This man is the "WHERE IS HE" of doctors. He is in charge of the care of MANY elderly at Pembroke Nursing Home in Pembroke, Ky, and let me tell you, he REFUSES to coordinate with family and caregivers to make sure proper treatment and care is given to his elderly patients. I personally tried calling him MANY MANY times. He refused to take my calls even though I am the primary caregiver and power of attorney for my 79 year old mother. When I DID get his secretary on the phone, the response was "I am only required to physically examine my patients in that nursing home ONCE every 30 days.". It took him a WEEK to remove a catheter that was instructed by St. Thomas Medical Center be removed upon my mother's arrival at Pembroke, resulting in an infection. I would not let this doctor practice on a crash test dummy if it belonged to me.

I first met Dr. Shah in the emergency room and he was very calming and assured us that we would be taken care of, my in hospital care and after care was just as good. I am able to get an appointment when I need one, Dr. Shah always takes time to listen to you and he will stay with you until you feel comfortable that your questions have all been answered. He includes you in your care management and makes sure that you understand every aspect of your care. He has also become my son and husband's doctor. His staff are highly trained and are always there if you need any advice on any part of your visit. They call whenever you have lab results they don't make you wait. And if he can't help you he always knows where to send you to get the best treatment

PROS: Great Doctor, hard working staff
CONS: long waiting list sometimes because he is like so much

I called this doctor to switch to my primary care manager. While speaking to the receptionist I found out that he only sees new patients on certain days. That meant it would be three weeks before I could even get in for my initial visit. If I would come down sick, I would still have to wait that long to get in, and could only be seen on that day. I decided to go with someone else entirely, as you never know what might come up in the future.
