On a recent trip to St. Pete I stayed at the Bayview Plaza resort, mainly because it was one of the only places along the beach that allowed pets. In addition to getting off-season rates, the place was clean and had small kitchen. The catch - the pool, internet and beach access were up the road at the main hotel. All in all, though, I would stay there again.
PROS: Clean room, reasonable rates
CONS: Pool and internet at main facility
This cute bakey is a great place to sit and nosh or to just grab a bite and run. They have a good selection of breads and cakes, though the slection can be limited to some chocolate hazelnut combination. If nothing else try their orange poppyseed bread - it's great for breakfast.
PROS: Free coffee on Mondays
CONS: Some may find their selection limited.
Though the outward appearance of Simon's may indicate that it is some dive bar, it's so much fun, especially in the winter. When Hopleaf if overflowing walk down to Simon's, it's a small local bar with decent prices and a cozy atmosphere and in the winter you can get Glog, a traditional Swedish drink.
PROS: Fun bar
CONS: Can be smoky and the seating is limited.
Only use this place if you have to. While they are equipped with multiple computing stations and very nice staff, the computers and internet is often very slow. In fact, it makes the computers at an old public school with dial-up look like good prospects for getting work done. Also, the setup is nice, but not very private so be prepared for people looking over your shoulder.
PROS: A lot of computers and work stations
CONS: Slow connections and internet configurations don't work with all websites.
This new branch of Bank One is staffed with very polite people and the hours are great. Though the banking stations can be confusing, once you figure out where you fill out the forms and where you speak to a banker the experience will be quite satisfying. Did I mention the hours? Their main lobby is open until 7:00pm on Friday, which is always great is if you need to make a quick deposit or withdrawl before you go out.
If your pooch needs a bath, this is a great place to take them. Located in the quaint Andersonville neighborhood, you can leave your dog while you do some window shopping. Or, ir you prefer to wash your dog yourself they have self-washing stations. If your dog is friendly with other dogs, this doggy boutique is especially great as the owner's two dogs are often loose and always playful.
PROS: The owner and her dogs are very friendly and accommodating.
More than just a hair place, this cute salon in Andersonville is a place to get pampered. While a little on the pricey side, the money is well worth it. Not only do they have tasty treats and flavored water the stylists really know how to make a person look good.
PROS: Great hair cuts and one of the best places to get a manicure
CONS: A little pricey and their pedicure stations don't have heated water.
