Don't pass up this location. They have been around for a very long time and there is a reason for that - customer service and pricing. Very very helpful and friendly to do business with. Would definately recommend.

Clean Sweep Chimney

Moving into out new house I wanted the chimnew cleaned right away. I asked around and heard good things about Clean Sweep. I gave them a call and they are very professional and friendly. They told me exactly what they were doing and why. In the end they found a little patch of Santa Claus' pants that got hooked up the chimney that they gave to my daughter :)

Lake County Public Library, Highland Branch

Highland has a nice down home feel to their downtown area where the library is. The library isn't huge but you can find books at any of the Lake County branches on the computer and have them sent to this branch. Librarians are very friendly and they have some great summer programs for the kids.

Midwest Midways Carnival

I was recently at a carnival in Highland, IN over the July 4th holiday. They have this carnival every year but this was the first time I noticed Midwest taking care of the rides. I went to put my son on an airplane ride and the seat belt broke as I was trying to fasten it. That was enough for me to get him out of there. The next night a boy was killed while on a ride. The inspectors did come out and couldn't find fault in the ride, but it is very eerie just to think about it.

Gyros King

Gyros King is one of the best gyros restaurants in NW Indiana. If you get the platter it is big enough to make 4 sandwiches and probably still have some left. Very inexpensive and great fries.

Seminary Co-Op Bookstore

OH MY! That's the first thing that went through my mind when I first walked in. I am an avid book reader, I love books and this has become my new home for books. You just have to go to get the experience of it.

Duke Of Oil

Duke of Oil is a pretty quick oil change. They are a bit pricier but the last time I checked they take competitors coupons as well as their own. In and out with a good oil change.

Walking into the office is like stepping back into the 70's or 80's. Needs some updating definately. His receptionist isn't very accomodating. But if you can get past the decor and her then you'll be ok, he's pretty straightforward and doesn't have a heavy hand.

Mitsos Michael Dds

Dr. Mitsos is a very good dentist. All of the employees I came in contact with are very nice as well. Considering I gave him the highest rating does say something for him because I DO NOT like going to the dentist.

Gavit Mdl High School

I only have experience with the middle school but they are connected. I suppose though for Hammond this would be probably the best school which isn't saying much for their school system. I moved out of Hammond specifically because of their schoosl.

My daughter received straight A's but considering most kids were below average and the work wasn't very hard that isn't a very good reflection on the school. All of her instructors were very nice and you can't blame them, they can only do so much. But they always commented to me what a pleasure my daughter was to have in class and they wish more kids were as polite. School or parents? That's a tough decision on who to blame but I think it should be both because you can't have a good school unless children want to learn and have manners but they also can't learn if teachers aren't willing to challenge them.
