READ THIS BEFORE WORKING OR ENROLLING AT HARRINGTON COLLEGE!!!!!!!\n\nView links from the GAO - Government Accountability Office and see if you want to get your degree from a for-profit education.\n\nI worked at HCD for a number of years and would like to take this review to provide you some behind the scenes information that is not normally made public.\nFinancial Aid- They no longer have a FA office or representatives on campus. They were all laid off and now it is being handled by a centralized office through its parent company CEC(Career Education Corporation). Don't expect to get hands on service regarding your tuition and FA questions. Have you ever heard of a campus that doesn't have a FA office?! A majority of the students that go to HCD have to take out private loans in order to go, because Stafford loans don't cover the total cost of attendance. Admission reps will encourage students who don't qualify to seek out cosigners in order to go. The cost to attend may seem slightly higher than other campuses, but the reality is it is drastically higher. It is rare that any students will complete their education in under 8 years even with transfer credit because of the sequence the class are laid out. They spend more on advertising than they do on scholarships, which if you look at the scholarships it is only for two semesters because by then they figured you are in for the long haul. \nCEC- Career Education Corp. is really the school you are working at or going to. That is who pays the salaries and processes your FA loans. It is not Harrington College.\n\nThey try to make it seems like you are going to a unique school, but you are not. One school it owns is Brooks Institute which has had tons of lawsuits against them from students claiming they were provided false information. Check out this forum. \n\nAdmission- Harrington College is a For-profit school. It makes its money from enrolling as many students as possible and getting them to start. The goal is to get the student to sit in class for more than two weeks because then they have to pay tuition. Admission representatives' performance is based on the number of students they get to start each year. For those that don't hit their target they are fired. Because of this reason many representatives were caught forging documents and saying anything to the student to get them to enroll. When you speak with a representative you are just a number. The only way to move up in the department is to enroll more students. They even used to give additional compensation to admission reps that enrolled more students past their targeted goal. The teachers really care and take an interest in each student. Plus, Chicago is a wonderful city with so much to do. I would not have imagined experiencing this stage of my life anywhere else.

Pros: great teachers and a great city to live in

If you have a knack for art, this might be a wonderful school for you. This is known to be Chicago's top interior design school and they have lots of other programs to offer as well. They have a great, rigorous program and its a great place to get a degree. Many of their students have also been on HGTV. This school is nationally known for its excellence!
