I went in Kid to Kid a few times and wasn't very impressed. I think that we need more kids consignment shops around. I know a lot of people who need to shop on a tight budget, however, I feel this store has a lot of unused space. It's a good sized store, but it relatively empty and each time that I have shopped there I could not find what I was looking for. There wasn't anything special in their toy department and the racks for boys 4 and up were pretty empty. The clothes that were there were mostly basic items.
PROS: Budget-friendly; baby items.
CONS: Not a lot to offer bigger kids.
One of the best things about being a part of a small town school, like Baker Elementary is that everyone knows everyone. The teachers take an active part in the education of the your child and they really get to know the entire family. The teachers are excellent and have a high commitment level to the students.
Class sizes are relatively small because there aren't a lot of kids in the school, but that makes teaching and learning a little easier.
As part of the Huron Valley School district, it ranks high as a quality elementary school.
PROS: Small classes and good teachers.
Pump It Up is a party place that also has open gym time on select days. the gist of it is you are assigned a room, you enter and take off your shoes and there are about 4-5 large blown up structures in the room. You bounce on them. Period. That's all there is.
Some people swear by the place and say it is a good place for their kids to burn off some energy, but I prefer to save my money and take them to the park. My kids were sacred to go on at first and then they were bored within minuted. It was not worth the money we paid to get in.
My advice would be to know your child and how they are going to react before going in. If they like trampolines and can do that type of activity for an hour, they may really enjoy it.
PROS: Rainy day activity.
Pepino's is a little-known spot in Walled Lake that is right off of the lake. They are open only during dinner hours and have a small dining room, but they offer a nice menu and very tasty food.
They have recently undergone a face lift. The building looks better, though I haven't been in recently to see if they updated the dining room as well.
I would return because it was something different and the food was good.
PROS: Good food; great location.
CONS: Small dining room.
I was really impressed with a tour of The Little Hornbrook Day school. They are well-organized, clean, well-satisfied, etc.
They have a nice building that is a good mix of classic and modern day cares. It doesn't have the cold, corporate feel of the chain day cares and doesn't have the feel of a start-up like some independent day cares have.
The tour guide was neatly dressed, professional and friendly.
I would feel comfortable sending my child to this child care center.
PROS: A good mix of traditional and modern day cares.
Though Dunkin Donuts does have the best coffee around, in my opinon, the service at this particular location leaves somethign to be desired.
In addition, they do not bake their own donuts in this small location. Instead, they are sent in from other local Dunkin Donuts and I think thye lose some of their freshness along the way.
By mid-day they are wiped out of popular choices and don't have the means to make fresh ones.
For these reasons, I do not recommend this Dunkin Donuts location.
PROS: Coffee is great.
CONS: Service is poor.
I had my wedding party at Italian Epicure and have been back numerous times since. Aside from their excellent food, the staff was what was most impressive to me. They took very good care of us. they took all the work out of the reception for me and took care of all the details. It was perfect!
The cake was memorable too. We altered strawberries and cream with chocolate cakes and they did a beautiful job with them.
Food was served promptly, dishes cleared quickly, glasses filled constantly.
PROS: Best food and service.
The staff at the Jeffrey Animal Hospital is helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They are especially good at sending out reminder notices and calling to follow up with your pet to make sure it is getting the care it needs.
They were patient and kind with my dog that is difficult to deal with. He has a stranger anxiety, but the staff knew how to handle him effectively.
PROS: Good with 'touchy' pets.
I took my son here. He was scared by another dental experience and was very hesitant to go in. But the hygienist made him feel totally comfortable and worked around his fears every step of the way. She allowed him to get ex-rays in a machine that moved around him so he wouldn't have to bite down on the films. She let him choose whenever there were options.
The doctor was extremely gentle and caring. He wasn't just there to do his job, he really cared on me and my son felt.
They could not have done anything better!
PROS: Extremely caring and patient-conscious.
The Livonia EMU is a nice, new building and offers students another location to get the same attention and experience from their professors. It's conveniently located off of I275 and would be a logical extension for those attending Schoolcraft Community College.
The only drawback is that this location has a very limited number of courses. You could not complete your degree at this location, but it could help out with a few classes if you are commuting.
PROS: Just as good as EMU Ypsilanti.
CONS: Not all classes offered at this location.
