Roslyn Savings Bank is now part of the NYCB family. So you have more banks in more areas to go to if need be. The tellers and the managers are nice. When you go in the morning they have hot coffee and cookies just waiting for you to munch. Their CD rates are not that competitive, they also give you free gifts when you deposit a high amount of money, i think the prizes start at $1000. This is for their CDs only. Their savings acct offers a low monthly interest of .02%.
This place had 2 campuses on Long Island. In Old Westbury and Central Islip, the Islip campus closed down, and they moved all the dorms to SUNY Old Westbury. This place is expensive with tuition running at 20,000+, and the professors just plain suck for the most part in the science department. For example professor Muller is a bad professor who doesn't care about the students, and don't bother showing up late because once the door closes your not allowed in the class. Its good to know you pay $20,000+ and your not allowed to go to class 1 min late. The only thing they have going is their NYCOM medical school.
This place is a build to order computer shop. They sell cheap PCs. The best thing about it is they sell motherboards, graphic cards, cases and more. It is very fun previewing their PCs, or just sitting in their little lounge area watching their Plasma TV. They have a very generous return policy if their item doesn't work with your PC. Things could be a bit more expensive than retail, but its how much you value your time in going to a compusa to buy the item.
This is another place to go to buy your Indian groceries, aka your Subzi. You'll find all sorts of Subzi at very good prices. Cheaper than your local supermarket such as stop and shop or such. They close early at around 8PMish. They have a location in Bellerose, and in Jackson Heights which is open 24hours. This is the compliment to Patel Bros. which is just a block away.
This is the place for all Indians go to buy their groceries it is run by gujuratis. Their stuff is imported from India, so you can find your good old things like curry, Maazda mango drinks, spices that you used back home in from India. You can also find all the "subzi" you need to cook all your home indian receipes.
This place has about 10 barbers just going at. They give good haircut. The only thing I dislike is the cost of haircuts which is about 12 per person. I guess now at days that is expected. One of the best barbers is Manny, and Yuri also is good. This is the place to be to get your tape up.
This place has a plethora of comics. It is 2 floors of pure comic heaven. This is the place to come first when you want to find almost anything and everything that is in the market now, or even for back issues when your in NYC. Just so many selections. They also have collectible toys, you'll find mangs, magazines also. The staff is very helpful in helping you find what you need, and it is always crowded in the store.
They sell all their comics for 20% off retail with backboard. This is an excellent price. Their comic section is just a small wall with no backissues since it is mostly a memoribillia store. The comic guy is nice, but the guy at the register always seems to be on the phone. They also have a hold list where they will hold comics of your choice month to month.
The comics here come with backboards already in them, so that saves you 10cents and keeps them from bending. Also while there check out the arcades and play some Marvel vs Capcom. The lady has alot of back issues with popular titles like Ultimate X-Men, SpiderMan at cover price. If you want she can also hold comics for you so you can come once a month and pick up the latest titles.
Comic Book heaven is open at odd days. It'll be open Wednesday for sure since thats when the new comics roll in, but it won't be open on like Thurs, or Tues. It is a great place to buy comics. The guy Tom is nice cause its a local shop. They have many back issues, and with your purchase you get a free comic. He also will give you a discount if you buy comics often, or alot of comics in one shot. He also sells collectible cards such as baseball basketball, and cards like YuGiOh, and Pokemon.
