If you live in chiago, or the surrounding suburbs or are going to visit chicgo, i would recommend that you visit this theater if you are into the fine arts. I can reall tell that a lot of money was put into this place. As the name suggests, Shakespeare, there will be plays such as macbeth. If this is your style, please visit here. If it is not ;your style, you will definately be bored to death.

I saw a Second City's version on Romeo and Juliet called. Friar Lawrence the Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet. It was hilarious. Highly recommend. Located at Navy Pier.

I took my girlfriend to see Romeo and Juliet at the Shakespeare Theater and it was awesome. It's a new theater only built in 1999 but everything is beautifully designed and the setting was perfect. They also have a dining area and the theater was run in top notch fashion the day we went to see the musical. The staff was friendly and courteous. The lobby area overseas Lake Michigan so plan on coming early just for the ambience. Come early too to beat the traffic and parking.

This theater was designed in the traditional style of theaters such as the Globe, where Shakespearean drama was first performed. A play performed here is no different. The productions are fantastic. They offer a modern twist to Shakespeare's works, although they adhere to the traditional language. In this context, the plays are even more richly entertaining than their traditional counterparts, and are great for younger viewers because they are easier to understand with the unique way they are performed. The actors and actresses are fabulous. The tickets can be pricey but student discounts are usually available, particularly if you get a Bard Card. The seating wraps around as the stage juts out into the audience (forgot what the actual term for this is). The acoustics are unparalleled in the theater as well, due to its unique design. As a result, the performers' voices project naturally and audibly.

If you can handle getting to Navy Pier - which is crowded and swarming with kids, this theatre has really entertaining productions. It's small (seating is for about 200) and all of the seats have a good view of the stage. The tickets are reasonably priced as well. The productions are well acted, creative and original. Very entertaining!

PROS: Good set design
CONS: Getting there
