This is a picturesque inn with delightful rooms in a lovely small town in Wisconsin. The staff is very helpful and the setting is calming and gorgeous.
PROS: gorgeous rooms
CONS: no food to speak of
I grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia and have many fond memories of Stone Mountain park. There are a wide variety of activities and facilities available at the park. From museums to picnics to swimming to climbing or taking the cable car up the mountain, there is something for everybody. And they are the best place to go in Atlanta for the 4th of July fireworks.
The inexpensive Chicago Bontanic Garden is a great place for a stroll. They have a variety of landscapes spread out over many acres. Additionally, they boast interesting indoor facilities as well as educational talks and tours. The have an anti-picnic policy, which is unfortunate, but the gardens are a great place to spend a sunny afternoon.
Brookfield is an amazing zoo. In addition to an impressive collection of animals, they also house them in an astounding array of habitats. You don't just walk by the same cage or open area again and again. At brookfield, you really get a better sense of the animals natural habitat as you visit each exhibit.
It's also the cleanest zoo I've been to (which is impressive, given the number of visitors they get). That fact also makes it one of the more kid-friendly zoos I've been to.
PROS: Excellent exhibits
CONS: a little pricey
If you are looking for top 40 pop music, go find a Barnes & Noble. If you're looking for slightly wider range of things to listen to, Amoeba is where you need to go. they have an impressive collection of just about every style (e.g. Ska, Electronica, Jazz, etc.) on vinyl, CD, and DVD. They'll even buy your old stuff from you (beware: they don't buy the crap --- only the good stuff).
PROS: incredible selection
OK, so its not exactly an impressive looking bookstore, but where Unabridged misses on style, they make up for in substance. There is a great deal of quality, reasonably priced literature on their shelves.
Sometimes the organization is a bit lacking, but if you don't enjoy spending a few extra minutes browsing, you will almost always be pleasantly surprised with something you find here.
Anyone faced with the problem of finding reliable childcare knows the wide variety of quality in the pre-school market. That is what makes First Steps (now called Bright Start) such a find. Their facilities & equipment are impressive, but ultimately what sets it apart is an incredibly loving staff. I feel very fortunate that I have childcare that keeps me from worrying about my daughter's welfare on a day to day basis.
They are very communicative of the day to day activities your child enjoys, as well as if any problems occur. To top it off, their rates are far below the top of the market range. I was surprised to see such high quality care at such reasonable prices.
PROS: An excellent staff.
They guys at Ashland Tire have taken care of several of our cars over the years. I have been consistently impressed by their knowledge & integrity. I have never felt as if they were trying to sell me repairs I didn't need. My cars have also run better under their care than any other cars I've owned. These guys are quick, reasonably priced, and as honest as they come.
PROS: Reliable service, good prices, honest mechanical diagnoses.
CONS: None whatsoever
Dr. Carver removed my wisdom teeth, and I'm glad he did. After hearing horror stories from my friend's experiences with oral surgery, I realized how lucky I was to have a skilled practitioner who took care of business with no muss & no fuss. Calls for aftercare were answered promptly and helpfully.
Dr. Starr is a top notch dental professional. He and his staff took care of my smile for more than ten years. I never waited more than five minutes to get into "the chair" and once inside the office, I was handled professionally at every turn. In addition to being a skilled dentist, Dr. Starr is also a nice guy (which can help alot when you have to go in for a root canal).
