I have been to Aziz several times, and the thing that brings me back is their amazing shampoos. You enter a candlelit room where you lie back and listen to beautiful soft music while someone with magic hands gives your head a massage/shampoo for ten to fifteen minutes. The haircuts aren't bad either. I had my hair done here for my wedding, and the hairdresser was very receptive to my ideas and was able to implement them. I also received a day pass to this spa as a gift, and I was very pleased. You can get a better manicure somewhere else, but you can't beat Aziz for their customer service.
I can't believe that I am so enamoured of a 7-11, but this one always has their coffee pots full, and a wide variety of syrups and other yummy but unhealthy things to add to your cup of joe. You can toast your bagel and get complementary cream cheese. The pastrys here are not bad for a convenience store. I have been going here for over three years, and the individuals who work there are great folks. They always say hi to you and give you the feeling that it is a neighborhood store, rather than a small piece of a giant corporation. The coffee is really excellent as well!
If you want to hop on a machine and get your workout on, this is a great place to do so. Beware of rush hour after work, however, when your favorite machine may be scarce. They also have many Nautilus machines and a free weights area. Several classes, including Pilates are offered. The dressing rooms are neat and clean. The sales staff will put the pressure on, and once you sign that contract, the company will make you jump through hoops to get out of it. It's a good deal if you will be one of the individuals who actually go after they sign up.
Although many of the pieces of jewelry are quite lovely, I will not frequent this kiosk again after purchasing a pair of earrings of which one immediately broke. They took the earring to repair it, lost it, and then claimed that they never had it in the first place. I'm not sure which is worse, a broken earring or a stolen one, which is what the experience felt like. There are plenty of other silver merchants in town who can sell you a more quality piece and who will not lose your jewelry or paperwork. The service here was also not friendly. They treated me as though it was my fault that I had the problem with the jewelry. Overall, my experience with them has not been positive.
The clippers broke, and I didn't want to spend $80 to have my Chow shaved for the summer. Thank goodness for the Dirty Dog! They offer you a space and some nice sharp clippers, and you can shave your dog yourself for the price of a pizza! Not only do you get a good pair of shavers to use, but they will even clean up the mess for you! They carry products made by locals, and also offer dog bathing as well. They are helpful, and don't mind chatting and answering a few questions. You'll get a good vibe at Dirty Dog.
These folks are friendly, and carry a selection of the finest pet food that can be found. I am so glad that they exist, because the only other store that carries the brand of dog food that my pooch eats is on the other side of town. They have frequent customer cards, and you can earn a free bag of dog food after you buy a certain amount. The back room is devoted to fish, and beautiful fish they are. It is worth the trip just to take a look. Also, the guys at the store will always carry your 50 pound bag of dog food to your car. I have been going to Rivers and Reefs for more than five years now, and never once have I had a disappointing experience. They rock.
No complaints here. It is pretty much what you would expect from a huge store, but it has a friendly ambience that is unusual for a store of its size. I have yet to encounter a cashier who was not friendly, and the folks in the fish department are always helpful. I also really like that they let you bring your dog into the store and help out the animal shelter by offering their site as an adoption center on certain days. Also, with grooming available, it is a one-stop shop.
Having lived directly behind Herpeton with a small child for approximately two years, I can attest to the fact that the folks at Herpeton are among the most patient on earth. Unable to leave my house without my son insisting that we visit the store, we primarily used the store as a daily museum. The staff were always happy to let my son hold the snakes, and will even let you feed the snakes on occasion. There are lots of other reptiles as well. I love these folks for putting up with us for two years when all I ever purchased was a bag of sand for our hermit crab.
This is the only vet in town that I will go to. The folks there really care about animals, and have repaired two legs on my accident prone cat. They charge reasonable prices, and take your concerns about your animals seriously. Once you go to this veterinary clinic, you will wonder why you ever went anywhere else. Not that they need the business. They have a bustling practice, and a broad base of knowledge. When you leave an animal in their care, you know that your pet will be well taken care of.
Elegant it is not. However, the folks at Yard Dog make a person feel welcome and comfortable. They enjoy answering questions about the artists and their artwork. Something amazing is always on display. They have a few things for sale. You can buy a Yard Dog t-shirt or perhaps even a purse made out of bottle caps. I brought some kids here on a field trip once and was made to feel more than welcome. I'm glad that Austin has a gallery like Yard Dog. It's my kind of space.
