Break Water Brewing Co
As close to Germany as you can get without saying "dunke!"
Real German bratwurst and garlic sausage, spicy Russian mustard to top off the taste of Deutschland! For die-hard Yanks, there's the traditional "hot" dog and kids meal. Cool, diner-style atmosphere, beautiful location by the sea
PROS: Authentic European Weiners! Beautiful Location
CONS: NONE
El Camino preschool
The first thing you notice is that this place doesn't smell like a pre-school. The warm scent of the pine and eucalyptus trees is as welcoming as the smiles on the faces of the teachers. Three age groups are represented and the price is exceptional. Located in the beautiful Fire Mountain area of Oceanside, El Camino is the pre school of choice for our family. Best of all, if your child doesn't nap...they can be put on the list of "non nappers" and taken outside to play or to a different classroom until naptime is over!
PROS: Beautiful, clean, upscale neighborhood-NOT upscale tuition fees
CONS: NONE
Men's Wearhouse
My husband had some very specific ideas in mind when he went on the hunt for a suit that didn't look, "too stuffy." Not one to ever be tied down to a cubicle, he needed something that was true to his "artistic" side, but classy and suitable for job interviews. Our floor rep must have had his nose in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, because he put together an ensemble that screamed "Rock star turned computer geek!"
The on-site tailor had made the perfect fit for my husband within fifteen minutes. This will be our one and only place to dress up hubby for any event.
PROS: Up To Date "Individualized" Fashion Advice
CONS: NONE
Real Surf Shop
This owner-operated "little yellow house" feels like you've just stepped into the Big Kahuna's closet. Lots of specialty items can be ordered here (smaller sized wetsuits, custom made surfboards). Owner knows all the best surf spots and can provide useful info on surf lessons, surf schools, and what's happening on the "surfing scene". Atmosphere is rustic, from the beginner boogey boarder to the hard core surfer. This place has it all.
PROS: Friendly, Helpful Service. Big Selection
CONS: none
Ralphs
Although Ralphs prices are little high and I'm not especially fond of any place that requires a card for discounts, the bakery here is one of my favorites. There is fresh coffee in the morning (and right by the entrance door) a shopping MUST for tired moms or anyone who needs a little motivation to search for sale items!
PROS: Great Bakery, Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!
CONS: Need a Club Card to recieve discounts
Pier View Market & Spirits
Any kind of drink or snack. Full stock of emergency cosmetic items (though very expensive). A popular place for skaters from the local skatepark to grab some "grub" after a few grinds. Excellent service. Alex is one of the cashiers who calls his customers by name. Short a few cents on your purchase? If your a regular, and you have a good smile, they'll let it slide. A big burly guy keeps watch by the door in the late evening hours to keep away the "unsavory" characters.
PROS: Chashiers are always in a good mood
CONS: none
Regal Cinemas Oceanside 16
The newest releases. Clean isles and comfy seats. Large handicap area for wheelchairs, scooters or for those of us with long legs who need to stretch. Best view outside. Check out the beach scene while you wait for show to begin or sit in the gorgeous outside plaza and enjoy a coffee or snack from one of the many plaza restaurants. In the summer, parking can be a bit of a problem.
PROS: Lots of things to do while you wait for show to begin
CONS: limited parking
Inner World Gifts
From the pretty fairy candle holders, to the ultra bizarre wall decor, Inner World has something for everyone. Their prices are reasonable and their stock is full of memorabilia you thought was long forgotten. Remember your old Iron Maiden shirt? You can find it here. ATM in the store. Cashiers are friendly. Lot's of flyers for local bands and upcoming events.
PROS: Tons of Cool Stuff, Friendly Staff, Hard-to Find T-shirts
CONS: Store is small. Forget bringing the baby stroller
The Sports Authority
Lots of sporting equipment, not as many helpful people. Two CSR's had a very difficult time explaining just about everything on the subject of biking. Not as much biking equipment or cycling gear as a bike specialty store.
PROS: Big, clean, lots of stuff for aquatics
CONS: Not real helpful on the subject of bikes
T Mobile-Direct Dealer
Although I would highly recommend T-Mobile as a cellular provider, this dealer has the worst customer service I've ever seen! Basically just a bunch of kids working there who spent most of their time talking about so and so's party while I waited on hold MYSELF to speak to a supervisor about my bill.
PROS: NONE
CONS: The Snot Nosed Little Brats at The Front Counter
