I began my relationship with the Hayes family several years ago when I decided to purchase my 1st sewing machine, the Elna Heirloom model. Hayes Sewing is the area distributor for Elna, Bernina and Babylock - the shop is staffed by Mr. and Mrs. Hayes and their daughters, all very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about their trade. They have a roomy, well stocked store and are happy to sit down, demonstrate models or help you work out bugs. Highly recommended!
Dr. Turk is wonderful, friendly, personable and makes my children feel at ease although his practise isn't limited to children. His wife serves as his receptionist and together they make a great team. He has no problem allowing parents to stay with their children during exams and his office is clean, pleasant and bright.
Both Dr. T. and his wife do have very distinct accents and can be a little difficult to understand at times, but they're very patient with me when I ask them to please repeat something. ;-)
PROS: Accepts most dental plans
We're planning a basement remodel and wanted to get several estimates, It's amazing how many of the companies and individuals we phoned never even returned our calls, but we're glad that R.C. Hellings company did. They're professional, fast and courteous. They were by far the most thorough and knowledgeable of all the contractors that were kind enough to give us estimates and the examples they provided of their work are beautiful! They drew up a detailed and comprehensive (and reasonable!) estimate and even worked with us to revise the project to bring it within our budget. We're still trying to secure the financing for the job but when we do we'll definitely be hiring RCH.
My children have been dancing at the McHugh school for almost 2 years now and we've all had a wonderful time! Sisters Tara and Sheila and their staff provide excellent instruction and the school has a friendly parents organization that keeps everyone informed and in touch. Participation in competitions is encouraged, but there is no stress or pressure and politics as with some schools. The school currently offers classes in 4 locations and is organizing their first feis, planned for February, 2006.
Mandy does an amazing job with our neurotic and hyperactive 60 lb. Golden Retriever. Belle is like most goldens, lots of energy and lots of hair. Additionally Belle does not especially LIKE to be groomed, making caring for her coat a special challenge. She always comes home from Doggie Style looking and smelling WONDERFUL! Mandy does not tranquilize pets, which was an important consideration for us. She seldom takes scissors or clippers to Belle's fur, but when she does need to trim an area you can't tell the fur has been cut, it simply looks perfect. She charges a little more than what you might pay at a pet store, vet, or large grooming chain but the results are well worth it!
Dr. Egan is absolutely fantastic. I'd struggled with acne as a teenager and it never completely went away when I reached adulthood. I'd seen several doctors over the years who treated it more as a nuisance than as an actual problem. Dr. Egan understands how scarring, physically and emotionally, this "nuisance" can be. She is warm and caring and very up to date on the latest medications & treatments and she will explore different treatment options until the problem is "cured"!
She has an excellent staff too!
CONS: Very popular doctor, be prepared to wait a while for an appointment.
We had just relocated to the area and weren't at all familiar with the local medical resources when we discovered that our little guy was on the way. :-) We scrambled to choose a midwife and as she only had delivery privileges at one local hospital that decision was made for us. We couldn't have been more pleased! The staff at Riddle were warm and friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, the rooms were bright, cheerful and comfortable and baby & mommy received excellent care. Even the billing and insurance was handled quickly and efficiently.
A Garden of Yarn is a sweet little shop nestled amongst an entire little village of sweet little shops! They sell every kind of yarn imaginable, from high fashion new twists that dazzle you when you first walk in the door to sweet soft pastel baby yarns tucked away in their own little room toward the back. The ladies are friendly and incredibly knowledgable and very helpful and they offer classes to get you creating in no time! Excellent "technical support" is offered here, when you become a customer and purchase yarn or pattern you can drop back in with your project and the ladies will help you with any questions or problems. A treasure!
My almost-two-year old princess, Chloe, and I have been attending Gymboree classes since Chloe was about 6 months old. We LOVE them and they're the highlight of our week. :-) The "baby gym" atmosphere and lightly structured activities have given Chloe opportunities to grow and climb and explore and play in ways that she simply can't do at home and we've both enjoyed the interaction with other children and mommies. We're now taking music classes and they're really encouraging Chlo's love of music. The teachers are all talented and enthusiastic, there's a sort of "family" atmosphere that develops when you become a member. Oodles of fun for anyone with little ones!
As a health-concious mom I have always believed in feeding my family natural, whole, and wherever possible, organic foods but supermarket prices made eating well virtually impossible. I'm SO GLAD I discovered Trader Joes! They carry everything from organic yoghurt to whole grain breads, rolls, pitas and bagels - all free of genetic modifications, pesticides, additives and high prices. The atmosphere is pleasant and the employees are the most friendly, happy people you'd ever want to meet. Grocery shopping is a PLEASURE now - I can't recommend this place highly enough.
