Regence BlueShield
I've had Regence insurance for a few years now, and honestly have no complaints. I've been to see doctors through my plan several times, and never have had any billing problems, which I have experienced once with my former insuance, Blue Cross. Regence seems to have a large network of doctors, and I am always able to find dr. offices near my apartment.
PROS: No billing problems, I've found good doctors so far.
CONS: No complaints.
Center For Yoga of Seattle
I took a weekly series class at this yoga studio, and it was overall a good experience. My instructor was clearly learned in yoga, and she was very good about making sure we didn't push ourselves too hard. She also pushed us gently to have proper positioning and posture in the poses she taught us. Very calming class, and I felt great afterward.
PROS: Great instructor, good sized class, and fun.
CONS: Out of my way as far as location on 65th.
8 Limbs Yoga Center Capitol Hill
I've only taken two drop-in classes at this studio, but I was very impressed. I had a friend recommend it to me, and it is only a few blocks from my house. I picked a beginner class, and it was perfect! I thought it mught be too accelerated for me, but the instructor was very helpful in helping me with poses others were more familiar with. And the space is roomy but calm and cozy at the same time. Not to large of a class size too.
PROS: Perfect size classes, kind and helpful instructors.
CONS: Monthly membership seems prohibitively pricey to me.
Garage
The Garage is actually a fun place to hang out. They have good drinks, friendly bartenders, lots of pool tables, and a fairly new bowling lane area. Everything is buy the hour, and on weekends, it gets expensive. But if you come here on certain weekday nights, the rate is cheap. They also have nice booths to sit in, which is a nice touch. Convenient Capitol Hill location.
PROS: Cheap on some nights, good stiff drinks, friendly staff.
CONS: Can be expensive and crowded on weekends, have to wait long for pool table.
Jillian's
The few times I have been to Jillians, I have had a really good time. They have nice pool tables, and although their per hour charges to play are high on weekends, during the week they're not so bad. They also have decent drinks, fairly friendly bartenders, and a game area with air hockey and various video games. There's always something to do here, not just sit around and drink!
PROS: Lots of activities, good food and drinks.
CONS: Pool is pricey on weekends.
Belltown Billiards & Calozzi's Italian Grill
Depending on what sort of fun you are looking for, the Belltown Billiards might be perfect for you, or a nightmare. I found it to be a complete meat market, expensive drinks, and you had to wait a long time to get a pool table. But on the other hand, if you are looking to stare at/hit on beautiful people, this is the place to go, there seems to be a lot of action here. Pool tables are admittedly nice and cared for, pricey to rent.
I haven't had any food there, so I can't comment on that.
PROS: Tasty drinks, meat market.
CONS: Pricey pool and drinks, meat market.
Golden Gardens Park
I love Golden Gardens! Aside from it being a gorgeous beach to go to during the day, it is a fun plce to hang out at night. On weekend nights, a pretty largecrowd of people get together around the numerous campfire grills the park has to cook food. It's a great way to get some fresh air and socialize with a few buddies. Just don't bring liquor, the cops make rounds.
PROS: Lovely beach, freecampfire grills to use, fresh air.
CONS: Can get crowded on weekends.
Seattle Japanese Gardens
This is a beautiful garden, full of colorful foliage. It's a bit hidden in the arboretum, but worth the search; a perfect little trip for a lazy weekend day. Plus it's cheap to get in!
PROS: Beautiful garden that won't see anywhere else in town.
CONS: A little hard to find in the arboretum for those new to it.
The Space Needle
I've only been her eonce in my six years living in Seattle, but it was a wonderful experience to remember! I went to the restaurant at the top, which was so classy and great food. Admission to the observation deck was free if you dine there, so I'm not sure how much it usually is, but I would recommend it despite the cost. Go on a clear day, you'll can see so far, maybe even Mt. Ranier.
PROS: Amazing view, good restaurant at top.
CONS: View at restaurant better than observation deck, which seemed dirty.
Bank of America Mortgage
I have been with Bank of America ever since I moved to Seattle six years ago, and have had a love/hate relationship with them. I had no problems until they started charging customers $3 a pop to use the tellers, and I had a bad experience with a very rude teller at the Capitol Hill branch. Last year, I noticed they started a big push to ramp up their customer service, and have seen the dramatic difference. I have had no problems since, and am happy there although the fees remain.
PROS: Tellers and phone customer service reps are nicer in recent years.
CONS: Teller fees, yuk.
