Hagens House of Clocks is a kick to visit...and if you have the interest in purchasing an antique clock, it is a gold mine. The clocks, especially the grandfather clocks, are spectacular and each unique. I have never seen such a wide variety. For a unusual gift, if you have a larger budget, you can't go wrong. I would visit again, just to explore and appreciate the craftsmanship.
I have lived in the Waterview Apartments for 2 years now. My husband and I have enjoyed our quiet apartment, nice neighbors, and pretty view of the Carquinez Strait. But the current apartment management has left a sour taste. They are not communicative - we leave messages but do not get responses. They changed the key on the storage unit door and didn't give it to anyone! And they broke the padlocks off every storage cupboard, supposedly to clean out the ones that had been abandoned. But we called to specify that ours was in use...and still found our lock broken off. So just be prepared for some annoyances...only our beautiful view and the hassle of moving keep us planted.
My workplace has used America Printing for years and appreciates their service. We work with the same employee, who knows us and understands our needs. Orders are easy to call in and timely quotes, proofs, and product delivery is impressive. America Printing strives to satisfy and gives annual holiday gifts to its committed customers. We have had occasion print job problems but America Printing will rectify or offer a discount if appropriate. A solid company.
If you are looking to purchase gifts but want to know that the laborers got paid a fair wage, this is your store. Global Exchange is committed to working on peace and justice issues and their gift store is a great example. Gifts are very unique and from all over the world. The price range varies to most budgets. It is nice to visit here and know you are supporting fair trade with each purchase.
Nano was my wedding photographer in 2003 and I would highly recommend her! She has years of experience and a wonderful, relaxed personality. Her albums are breathtaking - by far the most beautiful I've seen. She is not cheap but comparable to other Bay Area wedding photographers. And worth the price! I have also seen baby and child photographs she has taken - gorgeous! You can't go wrong with Nano!
I use Avery Greene Motors for their service department, generally getting oil changes there. I have never been to such a busy dealership...and that is not a good thing. You have to call about a week in advance to get a weekend appointment. Don't even think of showing up the day you want the service without an appointment! The price is fine and the donuts are free. But if you have another auto repair option, you are probably better off.
Amoeba Records, a huge used music store in the Haight district of San Francisco, is worth the visit. It is the "Costco" of music stores, a veritable warehouse of CD's with the possibility of finding a treasure. But you have to be ready to browse...this store is not for those looking to get in and out in 10 minutes. Prices are good, trade in's accepted, and the store fits well with the funky feeling of the Haight. Enjoy!
Bookshop Benicia is the small town, local business that you'll love to support. They have an attractive display of books that regularly changes for the seasons and holidays. The friendly staff is also happy to order anything you might want that they don't currently have in stock. This book store obviously values their customers.
I recently went to the Gallery of Jewels with a friend visiting
from L.A. for the second time. This is my friend's favorite SF
shopping stop. Very unique selection from local artisans.
We hit a sale and couldn't pass up the opportunity to get
something one-of-a-kind for a great price. Very helpful sales
staff! And located in a great area - Union Street - for more
shopping and good restaurants.
I've gone to Dr. Growney since I moved to San Francisco in 1998.
Very helpful staff and caring dentist. Have taken my insurance
and if any problems arise with the insurance company, the office
will handle it for me. Wouldn't dream of going to anyone else.
