Was treated to a dinner here by a client and was impressed by the location and their menu. Their drinks can be expensive and the you have the usual hollywood crowd there late nights but the sushi is pretty good and not too expensive considering the swankiness of this restraurant. Good place to take some out-of-town friends or have a couple drinks while watching kunf fu in hollywood.
PROS: Decor, Menu
CONS: Pay for parking, expensive bar
I recently ate here on a weekend and was suprised how good the food was. I would say this is better than your average fish taco place like rubios or la salsa. Their combos are not too expensive and you get tons of food. I would go back for more. Try their rice bowls.
PROS: Good food, good service
Every time I visit Santa Barbara I have to go to Sambos for breakfast. I always get the Santa Barabara omellete which is an avocado omelette basically. Good stuff. Everything on the menu here is pretty good though and their beachfront location is very nice.
PROS: Good food, view of the beach
I was impressed with the hospitality and overall service from this hotel. The rooms were very nice and the price wasn't too bad. I stayed in one of their King Suites with a fireplace which was a good touch. It overall has a very country feeling and is relatively quiet. I hear their private cottages are also very nice but also more expensive. The hotel is centrally located near the main square in Solvang which is also a plus.
PROS: quiet, good service
One of my favorite concert venues in Los Angeles. I recently saw the LA Philarmonic play here and was impressed with the sound of the talented musicians. The fireworks specacular was a great touch. Arrive early and have a picnic to make it a great night out. For some concerts, valet parking is availabe which I highly recommend. You will be in and out in less than no time instead of all those poor other folks trapped in their cars as they wait for jammed parking lot to clear.
PROS: Great outdoor venue
CONS: Parking can be painful unless you valet
I had to rent some snowboarding boots and found Val Surf to be not only cheap but also convinient because it was right in Old Town Pasadena. The staff helped me find what I needed and I was in and out really quick. Unfortunately, snowboarding gear is a bit overpriced though so if you're looking to buy gear I would go somewhere else.
PROS: Cheap rates for renting snowboard gear
CONS: Expensive to buy gear
I can't say I have attended many wedding in Las Vegas Casinos but I just recently attended on here at the Tropicana and was suprised by how nice it was. The chapel was outdoors and had a tropical theme. Overall it was a good experience and we were in and out in about 15mins. I guess that's how they do it in Vegas.
PROS: Nice chapel, tropical decorations
The best thing about Ballys is it's central location. It's right in the middle of the the Las Vegas strip. You can walk to the Paris, Aladdin, Cesar Palace and Belagio. There is even a monorail station to take you to even more places on the strip. The rooms are also very big and their rates are affordable. Still, compared to other luxurious hotels in Sin City, Ballys is pretty plain and lacks in many ammenities that other hotels have. For instance, there is no fridge or minibar in the room. What up with that?
PROS: Central location, reasonable rates and big rooms
CONS: No fridge/minibar in room, plain decor, casino is small
The Laugh Factory is great for a night of drinks and laughs. Be sure to arrive early to get a good seat and parking. There is a 2 drink minimum but it's worth it. If you are lucky, a celebrity will sometimes show up for a guest appearace
Sequoia is one of my favorite camping sites in California. The park rangers are all very friendly and the trails are simpy amazing. Try the Misty Falls trail or if you have a couple of days hike into Paradise valley. After a long days hike, visit Hume Lake for a refreshing swim and kayaking. Don't forget to visit the old Boole tree and Meadow of ancient tree stumps on your way out. All in all, a great place to visit. They have a little bit of everything for everyone.
