Carousel Cakes
The bakers at Carousel Cakes seem to outdo themselves at every opportunity. Their cakes are absolutely stunning. They have so many different shapes to choose from and the decorating on them is just amazing. Once you've chosen all the details of your cake, then comes the good part - eating it!! The cakes are so moist and fresh and the frostings are the best I've ever tasted. Do yourself a favor and buy a cake here for your next occasion (or make one up if you have to...Happy Friday is always a good excuse for an occasion.)
Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum
The Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum is unlike any other I've ever been to. Many museums are stuffy but this one is marvelous. There are so many beautiful depictions of wildlife all around in this stunning setting. You can spend the afternoon here with kids and you both will be enthralled. It's like a zoo but without the smell! Seriously, if you've got any interest in wild animals you will really enjoy looking at the paintings and exhibits here. A really unique experience.
Repeat Performance
You're sure to find some great deals at Repeat Performance. They have a wonderful selection of gently used clothing. You won't find torn and tattered items here. The staff carefully selects the items they will sell. Everything is displayed so nicely - not overly cluttered like to many used clothing stores. The prices are great and many of the items are really classic and don't look dated. It will take some time to look through everything but definitely worth your time.
The Chocolatier
Don't come to The Chocolatier when you're hungry - that could be dangerous, not to mention very expensive! This is a great spot to pick up a special and unique gift for just about anyone - who doesn't love chocolate. They have different types of chocolate, white , dark, and milk, and so many different shapes to choose from. This isn't the spot to buy your day to day candy but for a special occasion, the splurge is worth it and you'll make a great impression on the receiver.
Cardiology
How clever - cardeology! They have a wonderful selection of greeting cards here - not the same old ones you'll find at the chain stores. These are unique and have some really great sayings in them. I like to pick up a bunch of cares when I'm here so I won't have to run here everytime I have a need for one. They also have a great line of gift products to choose from and their prices aren't bad, especially considering they're on Manhattan's upper west side!
Cox George R Md
You can't ask for better care than you will get from Dr. George Cox. He's one of the few doctors out there that still have a good bedside manner. He will actually spend time with you and listen to your concerns and questions and will answer them for you. You won't feel like you're on an assembly line when you come to his office for a visit. You will be treated with great care and concern. He is thorough in his examinations and follow up questions and does all he can to help you feel better.
Alphabets
They have such fun stuff at Alphabets. You can pretty much find a gift for just about anyone on your gift list here. Their toys would make any child happy and they have trinkets and such that would bring a smile to an adult. They don't have your typical tourist stuff, but fun knick-knacks, key chains, and some pretty wall hangings. This is a fun spot to pick up unique gifts that can serve as party favors or if you need a gift for an office party this is the spot to shop.
Westwood Pets
The Westwood Pets Unlimited is a great place to pamper your pooch with some new toys or grooming supplies. They have the cutest toys here - my dogs love their rawhide chews as well. I've gotten some great dog shampoos here - nothing too fragrant but just light enough to make the dogs smell clean! The staff is friendly and they have some good clearance markdowns at times. This is a fun place to shop especially around the holidays when of course the pets need to be included in the festivities.
New York Golf Ctr Of Nanuet
Although I'm not a golfer myself, my uncle is quite an avid golfer. This is a great place to pick up a gift for him. He's very hard to buy for, but usually anything I pick up for him here goes over very well. The staff is great and quite kind to someone who knows next to nothing about the "sport". They've helped me to choose items that he would actually use and we both appreciate that. From what I can tell their prices are reasonable and they're located very conveniently on Middletown Rd.
Mamari Jewelers
I keep hearing their ad on local cable channels so I finally decided to stop in to Mamari Jewelers recently. They do have a very nice selection of jewelry to choose from - I really loved some of their sterling silver bracelets with different stones - but there really are no bargains to be found here. The staff is friendly and seems to be very knowledgeable about their products. This would be a good place to pick up an occasional gift but I would not make it my jewelers of choice.
