If he is so good, any reason why he can't seem to listen? Have never, ever met a more arrogant doctor. I don't care how good he is. A great doctor cares enough to listen not just orate. Go elsewhere. NYC is full of neurologists.

If I didn't see Dr Rosenthal I would have been pushed into 2 unnecessary surgeries by other doctors (7 years apart).\r
He did recommend surgery in a third instance when there were no other options and I had a complete, yes complete

If you need to see a neurologist, see Dr. Rosenthal. He's friendly, down to earth, thorough, and knows his stuff. Within a few days of meeting him he had completed all the tests I needed, diagnosed me properly (something that my primary doctor and another neurologist I saw before seeing Dr.Rosenthal hadn't done), and treated me successfully. I had had a serious problem, and I am completely well again. His secretary is also super. She is fantastically efficient - got my tests authorized by my insurance company while I was in the office, and fully explained my insurance coverage to me so that I knew what what my financial responsibility was going to be before I went for the tests (Quite frankly, my coverage is so complicated , I didn't fully understand it before she explained it to me.) Anyway, the whole experience in Dr. Rosenthal's office was top notch and I recommend him without reservation.

I truly wish I could rate my experience a zero. Alas, Citysearch will not let me. I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Rosenthal at the suggestion of a friend. The Dr. (or his assistant, rather) rescheduled my appointment once, without a 24 hrs notice. Then, when I could not make it, I received a sourly response (meanwhile, I was absolutely nice when they failed to give ME a 24 hr notice). We rescheduled the appointment, and I jumped through all the hoops his assistant requested just so she could allow me to see him. I went as far as involving my insurance to ensure that they knew the services would be covered. At the last minute, the assistant refused to deal with me or the insurance company (they are within network!). The assistant's behavior is absolutely disgusting (this is putting it mildly). She is uncaring and unhelpful, and I truly felt like an inconvenience every time I dealt with her. I am sorry, but you are in the business of patient care, act like it. I cannot vouch for the Dr., but his face (the one who interacts with patients on a daily basis) speaks volumes. Go elsewhere. It is not worth the hassle, specially if you are dealing with a delicate medical situation that calls for the least amount of stress possible.

Pros: None that I could glean

Cons: The assistant gives medical practitioners a bad reputation

Very caring and knowledgable office took excellent care of me. The docttor took his time with me and his secretary was very kind and understanding. I never felt rushed, but did feel like I was in very good hands. Glad I didn't have to return, but, if I did, I'd go back to Dr. Rosenthal at any time.

Pros: Doctor and Staff are superb

Cons: no weekend hours

Front desk girl got me in really quickly. Got authorization and appointment for my MRI while I waited only 15mins! The doctor was EXTREMELY THOROUGH (never had an exam like that in my life). The doctor was very polite and caring. I felt very comfortable as his patient. Overall, I'd recommend anyone to this doctor and am greatful that I was referred to him.

Dr. Rosenthal's examination was the most thorough I have ever had in my life, in any doctor's office. HIs knowledge base is amazing. He diagnosed my problem quickly and I am cured! His secretary was also amazing. Got my all my tests approved by my insurance company and scheduled them for me immediately, while I was still in the office. American medicine can still work!

Dr. Rosenthal is a very good at what he does, and i appreciate his concern for me, and I trust he will help me with my problem, I am having. Only his secretary or whatever her title is is not very nice, and is not very understanding and doesn't listen. I feel Dr. Rosenthal need another assistant which is caring and concern about the patient she or he is speaking with patient over the phone, and her she should be kind , She cuts the conversation short and puts you on hold. I will remain a patient and get the results I need with speaking ONLY to Doctor Rosenthal. Thank you GD

Pros: A Great Doctor indeed !!!

Cons: Medical Assistant

Got an appointment the same day I called and didn't wait long when I arrived. The staff was very helpful and sensitive to my concerns. I was in a lot of pain and discomfort. I was pretty nervous of what the doctor would say too. But the doctor was very smart and sensitive to my issues and concerns. I am greatfull to him and to my family doctor for referring me to him.

Smart and knowledgeable doctor. Amazingly thorough examination. Very efficient secretary. She got all my tests authorized and scheduled within two days. Definitely diagnosed me properly. Treatment was quick and effective. I'm very thankful to Dr. Rosenthal. If you have a difficult neurological problem, as I did, he's the doctor you want to see.

Similar negative experience w the staff and with doctor. Dr Rosenthal only had a few minutes to see me every time I came. He sent me back to my referring doctor as he couldn't come up with a diagnosis after the second or third visit - said he had never seen my symptoms before.

Knows his stuff. Very smart. Very confident. Very efficient. Very articulate. Very straight forward. Maybe not for everyone, but for me, very very good. Immediately knew what my neurological problem was, and what to do for it. I got better very, very quickly after having had my problem for over 4 months before I saw Dr. Rosenthal. My advise is don't have a neurological problem, but if you have one, see this doctor.

I just saw Dr. Rosenthal for the first time last week, and then again this week. Wow - what a great doctor. My doctor told me he was great and he was right. After listening to my symptoms, he gave me the most unbelievably detailed exam (which, by the way, was a lot of fun), and then went into his room to review some old records which I had brought. When he came back to the exam room to talk to me he explained to me exactly what I had , and what needed to be done to treat it. It's only one week later and my treatment isn't yet over, but I am already feeling 80% better. Before seeing Dr. Rosenthal I had already seen 2 other specialists, one of whom was another neurologist, and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with me - one of them actually said those exact words to me. Anyway, if you're got a neurological problem, see Dr. Rosenthal - he's a great diagnostician. Also, his secretary is a great - smart and efficient.

I was very satisfied with the care given to me by Dr. Rosenthal. He was VERY detailed and explained everything to me. I was given a diagnosis that frightened me but Dr. Rosenthal calmed my fears and, with me, developed a treatment plan that was right for me. I feel confident that I am on the right path to recovery. The network of specialists that he uses are great too. I am very greatful to his secretary too. She was very understanding and although the waithing room was full, she got me in to seehim and I was never treated like a burden or like a favor was being doing for me. I was treated with patience, courtesy, and respect. I have a follow-up scheduled with him and am very comfortable in returing. I know that I am in good hands. Thank you Dr. Rosenthal and staff!!!

I would swear the review written by "yourangel" was me. Everything they said is exactly right! The receptionist is very surly- almost intimidating- and Dr. Rosenthal talks really fast and spends no more than 5 minutes with you. Yes you will get in quick but you will be out just as fast and while sometimes I do appreciate it, other times you want to ask questions and you get the feeling the doctor can't be bothered because he knows other people are waiting.

I've decided to go elsewhere even though Dr. Rosenthal's office is so convenient for me. It's too bad but I guess I just have higher standards and refuse to feel like I'm at the DMV as opposed to being at my doctor's office to help me with my medical situation.

I was surprised by the attention that we received by Dr. Rosenthal and his staff. I was very pleased with the service that my father received. My father is suffering from memory loss due to a motor vehicle accident and Dr. Rosenthal was very patient and explained everything in detail. I highly recommend Dr. Rosenthal and am confident that my father is on his road to recovery with Dr. Rosenthal's help.

I saw Dr. Rosenthal last week because I thought I was having a stroke, and so did my PCP. When I called the office his secretary told me that he was completely booked, but when I told her it was an emergency, she put me on hold to speak to the doctor, and then came back on the line and told me to come right over, the doctor said he'd squeeze me in. I will always be thankful for that because at the time I was in a near panic. When I got to the office my paper work was processed quickly and Dr. Rosenthal saw me within about 20 minutes of my arrival. After I told him my story and he examined me (this was definitely the most detailed examination any doctor has ever given me) he brought me into his consultation room and first off told me I wasn't having a stroke, and them explained to me exactly what he thought I had and why. He had me come back the next day for a test which confirmed his diagnosis, and then he set me up for the treatment I needed. It worked, and he was 100% right about my condition.

Based on my experience with him, I think that Dr. Rosenthal is a great doctor. I came in to his office an emotional wreck, and due to his confident and calm manner, incredible thoroughness, and sharp diagnostic skills, I left his office feeling quite tranquil (maybe even I little bit silly for having been so worried in the first place).

In summary, if you need a great neurologist, see Dr. Rosenthal. I'm confident you'll be satisfied and impressed.

Efficient staff- friendly and competent. Sometimes hard to get through to them on the phone - when you are in his office you'll see why - the phone is constantly ringing: his secretary handles it all extremely well, but sometimes needs more hands than she has. The doctor is very smart, knows his stuff, and communicates well. I've never had such a thorough exam. I had a relatively unusual condition - I know this because 2 other neurologists I saw could not diagnose me, and yet Dr. Rosenthal told me on my first visit what he thought I had, and then quickly confirmed it with tests. Now that I know my condition and have searched it on the web, I know how lucky I was to be seen by Dr. Rosenthal and have it diagnosed and treated correctly and quickly. I would recommend him to anyone with a neurological problem.

My grandmother?s condition was urgent and the secretary squeezed us in and we were seen the same day we called. The registration process was simplified because my grandmother only speaks Spanish and the office was kind enough to have a Spanish version of the registration forms. We waited maybe 20 minutes to see the doctor and he introduced himself with a smile. He was very thorough, caring, gentle, and patient the entire time. Although he squeezed us into his schedule, it never felt like we were being squeezed in. He also took the time to educate us on her illness and medications. Dr. Rosenthal also has a wonderful bedside manner. During visits he made conversation and even said some jokes. He also consoled my family when her illness became advanced and gave us support and excellent advice with regards to what steps to take to better care for her. His advice was timely, flawless, priceless and greatly appreciated.

His secretary didn?t have a ?lackadaisical? or lazy attitude, as the other negative feedback mentioned. She's always busy because she basically manages the office by herself. I was impressed with how quickly she scheduled our tests and had us back in just a couple of days with results. She kept the place running smoothly. I always got an answer to messages left and, if I was put on hold, I understood how busy she was. However, during an emergency, the office repsonded efficiently and quickly. Dr. Rosenthal and his staff get the job done right! I wish my doctor?s office ran this well too.

Maybe the person that left the negative feedback was a difficult person. We?ll never know. However, what I do know is that, to date, Dr. Rosenthal has also helped my uncle and brother. My family continues to be pleased with his care and professionalism. I recommend this doctor to anyone that needs a neurologist.

I was recommended to Dr. Rosenthal by a very knowledgeable and friendly urologist, Dr. Mark Stein. So I expected the experience to be positive in the least. Instead, Dr. Rosenthal's office consists of one surly assistant, who makes it obvious from your very first interaction that she either hates her job, or hates you. One would hope that perhaps an especially attentive and concerned physician would compensate for that, but this is not the case. Dr. Rosenthal will spend no longer than two to five minutes with you at a time, often walking in and out of the examining room as you wait. Because he is constantly stepping in and out, you will have no time to explain your condition or symptoms, and be sure that he will not ask except for the most minimal and basic questions. Do not expect any bedside manner save for a few sarcastic remarks. He actually made the statement to send me for a second MRI was being "disgustingly thorough". Can you be TOO thorough when it comes to a patient's health? Apparently Dr. Rosenthal thinks so. Save your time and your copay money, and see ANYONE else. I am still forced to deal with this office to obtain my films to see a new neurologist, and even this relatively simple process is taking well over a reasonable amount of time due to the office assistant's lackadaisical attitude, the office's abrupted hours, and the fact that you need sheer luck for someone to pick up your phone call. Good luck! You'll need it if you decide to see Dr. Neil Rosenthal.
