Palo Alto Medical Foundation is a meat factory or maybe I should say that the Doctors operate like they are standing in an assembly line and keep saying, NEXT!!!. They see patient one after the other without taking the time to see what the problem is.
For 3 years I went there to seek cure for my bad knee pain and my swollen ankles and none of the Dr.s could find out what was wrong with my knee as none of them really took the time to see where the problem is coming from, none suggested I should take an X-ray or ultra sound or even better an MRI but they kept tossing me back and force between so many other doctors within PAMF plan who I can frankly say they have no clue what they??re doing or what their practicing.
None of the doctors really look at my chart and none really read my medical history to see where my pain is coming from but they sure made me go back there for more appointment with more doctors which was completely useless. The doctors never return your call even if it is emergency and the staff are so rude that if you ever call and question anything, they would put you on hold for life or they simply refer you to ER?.
Unfortunately, my health insurance is under PAMF and my husband & I have no choice but putting up with these incompetent people for how long? God knows?..

I have a 2.5 yr old son. Here is what happened. Judge for yourself.

1. My son has been sick for 3 days and I had to take him to a pediatrician. My original pediatrician at pamf was on maternity leave and so I call in the appointment desk and my problems begin. The lady in the appointment desk was nothing short of a thug. She tried to force me to accept an appointment with a doctor who is not covered in my insurance. When I was asking for alternatives she says "What the hell is the problem with you. Why dont you accept the doctor we allot to you?".

2.
As for my first visit with the original doctor a couple of months ago, I asked a general question as to whether he is feeling uneasy because his tooth is coming out. The reply I got was, 'What do you expect from a 2 yr old'?

3.
Most alarming was that they were going to vaccinate my son a second time for polio by mistake since the doctor did not take the time to read my sons chart before the appointment and was in a hurry. When my wife insisted he had a vaccination already, she want back to check and said 'Oh Ok. I missed that'

Conclusion:
I am not sure if these people are under pressure but I will NEVER take my son to this factory. I really miss my old pediatrician for 2.5 yrs who was extremely helpful and caring. We had to switch since their practice became a Kaiser only facility.

I had PAMF as my medical primary---they are absolutely the worst. Doctors won't call you back, they won't call in prescriptions..you're better off going to the emergency room or a specialist. Save yourself the time and trouble -- go somewhere else.

Other than the clean facility and everything was convenient because it's all located in one place, the doctors seems to be in a rush to get you out the door. We were given the same excuses over and over when in fact they could have done further diagnostic. We felt this place is more of a business than a medical facility.

The thing I like most about this clinic is that they are very good about getting you in to see your doctor. They are very accomodating about same day appointments and the staff are very efficient. The only drawback is their billing department which is very hard to get a hold of. They do not give out their direct # and it's hard to try to get in touch with someone about billing questions.

PROS: Appointment Scheduling
CONS: Getting in touch with their billing department

We had a very bad experience with the pediatrician we selected at the Fremont PAMF (I choose not to name the doc here). The doc was patient and seemed knowledgeable, but had no kindly manner and wasn't concerned with our feelings as first-time parents experiencing major health problems with our son. Bad, bad beside manner and lack of alacrity in dealing with the problems. We simply stopped going after 8 weeks (found another ped) because of dissatisfaction. Grade: D

PROS: Nice facility, short waiting times, on-site lab
CONS: Too cookie-cutter, lack of bedside manner

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation is a non-profit health care organization. Their pediatric department is wonderful. All the doctors are very patient and quite knowledgeable. Plus the wait time to see a doctor is less than 15 minutes which is great when you have a sick child. The facility is very well managed.
It is very easy to get appointments and they also have a website which is really up-to-date.

PROS: Easy to get same day appointments, good doctors
CONS: None

The practice is concerned of patient service. The doctors are pretty caring. It also has a very efficient lab. There is a small medical library near the waiting area, which I found helpful while waiting. There is one receptionist who I think could be rough. Aside from that, the practice is well run.

I have been going her for a few years off and on they really are good there. Its has all the different kind of Doctors in one location. So it make it nice if you and you kid have to go the same day. They are really good about making your appointment right after each other. The Doctor really care about you and your care. A+++

I haven't been back to the Palo Alto Clinic for a few years now, but they used to be my primary care giver. The last incident was quite unpleasant and the source of my reluctance to seek treatment there again. In all fairness, the problems that existed a few years ago when the Fremont branch first opened up is probably no longer an issue; they've had ample time to hire the necessary clinicians. My last appointment was an embarrassing mess. I had to go in for an ear infection. They booked me to see a doctor at the same time as four other individuals, so it was basicaly a "group appointment," absurd as it sounds. Patient confidentiality went out the window. All four of us had to take turns describing our symptoms for various ailments as the doctor examined us in turn. I was disgusted because the doctor touched one patients fungus infected foot and then leaned over to start examining my ear. I firmly requested that he wash his hands. He abided, but I was shocked that he hadn't done so on his own.

PROS: higher quality medical care than Kaiser
CONS: disorganized and short-staffed a few years ago
