Had seen Dr. Chaney while in the hospital as he was the emergency room physician on call. So had an appointment for a follow-up after being released from the hospital. There is absolutely no parking, the office is rather cramped and they wouldn't even accept Anthem Blue Cross which is a widely known health insrance provider. I was told we could pay the bill and then Blue Cross could reimburse us....needless to say we left without being seen.
This paper is published weekly, hitting the newstands on Wednesday and is .50. It is the only newspaper in Perry County. The staff at the Herald are super!! (They also help with The Shopper Stopper.) I have really enjoyed the expanded coverage they recently strated by showing more pictures, arrests, car accidents etc. I look forward to recieving this paper each week.
This is a free weekly publication distributed throughout several surrounding counties. In my personal oppinion it has went down considerably in the last few years. The staff at the local Hazard office is great, you can't get any better service. However I think it changed ownership a few years ago and it no longer seems as beneficial to Perry countians as it does to Floyd & Pike Counties. I still enjoy receiving this and if you need to place an ad it will be sure to be seen by many people.
I receive this home delivered every day. I enjoy reading what is happening in the surrounding counties and statewide. In my opinion this paper can sometimes be a little biased in it's reportings. They also have a website where you can view the articles. The price at the newstand is .50 daily and 1.75 on Sunday. The Sunday paper has coupons and TV guide section which really makes it worthwhile. Overall I am satisfied as I have been getting this paper delivered for the past few years.
A subscription to The Troublesome Creek Times is a must if you have ever lived in Knott County and moved away as it keeps you in touch with the happenings of the county. This paper is not like a lot of papers that are biased. They are very professional in their reporting. I moved away 20 years ago after going to grade school and high school in Knott County and I have received the weekly newspaper every week since moving. I also give gift subscriptions to my sister and Dad that no longer live in Knott County. We are all very pleased with this hometown newspaper.
My first impression when entering is turn around and RUN !!
This is a very difficult place to visit, especially if you like animals. The staff (which is definately shorthanded) can not supply the attention that these animals need. The smell is overwhelming, especially with it being so overcrowded and hot. I don't mean to sound negative, there is only so much that one or two people can do. The animals are provided for and not neglected, they just need a little TLC. This is the best place to adopt an animal. Be prepared to take one home with you because it will break your heart to leave!!!
The establishment is very small...(along with the parking) but this is a place where you feel very comfortable . The atmosphere is great. Service tends to be a lttle slow, but the waiters/waitresses are very friendly. Food isn't even that great and the prices are a little on the high side but again you don't even notice as you are really relaxing and enjoying yourself.
The Hazard ARH could use a major over haul. The saying "don't judge a book by its cover" . Upon arriving at the hospital, you will have a difficult time locating a parking spot as they have absolutely no parking. the outside appearance is fine, but once inside is a different story. They have no one at the front to offer assistance in locating a patients room. Then when you go to the 2 elevators 1 will generally have an out of order sign on it. The lobbies are not appealing at all and the patients rooms are in need of an extensive make over. I do however feel that they have some very caring employees. The food is decent and they have a great little gift shop
CONS: No Parking
This location is hard to get in and out of. They do have a car wash on the premises. The gas prices are very competitive. The employees are not as friendly as you might find in other businesses. They offer a customer reward card to earn discounts. Unless it is an advertised special (which they run month long) they are pretty high priced.
This is a one stop shop. The services they offer in addition to gasoline is selling lottery tickets, money orders, calling cards and pre paid gift cards. They have a unique selection of specialties that include Krispy Kreme Donuts & Capachino, they also have a Lees Famous Recipe inside of their building. The only downfall of this location is the difficulty of getting in and out of the parking lot.
