Just one person's opinion. August 5, 2006

With so many other options on Boylston St, don't even waste your time. Let's start with the service. Took about 15 minutes for the wait staff to even notice. Understandable if there's a convention across the street at the Hynes but the place was half full. When she finally came over, she never wrote anything down so each of our 3 orders were wrong. Don't bother sending it back because it just never shows up but of course it shows up on the bill. Value? Now check this out. Go there Monday to Friday and you get one price. Go there on the weekend and for the same EXACT order, bump it up a few bucks per order. The food is ok but again, so many other options on the same block, why bother dealing. One last thing. Don't you hate it when you sit down at a table and when you put your elbows (arms/hands) down on the table, it sticks to it. POOR POOR POOR

If your looking for a good time in boston and dont want to spend a lot of money on drinks, then the poor house is for you. The drinks are very cheap ($4.00 for a 22 ounce draft) and the food is just as cheap (Saturdays half of burgers). The only down side about the poor house is that the music seems to be to loud for a bar and you have a hard time trying to comunicate with other. All in all though, a great bar to go to with friends.

The Pour House has been the old standby for myself and my friends as we are poor college students. It's a great place to kick back, order a cheap (but great tasting) burger and fries and a pitcher of margeritas. The location is great, just down the street from the T stop, and you hit it before the stretch of more expensive restaurants further down on Boylston. You can hang out upstairs or downstairs (if its open)-- downstairs tends to be a little darker and a little louder, but a nice place to get your drink on. My favorite thing is the table art-- gives you something funky to look at while you pound down those drinks. Oh, and try the nachos. Amazing!

PROS: Affordable, quick and easy food and drink
CONS: None

The pour house is a great place to hang out. There are cool people, cheap drinks- even a tiki bar downstairs. There's a lot to do on Boylston as well.

I like the atmosphere of the Pour House because I feel that it is not the typical Boston Bar setting. The uptairs is nice, a full bar and booth tables to eat and hang out with your friends. The food is also pretty cheap. I think you can get a hamburger there for like 3 dollars on some nights. The downstairs is awesome though. It's got room to move and an island bar set up. It's always pretty hopin, particularly on the weekend and red sox nights. Fun time for sure.
