The company's website says it all - they carry tons of premium brands (like 10+) of the best jeans being made in a small, nice environment devoted to denim lovers. The people who work here couldn't be friendlier and there are many dressing rooms on the second floor away from street level so more private. Best place to buy denim in San Francisco!!!
PROS: Nice sales people, great atmosphere, FABULOUS SELECTION
If you want to go to a bike SPECIALTY store, where people treat bikes like they're diamonds and can tell you the exact number of centimeters that your saddle should be down to the TENTH of a centimeter, look no further. These guys are the pros - they don't sell cheap bikes (least expensive one I saw $1700 and they custom make bikes for up to 6k or 7k) - but they are the absolute experts and know everything there is to know about buying a bike and the biking world. You will not likely find a 'deal' here but you will learn ALOT by talking to any of the guys in this shop and you can buy a GREAT bike here.
PROS: Expert, precise knowledge of bikes and biking - PROS
CONS: Not cheap
This is a relatively small grocery market in the heart of Russian Hill. They sell fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and other foods. I love shopping here because the people are so friendly and down to earth. The meat dept is great and has wonderful meats and pre-made fish cakes like salmon cakes, crab sakes, etc. The only downside is that prices can be high - I wouldn't suggest going here for a LARGE grocery shopping trip. Buy all your cleaning staples at Target and packaged food staples at Safeway ... and go here for other things you need to get quickly and want very fresh and are willing to pay a little extra for.
PROS: Great xcustomer service, very fresh fruits and vegetables and meats
CONS: Prices can be high - You're paying for the location and high quality
If there's a better taco in SF, I haven't found it. This place has food that tastes GREAT, it is totally cheap, and the people who work there are friendly as can be. Great for lunch of dinner, this is a staple in the life of any SF person who loves Mexcan food. 5 stars for sure! (Try the Pescado fish tacos)
PROS: Great food, Great prices, Nice People
CONS: Lines can be long on weekday evening - that's b/c it's good though!!
This place offers a nice atmosphere with very basic foods - hamburger, onion soup, some salads in the heart of Russian Hill. Not very fancy, and not very expensive, it is a good place to grab a quick bite to eat when you don't want to spend a lot of money but you'd like to sit down at a table and enjoy a reasonably nice restaurant (wood paneling etc) that is not just a diner. People who work there are nice. Again, food is very 'basic.'
PROS: Good Food, Good prices, Nice Neighborhood Feel
CONS: Nothing fancy (if that is a con)
This place has absolutely fabulous food (french served in small plates 'tapas' style) but the service is very hit or miss. The place can also get obscenely crowded and loud. If you go I really recommend sitting outside on the patio (heated and beautiful with white christmas lights and inside a gorgeous white tent) - it's much nicer than the interior of the place and less loud. Again, food is absolutely fabulous - but the service can leave ALOT to be desired. Try to skip their busier nights like Sat and go on a slower weeknight instead.
PROS: Great Food
CONS: Too loud inside and sometimes poor service
A great 2 level sports store with TONS of good sporting stuff. You can buy gear for skiing, biking, running, yoga etc etc. One of the strong strong cons is that it is not a specialty sports store (i.e. specializing in biking, golfing, etc) so there can sometimes be limited things for a particular sport or **knowledge of the sport is not as in depth as at another store**. I experienced this in the bike dept where the help I got was really sub-par and the guy almost sold me a $2,000 bike that didn't fit me at all. Be careful with this. Nonetheless, the people are friendly and the store is a fun experience in sports retailing. Overall, a good place to shop for sports stuff - especially if you want to pick up gear for 2-3 sports at one time.
PROS: Great assortment, Nice Salespeople, Fun Atmosphere
CONS: Not a specialty store so limited knowledge in salespeople
This is a cute store which, randomly, carries a small amonut of ladies clothing and baby clothing. I guess that the idea is that lots of women in their 20s and 30s want to shop for themselves and their baby at the same time? So anyway, it's a unique concept in retailing I guess. The stuff IS very cute - they carry upscale brands for both babies and Moms (not maternity clothing - regular clothing). Jeans like Sacred Blue and pants by other top brands like Sanctuary. They also have cute tops and jean jackets. They carry a small assortment of jewelry and other gifts. It is a good store and fun to play around in - it is just way way WAY expensive at times. I'd suggest trying to hit one of their sales which seem to happen 2 or 3 times a year and the discounts are heavy.
PROS: Cute stuff, NICE and trustworthy (not pushy!) sales associates
CONS: Very expensive, Limited assortment
Dr. Mark Marin is a wonderful, all around general practicioner in the heart of the financial district. I have referred 10+ people to him and everyone has said wonderful things. He is nice, has a reassuring bedside manner, and is quite approachable and genuine. I wouldn't think of going to anyone else unless necessary - a wonderful general practitioner!!
PROS: Nice, Genuine, Convenient location, Great service!
CONS: Not a single one
These cleaners lost a great, brand-new shirt of mine. They actually sent me home with the wrong shirt and I didn't realize the error for almost two weeks. When I did and tried to go back to get my shirt, they couldn't find it anywhere. Getting them to reimburse me $75 for the shirt and the dry cleaning of it was a hellish process and they weren't nice about it. I had to go in there 3+ times. I can't imagine if they'd lost something more valuable like a nice coat or dress - I don't think I ever would have gotten the money back.
CONS: They lose clothes, Management is unfriendly and hard to deal with
