Ballard Sunday Farmers Market
I have always enjoyed going to the Ballard Farmers Market since I first moved here. They always have the top quality trustable fruits and vegetables in town. There is this weird proud feeling I have when I buy food from this place. I feel like my money is going where it needs to go. I suggest all locals to go and see for themselves. Many choices here as well. This is a win win situation indeed!
Money Mart
This place is your usual check cashing/loan/wire transfer/money order establishment.
In my 8 years in Seattle I have used this particular business for either cashing a check because my bank was closed, or I had to send or receive money through Western Union for an emergency situation. The employees have always been nice and the location is perfect for me, personally speaking.
They have parking available as well.
Tires Les Schwab
These guys at Les Schwab are awesome. There have been at least two times where they fixed my flat tire for free. Yes, free! I couldn't believe that they'd take the time to do this considering they made no money from me. Either way, this business has always been my choice for tire and tire related incidents. I guess it's thier way of expressing good karma.
Trader Joe's
Finally my neighborhood gets a Trader Joe's! I can finall walk to the store and get organic foods for cheap! A little birdie told me that it's a great place to meet(possible dating)people. I have noticed, believe it or not. Besides that, the food an d wine is the main attraction. This was an instant hit from the first day on, for good reason. Good frozen dinners, cheap wine, fresh bread, produce, plethora of cheeses, creative deli section, farm raised meats, great employees, etc. I could go on and on. My favorite grocery store in the world!!
City Market
This store is located in the heart of the Capitol Hill area. This is a true urban location. They have almost all the essentials for a convenient store. They have a deli section, alcohol, produce, can foods, videos, etc. The employees are always nice. The customers are usually the hipster, punker, computer tech. types. There are several coffee shops and bars in the area. This place is pure cool and purely convenient!
Capitol Hill Market
In my 10 years in Seattle, I have shopped at this store a few times or more. Ok, this is a personal/biased opinion but it has always supplied my short term needs. The owner and employees are always nice and mellow. This isnt a 7-11 rip off. This is a true local hometown feel convenient store. This store is located in the Capitol Hill area, next to a coffee shop, thrift store, laundry mat, storage place, and tattoo shop.
This my place of choice for a quick run to the store for stuff ..like beer and chips.. when in the area that is
Seattle Drum School
The Seattle Drum School of Music is something quite amazing and unique all together. They offer drums and music instruction for all ages. They have seminars and workshops quite often. These folks are influencing the youth to express their musical talents. Along with the classes for the youth, they provide an all ages venue across the street from the school. They are open to all genres of music and they provide a free CD copy of the live show for the performers. Free and professionally mixed! What a deal? That is true kindness.
Bravo!
Seattle Gymnastics Academy
This family friendly place has classes for all age ranges. The coaches are talented and patient, and still push hard work on the kids who attend these classes. See this isnt a playtime. It's real excercise, coordination, teamwork, and patience. These are the things kids should learn and incorporate them into real life. The Seattle Gymnastcis Academy has been making talented/hardworking kids for several years now. The atmosphere is really upbeat and safe.
Sunshine Thrift Shop
I noticed last month, when I moved back to the Capitol Hill area, that I was near the Sunshine Thrift store. This place has decent things and is quite low profile not including the orange painted building. All sales go to an AIDS foundation of some sort. I would like to encourage people(especially the locals) to check this place out. Give yourself some nice threads and give a worldwide and needed cause.
Salvation Army
This is Seattle's Center division for the Salvation Army stores. It's located in the southern part of downtown, near the stadiums. It can also be a pain to get there(traffic and inconvenient location). Just beware!
As far as things(clothes, toys, electronics, furniture,etc)go..this is a great place. I have been able to find old instruments and antique electronics. I was never impressed with the men's clothing though.
