Is it a Farmers Market? I guess so, but it's so much more! I take everyone who comes to visit from out of town here. Three of my favourite places to shop are here. I buy meat, fish and produce at the market regularly. Whenever I visit my elderly aunt I stop and pick up a gorgeous seasonal floral bouquet - for $5!!! You can get a HUGE one for $15 Also, gifts, junk and heaven knows what else. Even if I don't buy anything at all, it's a fun thing to do with the family. Enjoy the street preformers and food stalls. On a cold day make sure you get some fresh hot donuts.
If you want to get serious shopping done without the crowds, go on a weekday morning. People complain about parking, but don't realize you can park for one hour free in the attached public garage. Plenty of time for picking up groceries!
Aside from all the millions of ways that walmart is a terrible company, (if you don't know do a google search) this particular store is awful. Actually they all seem to be that way from what I remember. I recieved a couple of walmart gift cards, so decided to break a long standing boycott and shop there a few times. Each time the store was over crowded and lines were extremely long. Aisles were disorganized, shelves messy. They try and make you think your shopping in this great american store, but 99.99% of the stuff in there is made in china. That's fine, but don't try and be sneaky about it,
Yeah, the prices are low, but alot of the cheapest stuff is junk. For name brands you can probably do just as well at other stores if you try. The clothes are atrocious - unfashionable and poorly made.
Do your patriotic duty and just avoid it!
I usually hate banks. I expected to hate this one too. I was pleasantly surprised. The service and staff is reminiscent of an old small town local bank. Reasonable rates and fees, courteous staff. Telephone customer service is actually helpful. They will go out of the way to help, and have even reversed charges they didn't have to as a courtesy.
They have ATM debit cards that earn airline miles too, which is really cool and unique.
Warning: If you are a conservative you should probably stay out. Otherwise enjoy. This is a really neat little place with two floors and several nooks and crannies full of interesting and unusual books, with a leftist slant. Barnes and Noble it Aint! (and that's a good thing!)
I've never been a big fan of any Albertsons store, but this one is worse than most. They have a poor selection of brands. The store is a little run down. There are never enough checkstands open and the deli is downright scary sometimes. To make it even more annoying you have to have the stupid card to get the sale prices.
I LOVE Ikea. Furnished my entire apartment from there after a cross country move for under $1000. Stylish modern and semi traditional home furnishings, fun store with a childrens play area and great, cheap cafe.
Everyone has heard of Ikea. Yes it's true you have to assemble a lot of the stuff yourself, but it's not that difficult. Just get a good bottle of glue and it's probably sturdier than some of the stuff at regular discount furniture stores. Or they will assemble and deliver for you for extra.
It's cool stuff at good prices, and a fun place to window shop even on a rainy day!
Family friendly, but good enough for a date too! Excellent Italian food. Pretty traditional fare - not as fancy as Olive Garden, but not nearly as expensive either.
Neat quirky decorating scheme. Expect a long wait on Fri or Sat nights. Hint: the pager works in the Borders next door!
PROS: Value, Good Food
CONS: Crowded on Weekends
This is one of those drive through espresso joints. But it's much more put together than most. I go here at least three times a week. The service is great. The lattes are even better. Try the specialty flavors. I reccoment the legendary latte. I have no idea what's in it, but it's delicious. Kids drinks are a buck!
They sell ciggarettes too, which while not very healthy, is very convenient if you're running late for work - no need to decide whether it's more important to stop for good coffee or smokes!
Even if you don't smoke (and I hope you don't!) you'll love the coffee!
PROS: It's really good!
I've actually been to dozens of Zoos in the US and Canada and this is by far my favorite. It's not too big, but there is a wide variety of exhibits and all are top notch. Landscaping and design is perfect, and there are plenty of seasonal and rotating exhibits to keep things fresh for frequenters.
PROS: Setting, Diversity, FUN
This isn't the fanciest gym ever. No pool, smoothie bar or extra frills. But they do have a wide variety of quality equiptment in good condition and what else do you really need?
A separate area for women to work out if they choose. Childcare available. Large clean locker rooms and showers. Some aerobics and other classes. Not a lot of oiled muscle heads showing off thier huge arms. Just regular folks trying to stay in shape or lose a few pounds.
Did I mention it's only $20.00 a month?
PROS: Price, Relaxed Atmoshpere
