Since the smaller hardware near us closed, we have to go to Home Depot. This can be very frustrating as it is hard to find things and no one is very helpful - even after you find someone who works here.
They don't carry a lot of things any longer. We bought a shower liner last year for a new bathroom and went to get another for another bathroom...no such luck. And the tile selection (which we had to do instead) was awful. What horrid colors!
But worse are the Home Services. We have used them twice (and why twice instead of once, I just don't know). Once for a fence....they were ok, but they left without checking the latches! I have very large, purebred dogs and this ended up with me having over 600 lbs of dog - and one very loved, expensive dog who wasn't mine - running loose. That's poor service.
But the real clincher was when we ordered vinyl flooring through Home Depot. The service men arrived and I was so excited about my new floor, before they even brought in the materials I showed them my sample and said "Won't this look great?" and he told me that it didn't look at all like what they'd been given.
So I looked, and sure enough, it was TOTALLY different. We called Home Depot and they sent a manager out. She agreed that it was drastically different, but advised us to use it anyway because remodeling was always a pain!!!!
Needless to say we demanded a refund and eventually got one. We had been told it was the manufacturer's fault. We took our sample down to the manufacturer (who handily happened to be just in Kent), picked up our own flooring and hired our own installer. Much simpler!
I adopted two cats from MEOW and found them to be very pleasant and easy to work with. More importantly though, they took really nice care of the cats.
The cats are kept either in foster homes or at the Mercer Island Pet Grocery, rather than a shelter. Its a nice set up for the cats and they get all they need.
Our cats were clean and healthy when we got them, which was really a plus. Usually if you adopt a cat through a shelter they come with fleas and a cold.
I used this clinic with my cats before I found better clinics with more up to date information.
The clinic is convenient, clean and the staff is nice enough, but they spend very little time with you and aren't very good at explaining things.
One of my kitties was here for severe flea allergies. Each time I went, nothing they gave me helped. I ended up spending a lot of money on nothing. Ultimately, it was my own research and ideas that helped my poor suffering cat.
Since then, I've found another clinic where I have not had the same problems. I found this place to be very run of the mill and really, you can get way better for your money.
Having had some really horrible flea control treatments with my pets, including nearly losing a kitty to an OTC product and my husband having humongous hives, I have gone to a natural flea control program.
However, last year, between the weather and that we foster a number of dogs for rescue, we were absolutely INFESTED. It was disgusting, they were everywhere.
I tried all my old tricks - vaccuuming all over, using diatomaceous earth and boric acid, bathing and flea combing the pets - and I only exhausted and frustrated myself without success.
I called Fleabusters and had them come out. They use a special boric acid treatment that is endorsed for carpets by DuPont. Its 100% safe and natural for pets and kids and really lasts.
The service man was very nice and pleasant to be around and was very helpful with explaining problem areas. He really worked hard too!
But the really great part....NO FLEAS! And that is even with new foster dogs bringing in new fleas.
We are moving soon, and will call Fleabusters asap to treat our new home!
Factoria Mall is pretty low-end food in my opinion but there is a hidden gem here. You wouldn't expect great sushi here in this tiny mall but, it is there!
O E She actually has rather decent seating and atmosphere for being inside this mall.
But what really matters is the quality and freshness of the food, and its there! It seems that the owner/head chef is actually a Master Fugu chef - quite an accomplishment!
The food is very well-priced and quick. Definately THE place to eat if you are in Factoria mall.
The 'big' game store has gone out of business, and now across the way at Crossroads, is a new game store. We were excited to see this as we love game stores, both for ourselves and for gift shopping, but we were really disappointed with this store. It lacks the fun in the old store, and did not at all have a good selection of the more unusual and quirky games. Really this wasn't much more than what you'd find at Target or similar.
I wanted a stretchy shirt embroidered for one-time wear, knowing that the embroidery wouldn't last. They were very accomodating, although expressed concern over the fabric and that it might not last. The funny thing is, it has stayed in perfect condition for several years!
The services are quick and reasonably priced, and in addition to embroidering items you bring in, they have a pretty big selection of items there with a lot of great ideas to help you choose a personalized gift.
I first bought Oililly for my niece while on a vacation in France. The clothes are so cute, they look like something straight out of a fashion magazine. I love the colors and the different fabrics. The quality is great too!
Now Oililly has come to us, at Bellevue Square. The prices are about the same as when I purchased in France, and the selection is even greater.
The staff at this store isn't pushy about sales and its fun to look at all the really unique clothes.
Its fun, Pacific Northwest food at reasonable prices, with good portions, in a nice but casual environment. I love the comfortable, casual but nice atmosphere and how they stress that they want people to feel like its a neighborhood place and they can come for dinner without having to dress up.
We love their happy hour because they have great appetizers and deals on them. We always get the calamari, and I love the jalapenos.
The ceviche salad is delicious as is, well just about everything on the menu!
I think this is especially a good place to take out of town guests, and we even had our wedding rehearsal dinner here!
We really love Tu Casa and hear the same from most ot the hispanics in the area - that this place is authentic, and the kitchen is clean!
We love the carne asada and my husband enjoys the chile colorado. One day I ordered the carne asada mixta that comes with these really delicious garlic prawns and I was hooked! They have often made me a dish of just the garlic prawns in that style, and its so good, I even eat the green peppers (which I hate normally!). My husband really loves the Mexican Flag dish.
They also have a REALLY great margarita called the Ultimate that is made with fresh lime juice. This is one of the best I've had since moving here from Arizona. The salsa is also very fresh and very flavorful.
Lately the tortillas haven't been as good - something we have brought up several times to the management but they seem confused.
The last two times we've ordered, the food hasn't been quite as good as we are used to, but its still pretty good.
