hence, bad review!

The menu looked amazing... but! Mango dacquiri was delicious, but had no rum. Mango curry pork was fatty, short on sauce, and flavorless. Duck was tasty, but no better than what you can get at any Chinese joint for half the cost. Lousy food for lousy price.

I have been going to the Wild Ginger for years since it first opened up. The reason it has not only survived this long but has stayed on top as well is because of it's 3 cornerstones: food, service and ambience.

Dishes like salt and pepper scallops and fragrant duck taste as good today as they ever have. Service is friendly and attentive, but not too much so. The new digs by Benaroya Hall is spacious and has many options for dining depending on your mood including the more loud downstairs lounge, the more quiet and sedate upstairs area, the downstairs main floor or the always interesting satay bar.

Overall Wild Ginger is one of my very favorite resteraunts in the city and makes for either a romantic evening out or a great group place after a show. Service is amazing on all ends and the food is nothing short of spectacular. I know people complain about the price but I say you get what you pay for and they are worth every cent!

Also you MUST try the duck!

I was pretty excited when I first walked in because the setting was pretty nice, but that and the wine was about all that impressed me. The food was OK, but nothing to rave about and the service was below most comparable restaurants. The server suggested some greens on the side with my meal order and I took him up on the sauteed mushrooms. What he neglected to tell me was that the side dish was more expensive than my order of squid (10.95 v. 13.95). Finally when I asked him to pack up the left overs he didnt even bother to pack up the side dish. My advice go somewhere else if you can. Its over priced with poor service.

I have eaten at Wild Ginger three times in the past ten months, and after three strikes, they are definately out. Each time I had reservations (for 3, 4 and 6) on weeknights & a weekend. Despite arriving early, it took an average of 25 minutes to seat my party, with the last time (6 people) being the longest: they had checked us in, then seated another party under our name, forcing us to wait again with scarcely and apology. I have sampled about 10 items from their menu, and always felt ripped off by the quantity of the food, in addition to the food actually being rather bland! In addition to that, our servers have always been bad to actually rude! Finally, if you are a smoker, definately bail on Wild Ginger, as their smoking section is comprised of the downstairs bar, which is overcroweded and very smoky!

The only times I have been to Wild Ginger is when friends are in town and they really want to go there. Each time I have been very dissapointed. One can get a better dinner in the International District for half the price and be treated like a real person! The people at the Wild Ginger have always been condenscending and borderline rude.

Boasted as the spot for gourmet pan-asian food in Seattle, it's a shame that WG knows so little about asian food. I've never expected it to be authentic, but it's definitely slipped in quality over the years. At my latest visit, I was sad to see my favorite dish - the fragrant duck - is no longer what it used to be - instead it's dry and overdone. The restaurant seems to have outgrown itself. Fortunately, despite the snobby hostesses, the service we've experienced has always been excellent. Even so, I don't think I'll go back again and will be looking a for a new place to bring out of towners.

I've been to Wild Ginger a half dozen times in the last six months and I've never been disappointed. The food is terrific has always been very attentive. (Lunches a tiny bit less due to the huge rushes.) We took some relatives there Monday night and the server took good care of us, helping us with our menu choices and making sure nothing was made too spicy. The Mango pork is suprisingly tender, the 7 flavor beef had wonderful flavor and although the sage soup is very light the wontons are so tasty. If you go for lunch you can't miss out on the 7 Elements curry. It is so yummy.

Wild Ginger is my favorite restaurant in Seattle. There are many wonderful dishes including the Sate's with their accompanying crunchy cucumber pickles, Duck, Tuna Bruschetta and the Sechuan Green Beans. The service is always professional including the removal and replacement of used silverware after each course. The servers are all very experienced, lending their expertise without being intrusive. The value is quite good for an establishment of this caliber. I credit the continued innovative food and great service year after year to owner Rick Yoder who is always present and ever watchful over his gem of an eating establishment.

Perfect Cosmopolitan!
Exquisite Pot-Stickers
Seven Flavor Beef melts in your mouth
Wonton Soup pretty bland
Forget eating without reservations on Friday or Saturday after 5pm.

The food is great, but the service is just O.K.

Someone needs to remind the waitstaff to come back down to earth. It is as if the waitstaff is too snobby and not enough about taking care of the guest.

I have eaten here three times and always been impressed with the food and never with the service.

Please don't go to Wild Ginger. There are so many restaurants with the same quality of food that have so much more to offer as far as a dining experience. Take it from a native Seattleite and a concierge. The staff has no concept of customer service and it is a real shame. I wouldn't post this if it was an isolated incident, but I hear the same thing time and again. Great food, horrible service. People leave feeling like their patronage was not appreciated. Maybe the idea is that a good meal seems even better after being made to feel inferior?

I'm trying to still love the Wild Ginger as I did before, but it's slowly pushing me away. Service has slipped on my last two visits, with the staff not being very helpful or knowledgable about the food. What arrived at the table is always great, but sometimes members of our party got their entrees 10 minutes later than the rest of the table, a promised dish never appeared...small slips that can ruin an otherwise remarkable meal. The curries are great, the fragrant duck is always a favorite, and can easily be ordered as an extra entree to be shared with the table or even an appetizer. Unlike most Asian restaurants, the desserts are not to be missed.

New Year's Eve 2002. Reservation at 10 PM. Friends and drinks. A good time to be had in most situations... except at the WG.
-Rudely greeted by hostess at the door.
-Didn't get seated until 10:45 PM...even with reservations.
-Smoking at bar a big turn-off (It was the smoke at the bar or face waiting in the cold and rain outside while waiting for a seat).
-Evening got better once seated. Waiter was attentive and the food was surprisingly good; not earth-shattering, but good.
-If the WG ever gets around to hodling ettiquette classes for most of the staff it has the potential to be a really good restaurant.
