I was not very happy when my husband told me he was taking me to the "Farm Store". It just did not sound like something that would appeal to me. I dragged my feet and went with him, not knowing what to expect.
I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and entered the store. I was amazed at the selection of items they offered! It wasn't just the tools and rakes I was imagining! :) I was immediately in love with their gardening center, and found many other items of interest, including home improvement items, lawn decorations, and so much more as I actually spent some time browsing the store.
The employees were very friendly, immediately asking if we needed help in locating items. They continued being friendly throughout the entire process, even carrying our items to the car for us.
Overall, it was a pleasant shopping experience, and I would recommend other women to check it out as well!
PROS: Great selection, courteous staff
We had a horrible experience a few weeks ago, as I was shopping in Purcell when my car died. My husband was working and could not be reached, so I was unsure what to do. A lady at the store recommended I call Bacons Wrecker Service, so although I was hesitant, I decided to try.
They were very friendly from the moment they answered the phone. They made me feel at ease, even though I was alone while this was going on. They arrived quickly to tow my car, giving me a ride to the shop as they towed it.
They waited to make sure that my car would be fixed quickly and that I would have a way home. In my opinion, they went above and beyond in their wonderful service!
PROS: Polite, quick response
If you're looking for a weekend adventure, you should definitely make the short drive to Purcell to visit the Heart of Oklahoma Flea Market.
My family loves flea markets, and this is one of the best we have found in this area, based on variety of items available, pricing and quality of items for sale.
It's really cool, because they have so many different vendors selling different items, so I can fall in love with items at one booth, while my husband is counting out his cash at another! There is always something for every interest, including the kids!
Concessions are available as well.
Great fun, but take a stroller if you have very young children, as there is a lot of walking involved.
PROS: Quality, Variety and Prices
We are relatively new to the area, so when looking for a pharmacy, we opted to go with a small, locally owned business, as in the past, we have always been treated better at these types of establishments. True to our theory, Noble Pharmacy is a wonderful, small town establishment, where everyone is treated with courtesy and respect. They get to know their customers by name, and really take the time to look out for your family's best interest.
At Noble Pharmacy, you don't have to wait for long amounts of time to ask questions. They take the time to answer them for you. They explain how your medication works, as well as any precautions you should take. This is a luxury that I have found to be lacking in many of the larger chain pharmacies.
I really appreciate having one pharmacy to take care of my entire family. With Noble Pharmacy, I have pharmacists I trust.
PROS: Caring pharmacists
The Omniplex has long been a favorite place to visit for children in Oklahoma. I can remember visiting over fifteen years ago, as a child myself. The experience was fantastic and stayed with me as a treasured memory. Now, it is a place I love to visit with my own children. I have four children, ages 13 down to 5, and they all get excited when they know we will be visiting the Omniplex!
What makes the Omniplex so special is that they have so many displays that really reach out to children. The children can play with the displays and see why things work the way they do. So it's not only fun, it's very educational!
The price is about average, for what you would pay for a day of entertainment with your family, but you could stay at the Omniplex for days without getting bored!
If you're looking for a fun place to visit in Oklahoma City, be sure to add the Omniplex to your list!
PROS: Hands on displays to teach children!
Griffeth Chiropractic on W. Robinson is a wonderful place to go if you're hurt, or just need an adjustment. Dr. Griffeth is licensed in chiropractics, accupuncture, etc. , and is obviously very knowlegeable. He isn't one of those doctors that just wants to get you in there for your money. He takes the time to follow up with you. He explains what is going on in your body, and what is causing some of the symptoms. I love the way he takes the time to really talk to you to figure out the cause of your pain. You can reach him at his office if you have any questions or concerns, and they have late evening appointments available if you have a busy work schedule. All in all, no complaints!
PROS: Convenient hours, Takes time with you to explain and explore causes
The doctors at Norman Regional Hospital are really top notch in my book.
Unfortunately, my husband and I have chronic illnesses that put us in the hospital much too often. Because of this, we have been through the emergency room at Norman Regional on many occasions, and have seen most of the doctors there at one time or another!
There are many great things about this hospital. First, the wait time is not long at all. They really do get you back quickly, almost every time. Second, the nurses are wonderful, although I think nurses are wonderful everywhere! But the doctors at Norman Regional really deserve some credit. With the exception of one doctor, we have been pleased with the care from every one of them. They take the time to really listen to your complaints. They don't blow off tests, they are very thorough. They make sure that you have proper follow up care scheduled, and that you have clear instructions on how to care for your injury after you leave the hospital.
Another thing that really stands out about Norman Regional Hospital is that they follow up with their patients to see if they administered satisfactory care. I have always been pleased with their following up. That is a service not found in many hospitals these days. I think they deserve some praise for that.
PROS: Waiting time is short, thorough exams and treatment
We were looking for a way to get our sons involved in some extracurricular activities, when we came across a coupon for a trial membership at Victory Martial Arts. We were a bit hesitant, as we weren't sure our boys would be as enthusiastic about the idea as we were.
When we went for the initial visit, our worries were eliminated. The instructors immediately made both or our sons feel completely comfortable, which is saying a lot, as they are both normally very shy.
We enrolled the boys, and within a week, they were already beginning to master the beginning stances and kicks. We were able to observe the classes, which impressed me that much more. All of the instructors, although they teach adults as well, seem like they were born to work with children! Their attitudes and enthusiasm quickly got the children excited about learning.
Another thing that really impressed me is their emphasis on doing well in school and being courteous to others in their everyday life.
The only downside is that their prices are pretty high, and a family with an average income would have to struggle to pay the monthly fees.
PROS: Enthusiastic teachers, focus on courtousy in everyday life
I have had severe back problems for close to five years. I have been seeing doctors, who did nothing to correct the problem. Two months ago, I started seeing Dr. Berry and Dr. Meyer with Surgery Center of Midwest City. These two doctors have given me more hope in this short two months, than any doctor in the past five years.
I have been in for three outpatient injections at the Surgery Center. They are a little slow in getting you back, but that is the only downside. When they call you back, the nursing staff is wonderful. They get you comfortable, and the doctor comes in to speak with you to explain the procedure you will be having.
After you speak with the doctor, you are taken to the procedure room, where the anesthiologist is waiting, and makes sure that you are comfortable for your procedure... as comfortable as possible, as these hurt!
Next, you are taken to recovery. Again, the nursing staff is wonderful. They make sure you are ready before they send you home. If you have pain or concerns, they will bring the doctor in to address them.
All in all, I really don't think I would want to go anywhere else for my outpatient procedures in this area.
PROS: Wonderful, caring staff. They quickly address your needs.
CONS: Lengthy wait time in the waiting area
Recently, I decided I wanted to move to Norman, Ok. I wanted to take some time to select the home I wanted, so first, I looked for something temporary and inexpensive.
In the Norman area, it's not easy to find any inexpensive housing! I looked at some places that were more expensive, and less habitable, before finally finding the Thunderbird Lodge.
I was pleased from the beginning. The Thunderbird Lodge is a landmark in Norman, OK, home of the Oklahoma Sooners. It is situated on a very scenic lot, complete with lots of trees, gazebos and a nice pool.
Upon arrival, I found the employees to be very pleasant and courteous. The rooms were very nice, and more than affordable. I was able to rent a room, complete with a kitchenette, for $499 per month, and be in a nice, secure environment.
Another bonus is their location. They are about a mile and a half from the OU campus, a big plus for OU football fans and students alike! It is also near many restaraunts, stores and gas stations, so you don't have to travel far for whatever you may be needing.
PROS: Great location, fabulous prices, nice setting
