the high dive bar
the highdive is located in the artsy fremont area, but is yet a bar that is not too exploited, which to me is a great thing because the people that come to this bar are not show-offs, but more so laid back type of people. inside, you can situate yourself anywhere, a barstool at the bar or a barstool next to the wall or on a leather couch next to the dj, in almost complete darkness. so, you don't have to worry about looks. but rather, just enjoying the music and the flow and the vibe of the highdive. the drinks are mostly made very well. i have had a satisfactory cosmopolitan, but mostly again, the drinks are made well. and this bar sells camels! which is better than the other bars that usually sell lucky strike.
Fortune Sports Bar
this bar is definately not the type of crowd i would like to be in. first off, the servers/bartenders were just rude. i guess one can see why the customers that come into this bar are not very happy people themselves. regardless, my friends and i ordered some beers, and you can already have guessed. the beers tasted awful. and there was not very much to choose from either.
Cafe Allegro Expresso Bar
perfectly situated in the u-district, this coffee shop surprisingly has savoring lattes. i know this coffee shop is actually an expresso bar, but the lattes are awesome. i think this coffee shop should be re-named "cafe allegro latte bar". i must say, that indeed, the expressos are tasty and make your eyes boom wide open.
First Hill Bar & Grill
if you do not want to be seen by many, rather be a bit exclusive while enjoying your sports game, then this bar is the place to be. my boyfriend and i enjoyed the 2004 nba finals at this bar without the hundreds of screaming people. rather, it was just a couple (capacity under 10), that were enjoying the game. this would be more like a beers and straight shots type of bar. definately not a highly regarded for the sophisticated. rather, just a laidback hideaway for sports fans.
Rosebud Restaurant & Bar
this bar serves the best cosmopolitan that i have ever tasted in seattle. i have been to every bar and nightclub imaginable in seattle, and the cosmopolitan that i remember the most is at the rosebud. i have to say that the bar itself is quite a cosy, artsy atmosphere. i mean, there are couches inside, as well as barstools and chairs with tables, while outside there is a patio. unfortunately, for the smokers, this is one of the rare places in seattle by which you must smoke outside. but still, the drinks are the absolute greatest made.
Pegasus Coffee Bar
more like for the early morning waker-uppers because the coffee is not very tasty. however, the coffee does wake you up and not too bad of a taste. as for the chai lattes, euh, tasted a little too milky. not much flavor. and the teas available were not very large in assortment. but i must say, that if you are an early person, then pegasus is surely open for a quick stop of coffee.
Jillian's
there are 2 floors to this bar/game place. the 1st floor has all the arcade games, basketball shooting games, table hockey games, darts, and pingpong. the 2nd floor is filled with billiards tables. oh, and actually half of the 1st floor has billiards tables as well. so, this place is the ultimate place for fun 'n games. and the drinks are really cheap as well.
Howl at the Moon
yes. it is a bit of a hole in the wall type of place. or at least the people that show up there make the place seem that way. without the type of people that come to the howl at the moon, i think the place actually looks a little classy. a half of some belltown and a half of some capital hill.
Bauhaus Books and Coffee
this is the perfect spot to have a sip of gourmet made coffee while studying for your finals. but not only that, this coffeeshop has this wall filled with books by which is open to the public. so, if you would like to have a sip of flavorful coffee and have a great book to read at the same time, then bauhaus is the place to be.
Venom
as i entered into this club on a friday night, the music was not very enticing to me. regardless, i still entered to try to make the most of the night. as the night passed, the music got better, and the people were kind of amusing, but still, i could have just stayed home and had just the same amount of fun. i have to admit though, that the decor was very dark and endearing. but i think the decor would be more appreciated by trance go-ers.
