This opened during the dot.com boom when people were literally drinking champagne every night and was a very showy "in the know" place for the hippest of hip in SF. It's very classy-feeling and in a great neighborhood and has mostly young professionals in their 20s, 30s and 40s hanging out at the bar and seems especially jumping Friday nights b/c of its close location to the Financial District. There is an extensive list of champagne and wine as well as a complete open bar. They also have tasty gourmet appetizers (not chips and salsa or pretzels) which are quite impressive considering this isn't a real restaurant. However, if you're going out for a beer, or some place really casual, go somewhere else - Bubble Lunge is upscale in both dress, attitude and decor.
PROS: Great champagne, Convenient North Beach/Financial District location
CONS: Crowd can be annoyingly snobby
This place is local and that is why I have gone here b/c of its convenient location. The staff is OK but don't seem too too knowledgeable or intelligent about cars. The prices are not that reasonable and the work could be done for cheaper elsewhere, but it's close to my home so I forgive the slighly higher prices. I was most annoyed that during my last visit they recommended that I change some fluids as I was LEAVING the place and after I had already paid - I was like, "Uh, you might want to tell me BEFORE you finish my service next time that the xyz fluids need to be changed because I'm ready and wanting to leave now." Its great for convenience because of the location but that is about it. And don't go here is you need ANYTHING more than the basics done.
PROS: Fast service and convenient location
CONS: Staff is not that helpful and doesn't seem knowledgeable
This is a good place for shopping for auto stuff. I haven't gotten any services here but I've bought a few things like car mats, car cleaning supplies, etc and I thought the selection was good (not great) and the prices seemed reasonable.
PROS: Good Basic Auto Parts Store
CONS: Selection was good, not great
I use to say this place was great but will now give it the thumbs down. Terribly managed and over-priced. The last few times I've taken my car here the work was not completed and there was no follow up on several items and I got charged a boatload. Avoid. Try Dale's Auto in SF which is less expensive and they also specialize in Saabs.
CONS: High prices, poorly managed, chaotic
This cafe is located on Taylor and Lombard in the North Beach area of SF. The food (sandwiches, soups, brunches, bagels) is great. FREE Wi-Fi for your laptop too which is a nice treat compared to other places that charge. It can get noisy on weekends during rush-brunch time.
PROS: Nice people, tasy food, free Wi-Fi for laptops
CONS: None really
This is a tiny tiny place for take-out food only (no tables). They don't have many options but their options are pretty tasty. They sell teriyake chicken, small salads and noodle soups. Good, but nothing great. It is a basic place for food if you work in this neighborhood. Theowners are friendly. For lunch only though - No dinner served.
PROS: Fast service, Tasty Food
CONS: Small amount of choices
This little store has the most beautiful stationary ever. I love the atmosphere also. I got personalized, initialized stationary here and ALWAYS get compliments on both the design of the lettering and the quality of the actual paper (Crane's.) I knew what I had in mind before I got to the store but the salesperson helped me actually pick it out of the 1000s of options they have. Be aware though --- IT'S VERY EXPENSIVE.
PROS: Great Selection, Cozy Atmosphere, Good Service
CONS: HIGH prices
For the price, this is the bomb. The building is beautiful - it was once an old movie theatre and got turned into a gym and they still have the movie screen up and run all type of mvoies. The screen is visable from all around the gym so you can always watch the movie - fabulous. They also have TVs everywhere. It is never too crowded. The staff is friendly and the rates are good for what you get. NOTE: This is NOT a fancy gym ala Sports Club LA or Equinox.
PROS: Great rates, Fun atmosphere, down to earth
CONS: bad parking in this neighborhood
This place is a super fun grocery shop in SF! The wide variety of foods, the fun atmosphere, the healthy and fresh options and the super low prices.... This place can't be beat. They even have a parking garage in the building so you can park right there. Don't go grocery shopping anyhwere else! There are locations all throughout SF if Bay St location doens't work for you
PROS: Great Food variety, Friendly Atmosphere, Freshness, Parking
CONS: Gets crowded on weekends
Sams Anchor Cafe in Tiburon is world-class. It's a beautiful bar/restaurant which is HUGE deck with fabulous views of the Bay. Services sandwiches, bar food, brunch, oysters, whatever. Such a great atmosphere to come out to Sam's and sit on the deck in the sun and enjoy the afternoon with friends. I ALWAYS take visitors to Northern California to Sam's for brunch or dinner and they ALWAYS leave saying it was one of their favorite places and most memorable experiences while here. Don't go when it's cloudy and cold though - sitting inside isn't worth the trip
PROS: Fabulous afternoon hanging out, Fun
CONS: Don't go in bad weather - Sitting inside is lame
