Not the fanciest looking place but I've had nothing but the best service here. Good prices, fast turnaround, and the owner (Matthew) is so friendly and helpful.
The Cake Collection did our wedding cakes. We wanted a unique groom's cake and they said they could do a football one with our favorite team's logo.
We expected a sheet cake shaped like a football for some reason, but when we entered our reception we saw a 3-D cake shaped like a helmet! Everyone loved it!
Oh, and the staff are great. Very friendly and helpful during the tasting.
If you like bath products that smell like fruit, this place is for you. It's a happy, colorful vibrant store with a wide selection of soaps, bath bombs, lotions, shampoos, etc etc. I'd buy one of everything if only I could.
Offbeat store with good selection of vinyl and used CD's. Also sells DVD's shirts, collectibles. Prices are a bit expensive for the new CD's, but i'd still rather go here than to a retail chain store.
I've been going to Lauren T. at Marina Beach Hair for a few years now and couldn't be happier. She really takes her time with the cut and always does exactly what i request. Price range is $50 range for a woman's haircut, which seemed steep at first because I used to hit up the $10 salons.
Then again, those cheapie salons used to send me home in tears or rage half the time :)
I always leave MBH happy so it's worth every penny.
Pro: driver was on time.
Cons: driver had a tendency to swerve. Also, at the end of the trip, she whips out a credit card machine and proceeds to ring up the charge on the hood of the limo. But first she uses a walkie talkie to discuss the total cost, very loudly, with someone back at the office.
Which wouldn't have been such a big deal, if i hadn't, oh... just GOTTEN MARRIED. Word of advice: don't leave a bride and groom standing outside their reception hall while you dicker about their bill via loudspeaker.
Wrote the owner about this afterwards and got no response. Classy.
I shouldn't be surprised, considering the location. Does decent work but isn't especially fast and the prices are exorbitant. Their billing practices aren't particularly clear, either, and the billing person isn't particularly friendly.
Definitely check your receipt after picking up your clothes.
I first came to Leaf Automotive after a fancy Brentwood gas station claimed that my car was failing a smog test (estimated repairs, they said, were "up to $700!) William Leaf fixed the problem for $50. I now bring all my cars there.
I've never had to leave the car overnight; repairs are done the same day. If i need to bring the car in last minute, they're always accommodating. I brought my car in a couple of times, thinking it needed a certain part or repair. Turns out, the car was fine... and Leaf's guys told me so, rather than charge me for something i didn't need.
I've been a member of numerous gyms over the years and my least favorite part of joining was the high pressure sales pitches when signing up. 24 Hour Fitness is the first club that didn't do this; they just let me have my two week free trial without constantly getting in my face. A pleasant surprise.
As for the gym itself, it's got the standard equipment -- treadmills, ellipticals, bikes etc -- though i wouldn't call the facility state of the art. The equipment is generally well maintained, but the pool seems to be closed a lot for repairs. There generally are lines to use the cardio machines during peak hours (Sat/Sun mornings, weekdays after 5) so it's better if you can avoid those times.
Clientele are "regular" everyday people. All ages, all sizes. Definitely not populated with beautiful people like, for example, the Equinox in W. Hollywood, which looks like a nightclub.
Monthly membership fee isn't that bad (it can be a bit cheaper if you sign up online) but like everyone else, they charge the one-time processing fee.
